NCAA Football 2012 Season Catch-All

I think Florida is a lock for the top 4 either way, and should be.

And again, so does SI's mock committee, if that's worth anything.

31,622 announced attendance.. absolutely pathetic. This is why no one cares about the Pac-12.. its own fans don't even give a crap.

FTFY

That would have been a sellout at Oregon or Oregon State.

Either that or conference championships where neither team has a chance of competing for the title and never will feel kind of pointless these days.

Never will? Oregon competed for it two years ago, and almost did this year.

I think the ACC would be thrilled if its championship game tonight got that many people.

It's going to be a beautiful day in Charlotte (it's already 53 and sunny where I am, about an hour+ up the road). But it's FSU and Georgia Tech and meh. No local interest. And most folks are saving their money for a bowl game, not a road trip to the Queen City.

Then again, tickets are cheap!

I was a bit surprised, but bad weather and terrible time slot. The Bay Area traffic probably resembled some sort of Gordian knot. In any case, good game with a better outcome. The end of the MAC title game was also a thriller.

In all honesty, its the two teams involved. Stanfurd has zero fan support, and fUCLA rarely travels. If it was the other 2 california teams... Cal vs. USC regardless of where it was played, it would have been a near capacity game. Hell, a 1-5 Cal team played UCLA a few weeks back and nearly 60K (not quite a sellout at memorial) witnessed papa bear eat his babies. I think if it was ASU v. WSU it would have had more people there.

What the Pac should do is put the championship game in a set spot (or rotating), rather than at the stadium with the best record. With all due respect to my esteemed colleagues in Pullman, should the championship game really be played there? Teams like Oregon, USC, Cal, OSU and probably UW would show up wherever they play. If the fanbases aren't going to show up, you shouldn't reward the home team with anything.

Rotate the game between Phoenix, Rose/Colliseum, Oakland/Candlestick/New 49ers, and Century Link field. Or heck, just do what we're going to do in hoops and stick it in Las Vegas.. everyone loves Vegas!

Also this.. I agree 100%, there was no point for this game. Last weekends game already determined the winner of the conference. Playing this game was embarassing.. it would be like Alabama playing LSU for a second time in a season [/ducks]

Just saw a report that Charlie Strong has interviewed for the Tennessee job.

Gumbie, go to your corner. Stele, go to your corner. I want a clean fight. No eye gouges.

And...

Get it on!

Now that Gruden is out if the picture rumors of Charlie Strong to Tennessee are heating up. Not my first choice but I would be happy with him. Personally I think James Franklin from Vandy would be great.

Wow me and Fed on same wave length today...scary.

Wait, I thought Strong said he had a job?

I have a job, too. Anyone else?

Yes, but he said it in a very angry, vehement way.

Ref standing 5 feet away while Alabama kills the QB...no flag.

Guess only Alabama gets those calls.

As an Alabama fan, I agree....that should have been flagged.

Wait, I thought the AU in your inscrutable name was for Auburn U?

Go, Dawgs!

I went there, but that doesn't mean I'm a fan.

I guess I don't understand the SEC yet.

Georgia blocks a FG and returns it for a TD! 21-10!

That running game is brutal.

So, I grew up in Louisville, but after watching some of the SEC championship, I gotta ask you folks from further South: does every man in the deep South where a belt with silver accents?

Man, the Georgia defense is being worn down and manhandled.

I was an Alabama fan long before I attended Auburn (Alabama didn't have my desired major).

It goes well with jorts

This game has turned really good. Very exciting!

All of that makes sense, AU, except...couldn't find a school with that major other than Bama's most-hated rival?

Now, I know some Aggies do grad school at t.u., but never undergrad.

Why not spike the ball? But what a game. As much as I'd liked to have seen Alabama lose, the BCS championship is going to be tasty.

What a game, what a finish! Georgia really did well in all aspects except for run defense. Bama looked a bit disorganized during large parts of the first half.

Financially, I needed to stay in-state, and AU is well respected in architecture.

Agreed, McFinn. Anticlimactic final play.

Ok, that's actually what I had guessed, AU.

GG.

I have only seen Sportscenter highlights of ND, but after LSU, TAMU, and tonight, I do have some concerns. I have faith in Our Coach to be prepared but I'm not guaranteeing a win in January... But I'm sure as hell looking forward to it!

Roll Tide.

I pulled for the Dawgs all day, but in the 4th quarter my daughter, who swung the A&M-Bama game with her cheers, announced out of nowhere that she was cheering for the team in white.

Not much you can do about that.
