Upcoming Indie Games to Keep an Eye On

I just read about Stardew Valley on the Bay 12 forums. They're describing it as similar to Harvest Moon, a game I haven't played.

Stardew Valley is an upcoming RPG-style farming game that is full of things to do!

It's up to you to choose your path... Will you devote your time to raising crops and caring for animals? Will you spend time in the local village, befriending the local townspeople? Do you get a kick out of slaying dreadful monsters in the mysterious mountain caverns? Or will you try to accomplish everything and claim the coveted title of "Stardew Hero"?

If you're into tactical, turn-based RPGs, you should follow the Telepath Tactics. Note: Dev is a friend of mine and co-member of the local IGDA chapter.

Cool, I support there being more Harvest Moon-like games in the world.

Oh, I'm in. Thanks!

Backed, looks very cool and I like how up-front their pitch is. Very well done.

I also love this:

fling friends across gaps

That's freaking beautiful.

I haven't backed anything in a while but this looks great and I love the pitch and breakdown of costs.

That looks incredible.

A little off-topic question for Switchbreak. It confuses me, and saddens me, that such talented artists seem to create for the tiniest resolution possible. Not seeing that pixel art in HD is such a shame. Why is this the common practice? I know upscaling works better than downscaling, but why even start at a resolution practically no one uses?

I dunno, I think pixel art is a beautiful and unique thing.

Something about that was extremely captivating.

I don't see much that looks like gameplay, but I would be psyched to watch a short film done in that style.

Yeah, lovely art and very cinematic, but was it just my streaming quality or was the gameplay kinda juddery?

Here's hoping Dead State turns out to be good. I contributed to its Kickstarter campaign and it looks like it'll be a fun diversion.

I've been following their development off and on for a while, but I missed the Kickstarter (it was over before I realized they were the ones doing it). I'm optimistic, but have no idea how it's coming along right now.

Might be a side-effect of their vidcap process.

Cross-post from Greenlight on Perennial.

Speaking of Terraria style games like Starbound, check out Edge of Space:

Starbound is scheduled for release at the end of this year... I hope they will make that release date...

Edit: Starbound is probably going to come out in 2013: IMAGE(http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/joshparnell/limit-theory-an-infinite-procedural-space-game)

If definitely not until 2013. I follow the lead on Twitter, and he said lately the beta won't be until after the New Year.

I will buy anything Ed McMillen produces. Hell, he can have my first born if needs be

Couldn't think of a better place to put this: Bleed deserves some attention. The demo was very fun, so I picked it up. I definitely recommend giving it a look.

Demo link.

They've also submitted for Greenlight.

Anyone interested in splitting a 4-pack of Monaco?

Here's one I just found out about: Enemy Starfighter

Thanks for letting me know about that, Gremlin!

I was so interested that I immediately purchased the 4-pack regardless of whether anyone else chimes in. 3 keys ready for spreading around, 45/4 = $11.25.

In a similar vein, I ran across this fancy looking Kickstartered game called Strike Suit Zero. Not sure if it's indie or not, but it does look cool. Browsing their Kickstarter profile, there's a few other upcoming titles like Elite and Xenonauts that they've linked to.

Strike Suit Zero looks really fun.

Is it ok to plug my own indie game? Iv'e been working on a game called Full Bore for the past year or so, and we just released a demo and launched a kickstarter, both of which you can find here:

Its a puzzle platform adventure with an adorable little boar:

P.S. I'm more excited about Enemy Starfighter than Star Citizen!

Can't blame you on this at all. That prototype video was stunning.

And neat-looking game!

One thing that really bums me out in the star citizen videos is how slow the movement seems. the Enemy Starfighter footage conveyed a nice feeling of speed and momentum, and was actually exciting to watch. I still play Tie fighter, but usually at double speed so that all the ships move like they do in the movies. Spaceships are supposed to be fast!

Lovely looking game, Wodenpwn. The animations of the bore are just super charming. Best of luck to you!
