Cincinnati S&T - The Hobbit IMAX at Newport

SirRockford and I were thinking about maybe going to see The Hobbit opening weekend and I thought I'd gauge interest to see who else wants to come. It'd be at the Newport IMAX and I think we were leaning towards Saturday, December 15th.

Maybe meet for dinner beforehand at Hofbrauhaus? I'm open to suggestions.

Anyone else interested in going?

I don't know who that SirRockford guy is, but he seems like a smart chap. I'd be interested in joining as well.

Potentially. Not sure what I've got going on that weekend just yet - may be doing a hefty server migration.

I won't know for sure until sometime next week, at the earliest.

*Scratches chin meaningfully*
I have been meaning to get back down there to check up on the house...

I'm actually going to be back in the Louisville area that weekend, but Sun is booked with a family holiday event.

Plus I refuse to see the Hobbit until all 3 are out. :p

But have fun!

My theater will have Hobbit showing on IMAX 3D with "advanced frame rate" (the infamous 48 fps). Can't wait.

Here are the times that Fandango is listing for Saturday: 12:30 p, 4:40 p, 8:40 p, and 12:40 a. We are two weeks out now. Probably we'll want to pick a time soonish, since I'm expecting it to sell out ahead of time. I was curious of the running time. It looks to be a short 2 hours and 50 minutes.

Tag.

Oh man, those are some fairly annoying showtimes. 8:40 has us getting out fairly late, whereas 4:40 means we can't eat somewhere beforehand. I think I'd vote for 8:40, myself.

You're right, we probably need to buy our tickets soon.

Fat hobbitses.

We could do the 4:40 and go out after the movie.

Yeah, either way is fine with me.

So I think we're leaning towards 4:40. Rocky and I are going to go ahead and buy our tickets, if you want to meet us at the movie and maybe some food afterward, just let me know in the thread.

Update, I just checked on their website - http://www.amctheatres.com/movie-the...

The IMAX only has 3pm and 7pm, so we're getting tickets for 7pm. Sorry for the confusion.

I am probably down for this. I would need to check with the wife first, however.

Still figuring out if I'm headed down there this weekend or next. I'll post when I get it figured out.

Ok, I have wifely approval. I am in!

There's supposed to be snow here this weekend, so I'm planning on checking up on the house next weekend unless the weather looks horrible.
I'll probably wait to buy my tickets until next week. 7pm works great, since I should be leaving here early in the day on Saturday.

I'm out! Seeing it with Mom and my wife as a birthday get-together in Amelia (yeah yeah, not IMAX, I know). Sooner or later, I will do something with you guys!

For those of you who are coming, do you have any preferences on food? There's a Dewey's Pizza, as well as Hofbrauhaus, Claddaugh and Bar Louie. Anything in walking distance is fine with me.

I'm down for whatever. I must say I wasn't overly impressed with Dewey's Pizza the last time we had that, but I think I was a bit spoiled by pizza in the Chicago area.

I'd be ok with either Deweys or Hoffbrau Haus.
Edit: Ticket purchased! See you guys Saturday

I have only been to Hoffbrauhaus, and I liked them a lot. But I am open to new experiences if people want to pick somewhere else.

EDIT: So did we make a decision about where/when we are meeting for food?

I would say Dewey's. From my understanding the Hoffbrauhaus is better outside of Winter when you can use the patio. We have not decided on a time yet. The movie starts at 7 PM, we probably need to get in line no later then 6:30 I would say.

When are we going to try to meet for dinner then? I'm going to be leaving here tomorrow morning, and my departure time will depend somewhat on what time we all want to eat.

How much time should we give ourselves? 1.5 - 2 hours? 4:30 or 5 PM?

4:30 or five works for me. I think Allen has my mobile, but feel free to shoot me a PM if you don't. Just text me with the time and I'll be there as best I can. I'll be leaving earlier tomorrow AM (central time) and will be on the road most of the day. If I have to go straight to Newport so be it

I will plan on getting there by 4:30. Traffic might end up pushing me back a little bit.
