Borderlands 2 Catch-All

I think that eventually, they'll need to patch that to be a daily thing - like 3 openings a day or something. They can't keep giving out the codes forever.

The golden chest is really going to bug the hell out of people when they stop posting codes. I am wondering if they will update the game so that golden keys become a drop or so that maybe you can buy them for like a buck each, or if they like us maybe three for a dollar. Actually I can't believe they haven't done this already. Just imagine all the money they are leaving on the table.

Pay to win? I hear that the chest isn't worth too much at the level cap, but if they start selling keys, that seems to leave a bad taste in my mouth. Besides, I've used keys and gotten crap, and if that happened and I paid for the key, I'd be pissed.

That is how ME3 multiplayer works, you can get scratch for a chance to get weapons- and I hear that it's still super popular multiplayer nonetheless. I'd be more interested one way or another if the chest spit out occasional oranges.

Yeah, but at no point did the ME3 multiplayer let you edit a text file to give yourself 255 Premium Spectre Packs. I don't think they can justify charging for keys after so many people got more than they'll ever need for free.

Sure they can justify it. It's just one of the many bonuses that you get for being part of The Master Race. They'll certainly continue tweeting keys for as long as the DLC lasts, and by the time that they go on sale the golden key text file will be ancient history for anyone who doesn't still have a couple hundred keys.

Didn't they already patch the text file trick anyway?

They did, but they couldn't undo the damage.

If only they had a built-in reward system that was tied to your account, not just your character; some kind of way to offer rewards for being bad-ass independent of level...

Maybe the next DLC will implement a new sort of currency you can exchange for keys.

*whistles unconvincingly*

So I played some solo yesterday to try and catch up to my friend who decided he wanted to keep playing all the way up to level 19 instead of using his alternate character, leaving me six levels behind. This left me to try and finish some of the Cult of the Firehawk missions by my lonesome.

One hour and forty or so minutes later and I gained maybe half the experience required to level up.

There's a few issues I have with this. The first is that fast travel is nice, but in my case it was as far away from my objective as possible. I needed to go back to Flynt's ship but they spawned me in the starting town, meaning I needed to fight through a bunch of guys giving me absolutely zero experience. They still absorbed ammunition and so I still needed to spend time looting around. About the only benefit was completing some challenges so I could boost a couple stats by half a percent.

After that I went back and discovered I had to travel all the way across a map again for the final objective, only now the enemies are harder and thus take more time (plus, this map was a bit of a maze so I had to figure out how to get there). I got experience in combat, but it was insignificant.

Quests are the best way to level up in this game. I'd appreciate it if I could at least gain a single level in an almost two hour play session. I feel like this issue could have been fixed by having more than one fast travel station per map, as the biggest issue was being able to get to my destination. This is why I loved inFamous 1 and 2 so much. I could play for an hour or two and always accomplished something.

This really was annoying, and I thought I did something wrong or missed a portal. Good news is that this is really the only place I recall this huge backtracking takes place.

IMO that quest is particularly stupid both with the enemies not having been levelled up to give xp/usable loot and with the amount of walking. The rest of the game is generally better. That being said, it's possible to run through without fighting the majority of dudes if you're sufficiently overlevelled for an area.

I did the Cult of the Firehawk missions and have skipped them on every playthrough since. It doesn't respect my time and the payoff isn't worth the effort.

Agreed, that was some bad design. I found, in general, that the rest of the game was a lot better. My main gripe with it, as has been mentioned by others before in this ridiculously long thread, is the length of the missions. Most are at least an hour long, with many quite a bit longer than that. Couple that with the rather backward save system, and it's impossible to play this game in bite-size pieces and still get anything done. Given that I have one baby girl and two other little girls to look after, I can't generally afford chunks of time that big. It's actually the one thing I'm a little worried about in the upcoming Far Cry 3. Apparently they've changed it so you can now only save in specific locations, which would be a huge step backwards for us gamers with jobs / kids / lives.

I should probably go ask the Australian contingent to see if that's actually true in the rightful thread for that game.

Dude I plan to stay up to 2am Friday so I can get the first Sat code. Last key I got, gave me two grenade mods. GRENADE MODS! Funny thing being they were just a few points higher (like 2-3 DPS) better than what I had already. I could really use all 5 codes, but knowing my luck so far in BL2 I will get grenade mods for 3/5 keys.

Getting further into the pirate dlc in tvhm and can I just say those guys that

Spoiler:

heal themselves when they damage you

are total dicks.

Yeah, I hate those guys.

Damn Dukinos mom.

That was a tough challenge to take on with an Assassin.

She's really got it going on.

I have a zerker that just started TVHM, not even to Sanctuary yet, and not having an easy time with it. Would love to use some keys to get better weapons before I continue but if I fired him back up in Normal mode where I can have easy access to Sanctuary to use keys, would I get the same level of weapons as I would in TVHM or would the weapon be better in TVHM even at the same level, so I should suck it up and get to sanctuary there.

Those cursed pirates are total pains in the derriere!

The golden chest should always be for whatever level you are.

I have completely bypassed the golden chest other than the first 3? keys they gave you for pre-ordering.

I can't say that I have missed them. Here's why:

Snipers have been replaced as my favorite weapons. I now value explosive pistols above them. Why? Because once I got some torgue credits I bought one for a measly 58 tc. Its stats for level 22:

509 damage with a 22 clip and a fast fire rate without a too long reload speed. Its only drawback is it consumes 2 ammo per shot. Oh and it also doubles melee damage.

It is less accurate than the sniper and can't do extreme range headshots. But it puts out way more damage than my 500 damage + 79 electric dps sniper due to the clip size, fire speed, and reload speed.

This was a very nice upgrade from a very powerful exploding pistol with a 9 shot clip and 376 damage.

So while I am sure a lot of you are higher level and into the stratosphere with damage on weapons, my point is that there is a lot of variety and fun left in the very attractive lower hanging fruit. (my highest is now my mechromancer at 25)
