Anyone looking for a few relaxed folks to play with? My friend and I are on most nights (CST) and enjoy playing with other folks that aren't kids. I.E. We're 30 and would like some other "gamers with jobs" to hang around with. Drop a PM if you're interested.

I'm a calm, cool person who never ever yells or complains. There are several of us on 360 who play together regularly. Send me a friend request tonight.

Bah.

I'll probably be on tonight.

That article did convince me of one thing. I am going to switch my crouch to the right stick.

Oh man, ditto. Hell, I end up clicking the right stick too often by accident when trying to turn rapidly to track an enemy and shoot, which means I end up slashing with the knife, failing to shoot, and getting shot and killed instead of shooting and killing.

At worst, I'll end up accidentally dropping prone like "teh pros" more often now.

So far I'm loving the multiplayer a lot.
The biggest gripe I have right now is against the damn Bouncing Bettys; they are used like grenades in their current form. They need to have some sort of set up time/animation. Ran into a clan last night, who's entire strategy was to drop them randomly all over the map.

The Engineer perk is a great antidote for Bouncing Betty's.

especially when you add in Scavenger and Black Hats or if you dont have Black Hats unlocked yet EMP grenades.

I got a kick out of that response. Funny stuff.

Others in that group, such as myself, will throw stuff across the room when we lose.

I just curse. A lot.

I just mumble and whinge here and there about my sudden inability to kill things with bullets.

Warning: It gets loud.

Figures. You guys play like 18 hours a day every day, but I find time to play for a few hours and you all disappear off the face of the earth

I was on for a bit, but then I switched over to play Halo. I tried to add you as a friend the last time we played together, but your friends list was full.

On a side note, I think that the net code in Halo is far superior to CoD. I rarely, if ever, feel like I got the drop on someone, poured a bunch of bullets into them, but lost the fight...only to see that in their killcam, I barely got a shot off. That happens all the time in CoD.

Made room for you on my list PW. Sorry about that, I've gotten to a point where everybody on my list is either my friends or GWJ people and it's hard to find people to cut.

Found a couple that seem to have abandoned their Xbox's, so they got trimmed

Cool, I added you. Hopefully Xbox 720 will allow more than 100 friends.

Eh, I play an hour or so most days, but last week I was out of town and this week I've been stuck in Wisconsin for work No 360 for me!

I was messing around with the COD Elite app and noticed my Win / Loss ratio was crap. After looking a little more into it I noticed it's great when I'm playing in a party but atrocious when I'm going solo. My theory is that the game really rewards long play sessions. When I play solo it tends to dump me in on the losing side of a 3 on 6 and it doesn't seem to balance out until 2-3 games in. That can be 2-3 automatic losses and if your only playing for an hour you don't have time to balance that out. It makes me want an option to limit the match making to games that are in the lobby. I remember this happening in BF3 too but it was much less extreme because it did a much better job at re-balancing between rounds and going 9 vs 12 is not nearly as bad as 3 vs 6.

Edit: Also BF3 had a server browser.

Edit 2: I am glad to see my K:D ratio around 1.1 for the last 20 games. I'm still digging myself out of that inevitable hole you get from jumping into it after not playing COD multi for two years.

Without a doubt playing solo can have a massive effect on your Win/Loss and KDR. A good team/party makes all the difference in the world. Being dropped into a match where people have bailed, not so much. No matter how good you are.

I think I need to start playing some more objective based games now that I've started getting to know the maps a little better (although, I'm still finding areas where I go.. wow, I can use that ladder and go there?). My first Prestige, I was all about Team Deathmatch. I'm on my second and almost exclusively playing Kill Confirmed. Now I think it's time to slow it down a bit and dig into some more strategic stuff. I mostly played Domination in Black Ops.

I really enjoy Hardcore Team Deathmatch too - it's nice to change up the pace and move a bit more cautiously.

Yeah, the maps have nooks and crannies everywhere. I think I'm at level 47 and I still get confused sometimes on what hallway brings you where. I mostly play objective games since they encourage teamplay. I tend to drift towards CTF and Domination, although I do enjoy Kill Confirmed whenever it pops up when playing Ground War.

I play hardcore about 1/3 of the time but its a bit tougher until you learn all the spots where people tend to camp. I'm finding that SMGs +extended barrel are my go guns for HC matches. For regular core, I usually use the M27 as my primary unless its a close quarters map. Sniping just isn't nearly as fun for me as the Battlefield Series (which I'm fine with). The maps are just too small for it.

Since they put Search and Destroy into Mercenary Moshpit, I just stick to Ground War most of the time anymore, since the modes it rotates amongst are my favorite (though I miss CTF when I play Ground War).

Domination is my favorite mode.

My game modes of choice tend to be Domination and Kill Confirmed, both of which are more often than not a complete exercise in futility with most groups of pubbies. I played Domination last night and lost count of how many times I would go for B when there seemed to be an opening, and I'd be the only one there for the entirety of the capture. Then about half a second before I'd complete it someone would run in and shoot me. Nobody ever came to capture the points. It was ridiculous.

It was the same way on the occasions when my team would cap B first. I'd float around it a bit, defending, and one guy would wander in and sit. And nobody else. Always just one person.

Terrible.

And Kill Confirmed people just never go for tags unless it's convenient, nevermind that it's actually how you win the mode

I tend to rack up points just picking up tags that campers have no interest in. Hey, its free experience.

Objective based games are lots of fun, but I do hear the complaints about people not bothering to cap things. Fortunately, I ignore those complaints and mostly continue to ignore the objectives. KD is more important to me than overall score, and if I was in any army, I'd be some kind of stealthy lone-wolf type, never one of the trench-charging morons pushing the cause of my side at the expense of my own skin. Believe me, I appreciate those types to no end, but nobody survived to run another mission that died on the first one.

EDIT: Also, dead enemies have trouble completing objectives ergo kill more enemies to reduce their chances of capping objectives.

Me too! I usually run a shotgun build on kill confirmed unless it's a really open map so I can run in, blast enemies trying to deny those tags to my team, and then I score 2+ tags for my team in the process. I also try hard to pick up teammates' tags to deny kills to the enemy team.

In objective-based games, I ignore my K:D ratio and focus entirely on the objective.

I've finished a lot of maps where I have over 30 confirms and the rest of my team have like 8 to 10ish. Silly. But your'e not wrong. It's free points.

Then play team deathmatch and stop neutering teams you play with on the objective modes.

I agree. Kills are good and I see your point, but I've seen too many players focusing on kills and be sitting 10 feet from a flag with no one there that their team does not control. In that case, you are not helping.

I don't mind if there's one of you on my team, it pisses off the other team enough to go hunting for you and ignore objectives too If there's a whole team of you and we end up losing, then it's not cool!

It would be different if there weren't modes specifically designed for you to focus on your K/D... but there are. If that's what you want to focus on playing the other modes just doesn't make any sense.

Unless you enjoy losing maps for some reason.

A long time ago in Tribes 2, I learned the value of having a single, highly effective Annoying Bastard on your team. More than one and you start to struggle with meeting objectives, but a really good single Annoying Bastard can easily occupy several members of the enemy team, essentially giving your team a numbers advantage.

Yeah, I agree. I get pretty frustrated in domination when I see a couple of guys on my team with k/d like 22:2 with two captures (from the freebies you get at the start of the game and half time). I can't quit out fast enough at the end of the map to join a new group.

In CTF I have no problems with the "snipers" covering the flags. In fact I appreciate a few guys staying back there as long as they try to help recover it if taken. When I'm on cover duty though, I usually stick with the old trusty LMG.

Ya f*ck KDR i like to win more than worry about my epeen.

The cool thing is with BO2 you can outscore the numbnuts that dont contribute to the objectives now.
