I was there for a year. It sucks. It really does. Hope things work out for you.
Now, get the f*ck out.
I kid, I kid. When I was unemployed I read A LOT of Internet forums. After taking many concessions in my lifestyle I found that video gaming is actually one of the cheapest hobbies around (provided you already own a gaming machine). One $60 game can be weeks of fun/content.
You won't be the first sneaking past security to get into the GWJ office, you won't be the last. There's been a good few threads for the paid occupationally challenged in the past few years.

Thanks to (Humble) Bundles / Steam Sales, I'm set for YEARS of unemployment should the unexpected happen.
I'm sorry about your job loss. That sucks. And don't listen to those other guys, if you hang out in the break room, nobody will even notice. Just refill the coffee and don't eat the lunch with my name on it. I hate it when people steal my yogurt.
It's not easy to get a REAL job in IT in Germany. A real job means in Germany, you have a specific amount of holidays, you can be ill, they pay half of health insurance, the pension, further training etc. etc.
IT is a business which a) does not educate IT people and b) whines loud there would be no IT experts.
The other side of the coin, the truth, my truth is: There are many IT people. But self employed (and often forced to be so). With self employees it is no problem if they are 30 or 40. Self employed workers generally means the employer does not have to take care of anything about them. A fixed price is payed and thats it. And the self employed is sent by 3rd party who also earns a bit of the money.
I want out of that f*cking consulting business which pisses me off for several reasons. Basically social questions. As an "Expert" you principally have "no home" and no time for learning. I mean, the real clerks are fiddling and fuddling hours and days on a problem, but from me it is expected to always have an answer to anything.
Álso there is no social responsibility towards me and the result is: I have no solidarity if Opel Bochum workers whine about losing this or that. Because they whine on a high level... Also Volkswagen. They have jobs at lines with EUR 3000 (before tax)- well. OTOH nowadays they wanna hire studied Computer Science people for 2.5k/month. ROTFL.
I think we had our good times. In the sixties there were tons of jobs and you could earn a lot of money with hard work, but not necessarily with usage of many brain cells. That has dramatically changed.
Nope.
Get out.
somehow exasperation just doesn't cut it

Or, if you play online, weeks of frustration and abuse. (Representing even better value for sadomasochists.)

You must have seen me trying to play Halo online, yesterday. Never has a game I've played multiple iterations of felt so alien to me in multiplayer.

It's cool, Certis lets us keep a shack out back. We have to go into the main office to use the loo but otherwise it's not too bad.

I hear that next year we may even let you have a heater.

I'm pretty sure, statistically, coffee increases violence more than marijuana....I'm going for my second cup and when I get back I'm bringing a shovel.

Certis: Quintin is both smart and attractive.
Fedaykin98: Good lord, I wouldn't have expected brilliance like that from that nemeslut Quintin Stone!
Yonder: It's weird to say this, but Quintin Stone may be the wisest person here.
Best of luck. Just finished a 7 month stretch as a GW/OAJ. It sucks, but you'll find something.
I like to think that Trichy's brain is a Rorschach test, in that it is not trapped here with us, so much as we, are trapped here with it.

Are you're willing to share where you are and what type of work you're looking for?
There just might be someone on GWJ that knows of something up your alley. It wouldn't be the first time.

Yup! I believe the Goojers with job opportunities is the thread to keep an eye on. I know I do!
