That's pretty awesome.

Who wants to fold their bills that much? If I was a cashier I hate that person.

Not exactly a KickStarter (looks like their rolling their own) but weird enough to share

15$ is good but 15 Pound is excessive . 15 pound is almost 24$ for and in my opinion it's excessive for kickstarter game . Most British projects seem to have pretty steep entry fees.

I tossed money at Maia, because management game deep-fried in procedurally generated world exploration and 80's sci-fi is wonderful. And yeah, the exchange rate is woefully deceptive. 15 pounds? Sure that can't be more than $20. *clicks pledge button* Yikes! But is it really their problem that the exchange rate is so tilted?

I'm not a big fan of Peter Molyneux's games anyways.

I enjoyed some of his older stuff like Theme Hospital, Dungeon Keeper (the demo at least) and Syndicate. Populous was more of a curio for me (I wasn't really into strategy games and didn't quite grasp the mechanics at the age I tried it), so I'm going to think about this one a bit before throwing money at it.

One picture showed a iPhone in the wallet. Given the wallet/case I'm looking for, I'm hoping it might work out. GNex is only a bit wider than the iPhone.

EDIT: I have no idea why I responded to your post.

Genius that they didn't let you hear it.

Probably because it really isn't that impressive sounding...

Another vote here for Sui Generis http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...

Only 36 more hours to go - looks like they will be cutting it close.

Maia minimum pledge was 7 pound which is 11$. I don't think they are asking for more money because of the exchange rate . I think they are asking for more money because of Peter and their reputation as a company. They might get more money in the long run but they may get less backers.

I'm always looking at ROI of those projects before pledging. I'm not rich in any ways (my country isn't know for its high pay and low taxes) so I have to be careful with what I invest. The other problem with kickstarter projects is that they take time to implement. I think Peter and his friends didn't do a good enough job in presenting their game and I'm basically not that interested in it anyways. They'll probably get the funding but not from me.

Got an email from the Goblinworks folks yesterday:

This is an exciting time at Goblinworks, and we wanted you to be the first to know about our latest development! As our biggest fans and early supporters, it is important to us that you are in the loop early. The support we received for our Technology Demo Kickstarter back in May gave us the money we needed to produce our Tech Demo. In turn, that Demo allowed us to get the funding we needed to put Pathfinder Online into production. Right now, a small team of very cool professionals are working very hard on building Pathfinder Online, and we have you to thank for that!

But right now our team is limited in size. There are nine people working on Pathfinder Online--enough to get us to launch in a few years, but not enough to do it with the speed and scope we really want. So we are launching a new Kickstarter for the Pathfinder Online Fantasy Sandbox MMO at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/... The purpose of this second Kickstarter is to get the money we need to make Pathfinder Online bigger, faster and better than we can with our current level of funding. It will let us hire more people and dedicate more resources to Pathfinder Online, potentially cutting the time to launch in half, and massively expanding the content and features available on release.

So for GWJers who have used kickstarter or Indie Go Go (and so on) for their own projects there is a dialog I would like to have with you, privately. I am working on a few things to serve independent artists. I also have a book I am working on to that end.

General questions like
-How did you spread the word?
-How did you crunch the numbers for your goal, and doner amounts?
-Compared to say getting a grant or a bank loan, do you think this is better?
-At the conclusion, how did you satisfy your doners?
-Was the service something that lead to a lasting endeavor, or was it more a one off thing?

KG, I'd love to read that book when you're done. Not so much as a potential Kickstarter (my artistic talents are lacking), but as someone who finds the whole Kickstarter/crowd funding process in general fascinating.

Feel free to PM me; I'll be happy to talk after work.

You have to get to the $45 tier to get the print copy of a cookbook that's going to have thirty recipes?

Good Lord indeed.

It's not looking so good for Sportsfriends (including J.S. Joust). They're just over a third of the way to their goal, at $58k out of $150k, with only 12 days to go.

What do you guys think, will they be able to surge and pull it out at the end?

Hope so, I pledged $30.

Same here. Although MonoCheli is trying to talk me into the $3,000 level.

I went from $30 to $60 a week ago.

It is an instruction manual for navigating the US Copyright website, with a rich glossary of terms. I suggest a glass of wine and a relaxing bath while you read it.

Ahh, I misunderstood, I thought it was a book about the Kickstarter process. Not that you were looking at the Kickstarter process for your book. My bad.

Sounds, um, fascinating, nonetheless!

Something I am wondering about is how LuLu or Cafe Press would work with Kickstarter books. With LuLu it is print as you go, and the author makes the difference between the retail and printing costs. Say a 40 dollar donor is promised a free book.

You inspired me a bit, a chapter or 2 on how to self publish, and self fund would be a good addition, maybe an Appendix.

Bleargh, I'm at $15. Don't really care about alpha access which is why I didn't pledge more. Will have to reconsider since they're struggling despite being featured on the KS homepage for a day

I saw a scrolling shout-out on my PS3 last night for the Sportsfriends Kickstarter. I don't know how to describe it as I don't fully understand my PS3 yet.

VLC has a kickstarter to make it Metro capable on Win8.

More info on Win8 and DVD playback support.
