NFL 2012 Week 12 Thread (Updated with Pick 'Ems)

New kicker for the Niners next week?

Hopefully. I like Akers, but I think he's lost it.

I don't think that block was on Akers, but I'd say next year is not looking so good for him.

Blocks usually aren't, but it still goes as a miss for him and his percentage isn't very good this season.

And if Alex Smith can get benched after playing pretty well, I guess it depends on if they think they have a better kicker lined up.

Cundiff is out there

This 5-0 feels a lot more satisfying than last week's! Not only are there going to be fewer, but I also knocked Sheared off my butt by three games.

This looks like the Seattle game all over again. Aaron Rodgers holding the ball forever and his O line collapsing.

This game is fun.

Not.

It's awful. I never expected the d to hold up with the guys out.

More worrisome is Rodgers and the O look very blah.

Wtf are they trying to run it so much. You have the best QB in the league and you're down by a ton...throw the damn ball!

I am loving this game thank you very much

It's hard to throw the ball with four Giants constantly in your face.

Packers' offensive line is the problem. No time for Rodgers, no holes for the backs. Defensive line is destroying them.

Thing is he never has had a dominating line. Somewhere between him missing a step and maybe Jennings being out has really thrown Rodgers off this year.

I've never seen him get stuck in the pocket this much or hold onto the ball so long.

Was honestly expecting a statement game for last year. Embarrassing.

This is what the Giants have been doing since 2007 or so: making passing teams pay for being passing teams.

right... like when Rodgers went for 28/46 369yds and 4td 1int last year.

The Giants have a pass rush but their secondary can be pretty suspect. You need to be mobile and you need to get the ball out. I honestly have never seen Rodgers pull the ball down and take so many sacks until this year.

Another thing thats been pretty suspect is the play calling. How did the offense go from hardly using Cobb last year to yesterday they were forcing plays to try and get the ball into his hands.

Even with Jennings out they had Finley, Nelson and Jones.

News: James was held without a catch in Sunday's loss to the Giants. (Sun Nov 25)

Spin: Not only was he held without a catch, but he wasn't even targeted by Aaron Rodgers. The Packers struggled to throw the ball as New York's pass rush caused headaches all game, but it's surprising that Rodgers didn't look Jones' way once.

Like really? cant run a 5 yard slant and drill it into him? Between that and running the ball so much theres some perplexing play calling going on.

Regardless the Packers were going to lose with how many points they gave up that was kinda expected. Offense really needed to show up to help out the banged up D and they hung them out pretty bad.

I think I missed Ray Rice's 4th and 29 conversion yesterday.

2nd longest non-penalty 4th down conversion ever apparently. SportsCenter made a big deal of it this morning, only one longer was 34 yards back in 2001.

Great running from Rice of course, and good blocking down field. But that San Diego defense was flat out terrible.

I'm convinced that the only team that can beat the Giants are the Giants. There isnt a team in the NFL that can even come close to hanging with them other than the Patriots (surprise surprise)

edit

Tebow Mania claims Jets "greatest" fan?

My opinion of Jets fans has sunk to new lows...

I don't totally agree with you, there. Like I said, the Giants are built for messing up the passing game, and since this is such a pass-first league, the Giants are well-suited to beat most teams. Jowner pointed out that their secondary is pretty suspect, but if the QB has about 2 seconds to move the ball, the secondary doesn't need to be that good to slow down or outright stop the pass. Last year during the Conference round of the playoffs I was thinking that it was going to be really interesting seeing how the last 3 games would play out; we had the Pats vs the Ravens which is always a great game, and the Giants vs the 49ers which should have been a fantastic defensive game. All of the SB match-ups looked great, with the "been there-done that" exception of the Patriots-Giants. I really think that the Ravens would have beaten the Giants last year, since they had a much better run game than the Patriots had. I really think those two SB losses to the Giants are why New England has been working on balancing the pass/run calls this year.

I missed this awesome Jets highlight Thurs. Granted I didn't watch the game, but this should be all over the internet.

Seriously. Tebow can't possibly be worse than that.

uh...yes he can.

Crap, I am going to have to go 0-5 this weeks after 2 straight 5-0 weeks. Here is what my picks would have been. I haven't checked scores but last night Raiders fans were Female Doggoing and moaning so I assume they lost. Niners fans seemed pretty hit or miss so they could have lost too. *shrugs*

Titans at Jaguars
49ers at Saints
Seahawks at Dolphins
Falcons at Buccaneers
Raiders at Bengals

edit: looks like I would have been 2-3, meh.

Damn I completely forgot as well

Breaking news: Tonight's MNF game has been canceled on account of awfulness.

Had me laughing my ass off Dave.

Thanksgiving was wonderful. Turkey came out perfect, homemade gravy even better, Giants beat the Packers and Cowboys lost to Washington.

The only reason I'll watch tonight's game is that there's nothing else on to have on in the background while I play TF2.

idk.. it would be interesting to watch Cam throw for 300 and run for another 100.. because.. he will.

Stunning fact I heard on the radio today: The Phillies have won a regular season game more recently than the Eagles.
