Borderlands 2 Catch-All

How does the DLC work with this game? I have a character that has completed the main story line, started TVHM, but haven't gotten very far. Can that character do the new content in non-TVHM mode? Quite frankly I'm getting pounded in TVHM and I wouldn't want to play new content that way.

Yeah it just shows as a new area, go there in True Vault Hunter or regular mode pretty much at any time.

So my friend is using the Mechromancer class that has the DeathTrap summon ability. The game is balanced for two players, but you have this robot flying around everywhere trashing things.

This has left the best moments of the game when we're either separated or the environment is huge enough and foes spread far enough apart that I don't have to deal with that stupid DeathTrap. Otherwise it feels like every time I line up a shot and fire a bullet is wasted.

I spent some time with the Gunzerker today as well. Trying to figure out the best weapons to use for character builds is an interesting dilemma.

Yeah after seeing the game 50% off I thought the DLC would at least be 25% off.

Maybe at Christmas.

Too many other games for me to buy DLC at full price right now.

I haven't checked this but GMG had the most recent DLC running at $7.50. Again I'm not sure if this is still valid (I have a Season Pass, so I didn't get it there).

I kind of like the bleeps, personally. Maybe I haven't heard enough of them yet.

What I don't like is that this DLC marks the third time (am I forgetting any?) where the game says, point blank, "this character is going to betray you soon, but not yet." Sometimes it's that same character saying it. It was cute the first time but I'm left wondering if this is going to be a "thing" now, and if it's going to happen in every DLC.

One of my friends switched out his Gunzerker for a Mechromancer, and I'm less than thrilled about it. As a Gunzerker, he had the Team Ammo Regen class mod, as a Mechromancer, we get 10% more shield - which on replay 2 is pretty much the most useless team boost ever. Any fight that should be a good challenge is nullified, because Deathtrap comes out and destroys everything, and every fight that should be fairly easy is a huge pain because Gaige can't hit anything farther away than 5 feet with her Anarchy stacks. It kind of sucks.

I have a Gunzerker, and I find that going with an Electric/Fire SMG pair is the bee's knees. I put points into the firing not always spending a bullet and when I kill things my fire rate goes up, plus I have reduced the recoil on both guns. It really is quite entertaining seeing about 50,000 bullets fly out in a given second, and I can frequently forgo reloading for a long, long time.

I haven't really found any SMG's in my solo game, and only just started finding them in our co-op game, so I didn't even think about that possibility. At the moment I'm using an assault rifle in one hand and shotgun in the other, but while they're great separate they aren't exactly the best together. So I'm still working on that.

I've also found a lot of the Gunzerker's early skills to be pretty meh, and am mostly leveling up based on some of the later abilities that I really want.

Having not played with one yet I have to say that the Gunzerker is the class I am the least interested in. I might play it long enough to get the class specific achievement but that is all.

I didn't put any points into my mechromancer's anarchy tree precisely for that reason, though pretty much any other character is better with guns than Gaige.

He did the Elemental tree for the first 30 levels, then switched to Anarchy after we

Spoiler:

killed Handsome Jack

. Once you have an Axton and a Zer0 to handle a bunch of the enemies, then you can just wade into combat and one-shot everything else. But I'm not bitter.

Yeah my GunZ is lowest (lvl 8, just to make Sanctuary) and will be the last class I level, if at all.

Gaige is 50. Maya is 43. Zer0 is 38. Axton is 12. I think.

Anyway I should stop farming on Gaige and get Maya to 50.

As for my Gaige, I didn't use Anarchy until TVHM either. I was all BFF tree to make DeathTrap awesome, and then mostly the middle tree after that too. All I had in Anarchy was the 1 point.

I tried a respec recently since I got some great level 50 class mods to get a couple more points in Anarchy tree and take advantage of free 4 points or something. Pretty nice.

My favorite Gunzerking pair of weapons is a torgue (pistol or assault rifle) and a tediore slag pistol. The slag enables double damage (given enough bullets...) and the torgue generally does the most damage of equivalently priced weapons and medium range.

It seems to me that Mechromancer would be more fitting a character for single player.

Oddly enough, while I want to play Zer0 since he seems to get some advantages for using sniper rifles, I've been using a Sniper Rifle as one of my major weapons with the Siren. Psylocke offers a perfect time to get some head shots, and if you're good/quick enough then you can also manage to get some extra health to you and your teammates.

Yeah I Maya-snipe a lot.

Zer0 definitely has his place in groups later. Like fighting anything with groups or adds, b0re is tremendous.

Snipers have been one of my main weapons as the Siren as well. For a while I was running a sniper build with an amp shield and class mod that added +4 to the skill that helps gun damage and like +3 to the kill skill that causes shields to recharge. With a level 45 sniper rifle I got from the gold chest that did over 10k damage, plus 150% crit, plus over 2k/sec corrosive, plus the amp damage I was getting one shot critical kills on most normal second play-through enemies. I switched to a different build when I got to area with more up close fighting though. Still have that rifle as my go to weapon against armored enemies.

Go talk to Moxxie. Any time, any level, just keep putting cash in the tip jar and she will eventually give you an smg, level appropriate to the main story arc. Do it again, and you can get the other smg, one is fire, the other caustic.

Haven't really played much of the new DLC. I thought it was interesting that I got 5 torgue credits for completing an arena fight and the cheapest item to buy at the vendor is 76 credits. The stuff looks good too. I just hope that I didn't get a great dice roll on weapon availability that won't come back when I do have enough credits (~700) to buy it. That and I just can't wait to try some of these weapons. Exploding spreadshot shotguns? Yes please even though I am not a big fan of shotguns in this game so far. (some of Captain Blade's shotties are real nice though)

I don't know how effective it will be at higher levels but the aoe explosion deathtrap ability is devastating. It has a ~20-30 second cooldown but it is a room clearing ability. The most I've seen it one shot is 5 loaders of mixed variety. It isn't so awesome that is trivializes the game. My only gripe is that it is more gratifying for me to get the kills. Though watching the explosion go off is awesome. I think it is the same issue with areas that were designed to be completed on foot yet you can reach them with fire from your vehicles.

Headshots and blowing off loader appendages (especially with the accompanying loader chatter) is where the sweet spot is for this game. Anything that interferes with that needs to be lessened or limited in some way.

Interesting. I ended up dropping $100 in there, which I found amusing for some reason as I didn't even play any of the Borderlands DLC.

I honestly really like how they implemented some of that stuff, though. If there's anything you can say about Gearbox it is that they are in love with their own setting and characters, and it shows.

So how does one go about getting into some base-game co-op? Picked this up on the sale and while I finished the original Borderlands with all of the DLC I've only played solo. I just started playing so I've only got a level 10 commando.

Invited you to the GWJ-Borderlands group on Steam. You can friend a lot of the people in there, and then they will show up in-game in the menu. Pretty easy to find someone to join.

Or you can use the group to post an event or announcement that you are playing at X Level, and maybe people from the group will friend you up and join you.

I found this in a chest. I'm on the 360, live id brizahdwizahd. If anyone wants it just let me know.

That 32% cooldown rate and +5 to 20% cooler looks amazing. Unfortunately I'm on ps3 and don't have any lvl 50 legendaries to trade anyways.

Wait, is it just called, "Legendary Mechromancer Class Mod?" I wonder what it sets your title to.

LobsterMobster wrote:

Most likely, Legendary Mechromancer; I have the one for Axton and I'm a Legendary Soldier or Commando if I remember correctly.

Oh yeah, don't know if this has been discovered or discussed, but I discovered a not-so-nifty thing-ding the other day. My friend has typically been playing host to our Borderlands 2 games, so when we decided to have me host with my Siren we discovered it sets me right back to the beginning (I came into his game late so I didn't get to finish the first quest). This is a bit inconvenient, but I also discovered yesterday that once you finish earlier quests and sees all the ones you completed in co-op, it offers to let you skip ahead.

Well, when I signed on yesterday going solo I was still stuck in frozen ice town and hadn't yet made it to Sanctuary. I checked my equipment and, because I wasn't at that point in the game yet, my energy weapon was gone. There was no replacement. Just gone.

Which was disappointing because I liked that gun.

Yea to bad no cross platform play... I decided I was more interested in it getting used than making a trade.

Looks like Uncle Randy has been giving out Golden Key codes all day. Here's a set that went live around 5pm ET

PS3: WJC3T-SS6K3-T5CWB-ZJWB3-BT3K6
PC: KJKB3-RRBCK-CXJ3J-TJBBJ-JK6R9
X360: WTKBJ-6FJT6-FZXJX-5R33B-FFRCZ

The golden chest is really going to bug the hell out of people when they stop posting codes. I am wondering if they will update the game so that golden keys become a drop or so that maybe you can buy them for like a buck each, or if they like us maybe three for a dollar. Actually I can't believe they haven't done this already. Just imagine all the money they are leaving on the table.

Pay to win? I hear that the chest isn't worth too much at the level cap, but if they start selling keys, that seems to leave a bad taste in my mouth. Besides, I've used keys and gotten crap, and if that happened and I paid for the key, I'd be pissed.
