I really hope they add 'Trackmania Nations' style multiplayer, Simultaneous/Non-Collision/Ghost time trials (is that right?).
And the singleplayer was kinda neat too. Definitely looking forward to this.
Interesting.
I hope there's more cut scenes. Those were awesome.
True True. The story was the best.
Complaints aside, I loved that game.
Damnit guys, stop sarcasming on the internet, it confuses me.
On the topic of guns, I hope they still have the gunplay and melee-combat in the game, I just hope they make it less essential. I actually thought the gun mechanics in Mirror's Edge were very solid, and the lack of ammo counters, reloading and reticules was refreshingly realistic.
Provide some lengthier routes around the enemy combatants for people who want to avoid combat, and perhaps some more non-lethal methods of dealing with enemies. Maybe some throwable non-lethal melee weapons? I liked the combat, but felt a little bad gunning down the poor cops.
For an example of how that might play out, I can picture myself knocking out one cop with a counter, stealing his baton, knocking out a second cop with it, and then throwing the baton at a third more distant cop, all in the space of a few seconds with zero fatalities. That'd be neat.
If they overhauled the combat entirely I could definitly see it working. The main problem was that it forced you to stop moving, which is pretty much the entire point of the game. If all attacks kept your motion going, say shoving the guy down or a tackle with a roll, then it would work. Maybe make the guys who chase you more prominent. Running away from someone or bullets was the best part of the game.
Exactly, the guns stopped the flow. I could get past that. The story was still terrible, though.

It was weird though, the story was pretty meh but surprisingly well acted/voiced by the characters. Or maybe I'm just getting rosy eyed. I still play the first two levels every now and then, I've got them down to a science now. Those two and the one where your chased by the other runners are the best in the game.
The story was forgettable, I wouldn't say it was actively bad. I quite liked the cutscenes personally, the art style was a bit... off, but the charm was there.

I really liked the idea they were going for with the underlying narrative but it wasn't fleshed out nearly enough. If they could do that in Mirror's Edge 2, I think it would make the story far more engaging. Unfortunately, DICE has almost exclusively been a multiplayer studio for their existence so I don't imagine they have a strong writing staff.
I would love to see a Mirror's Edge 2. I had a few issues with the first one (like a couple of you guys, so not going to rehash it), but generally loved the concept, the artwork and the overall atmosphere. And I did play the crap out of the iOS version (fire shield up!). Here's hoping they announce something solid at E3...
My biggest fear is that it's announced exclusively for next-gen consoles.
Otherwise, even a tease or no-gameplay-FMV trailer would be better, as long as I know the game is coming.
Loved the first one. Can't wait for this. Glad they got it in before they go all Star Wars @ Dice.
Want this so bad. I so hope they announce it and that it doesn't have some scummy business model attached to it.

Oh gosh, don't jinx it!! I would be soooooo disappointed if that was the case!!
On a side note, waiting excitedly for info on DA3, but I'm one of those few people who liked DA2. ^_^
want want want want want
Man I hope this is good and they don't screw it up. Oh and that it actually exists. Probable my biggest worry is when reading about all the complaints about the combat they decided the best way to fix it is to expand on on it. Combat needs to be either removed in this game or made some way that never interrupts your flow while running. Actually almost everything that interrupts your flow should be altered a bit (ledges, beam walk, etc). Loved the first game to death, I can speed run the first two levels very well. Best two damn levels in the whole game.
Heh. I just finished Mirror's Edge last week. I agree with Master0: anything that breaks the flow should be thrown out the window. Mirror's Edge was all about the flow. This includes the immersion-breaking voice-acting and lip sync issues in between the levels.
Dealbreaker would be a male protagonist. Don't tell me it's impossible, you know it isn't
There have also been a lot of 'leaked' listings on the Italian and German Amazon pages as well.

That's the big question isn't it, assuming they announce ME2 at all, that they announce something worth having.
But I played ME2 like a long time ago... and romanced Tali every time.

Context is everything. This isn't the Mass Effect thread.
Hello, Captain of the Joke Police! Are you making your rounds or did someone call?
Okay I'm intrigued.
edit: Okay psyched. I loved the first and while not perfect I'll take as much more of it as they'll give me. The trailer seems actiony but it's a trailer and they always are. If there are two levels as good as the first two levels in the original, I'm happy.
Running. Melee. Not a gun in sight.
I'm in.
Hooray. I loved the first one. First person for the win!
