Firefall Catch-All

The red bean cost is probably like 5x higher than I would like to see it. $25 (200 red beans) for some decorative headgear is just way too much. Actually, now that I type that, it's about 25x too expensive for my taste. What's the cost of instant manufacturing? I personally think it should be 1 red bean, but my guess is it's 5 or 10.

Just set a Crystalline Crystite Engine to build (15mins) and the instant build option is 1RB. Might be higher on longer duration build queues.

Turkey hat is 50RB though... Very tempted

Model 5 helmet .. 200RB... it's nice, but not $25 nice.

WHAT DID I SAY ABOUT PLAYING WITHOUT ME?!?!?

It was cool as long as you didn't find out?

Glad instant build is only 1 red bean, but yeah, the head gear prices have to come down before I'll entertain the thought of spending money on them. So it's likely I'll just be a boring, bland faced or tiki mask clad soldier forever.

For now, I'm just sitting on most of my founders pack beans (less 3 garage spots worth). I can wait for something better.

not playing just taking pretty pictures

Be warned, using red beans on quick finishing an advanced mpu will result in not receiving one and still losing all the minerals to make it.
I was able to hop in last night for a half hour and was able to discover that the mission with the antenna is bugged and that the chosen acyote wasn't that difficult to defeat. (I want the old reticle back for the biotech gun).

What's the best way to get a group set up?

FYI, if you beat Mustang's time in the LGV race (which means finish with more than 1 minute left), the reward is a "Mustang Dubloon", which gives you +10% XP for a PvP match. I am underwhelmed.

Folks looking to squad up have been hopping in Vent.

Edit to add: there's also a Steam Group. Sent you an invite.

Anyone seen a Baneclaw yet? The new Achievements mention them. Perhaps they are the special sumthin-sumthin mentioned here which was a link tied to the update next to "Boss Encounters."

Looks like the 6+ grouping exploit still works, Woot!

Encountered a Meld Repulsor for the first time, the sound of it retaking ground scared the crap outta me. Had thought (and hoped) it was the sound of an Invasion on Copa, until I saw the Meld rapidly shift my way.

I have a theory that the Meld Stabilizer must be used to reach the small patch of non-Meld way out in the north-ish west. Guessing by the cavernous area revealed by the map, I'm thinking that perhaps an Aranha Queen lurks within. Thus promoting a squad/army endeavor through the meld for mucho rewards. (So you are taking care of building the first of these, right Dimmerswitch? )

Could you explain it? I'm unaware of this exploit.

The max group size is 5. It seems, though, that the check for this occurs only when sending invites, not when people actually join the group. As long as the group isn't full, you can send as many invites as you want. Anyone who gets an invite can join the group, even if the group is full. So, you can get a group with more than 5 people in it by making sure you send all the group invites before anyone accepts them. The biggest group I've seen so far is 9. A 9 person thumping party is a sight to behold.

I had a frustrating evening of getting constantly kicked to the login screen (or having the game freeze) without any error messages. Hoping that's transient - will keep folks posted.

You make a good enough case that I'll start working through the components today.

The code for capping squad size mistakenly checks the squad size when sending invites, not when they're accepted. So, a coordinated group can have people leave until the squad size hits 4, then invite as many people as needed (we've had GWJ squads as big as 9 - not sure what the real upper bound is). It's unsupported, and there's definitely some weirdness with icons for squadmates on the HUD and map, but seems worth doing so far.

Red5 is aware of this bug, but my impression is that fixing it isn't much of a priority until they get some of the Army functionality in place.

[Edit: Wembleyhauser'ed!]

This will take a while, and is extremely resource-intensive. My moving forward with it will probably mean that nobody gets boot-strapped once trading's in.

I'm guessing that the capsule gets used up as well, so that's probably a recurring cost.

Ye gads.

Yeah, I was looking at the parts for those. It certainly does look like the empty destabilizer is a one-time cost, with the a new capsule needed for each use. I seem to have quite a bit of residue now, so that part isn't too bad.

Managed to lose an advanced thumper yesterday. We were doing better and better meld-thumping with improved. We had gotten to the point where we filled it up with no one dying, so I figured what the heck. When I got back after respawning, all the Chosen looked like they were storming Normandy on D-Day.

Confirmation that capsule expires.

Sorry to hear about your thumper, deftly. That first one's the hardest.

If only it were my first! At least with the new crashed thumper quests, it's easier to accumulate the parts you need.

So far away from gaming pc. I am jacks depression.

Ow.

I will be up along the northern melding border for a long time tonight, in the hopes of getting enough stuff to finish the capsules.

My workstation revamping should be done this weekend, I'll have to get back in on this. I need to see if this runs under nVidia 3D surround.

Sthillary and I need better internet. 2GB patches take for freaking ever to download.

So, the low yield for crafting Blackened Melded Animal Residue means that I need a total of around 3400 Severed Melded Animal Scrap. I simply can't fathom how anybody got it built legitimately so soon after the patch dropped, since trading's not in.

My hope is to get enough of that collected that we could consider triggering the Baneclaw boss event Sunday evening. I haven't watched videos or read that much about the event yet, but reportedly folks got 200k XP for killing him. (!!!)

We'll probably need more than all the Goodjers currently in-game to be able to have a shot.

For now, sleeps.

This was an error/bug apparently.

Hey all,

We pushed a hotfix for this patch. Baneclaw was granting far more experience than intended. Killing Baneclaw now grants 30,000 XP (before any bonuses). This will not require a client patch.

See you in game!

Well, that's slightly less outrageous, I suppose.

Think I've passed along to all the folks I've squadded with, but wanted to call out here that XP appears to now be un-capped (not sure if this was in the most-recent PVE patch or if I'm just noticing it).

In any event, it appears they were tracking it even when the counter wasn't incrementing, as I now have a rather embarassingly-large surplus on my Rhino frame.

Yeah, I am pretty sure 200k is about 1/3 of most classes max XP right now. So three kills on that guy and you would be set.

Though if he is giving 30k I would imagine him as a slightly less formidable foe. I would love some idea how many people it should take to get him down before we jump in, and it would be way more fun to do with goodjers only.

If you guys are going to play without me while I'm on vacation, you need to update this thread more! I need to know the happenings!

Huge thank-you to deftly and Psych, who helped me over the edge in gathering the Severed Melded Animal Scrap.

The Analyzed Blacked Melded Residue is running now, at which point I can swap in the Melding Field Destabilizer Capsule recipe, and have enough time for the Melding Field Destabilizer recipe to complete now matter how long it runs (overnight, if need be).

So, how do folks feel about trying to take down Baneclaw tomorrow evening?

As long as you are hip to past 7pm PST, I'm in. Mixed feelings though, I'll be at my best as a Biotech, but I already have all the XP I need for that frame...
EDIT: Just a quick heads up, it appears that the Baneclaw encounter is to last no longer than 5 min. This may or may not have been hot-fixed yet, but if it has, then at the end of 5min...

Spoiler:

Then the Melding reached out and mercilessly kills you.

Otherwise, the planned group size may end up working out.

I could throw down with the Baneclaw, depending on the timing.
