The Walking Dead (from Telltale Games) - Catch All

Finished Episode 4 this afternoon.

Spoiler:

-Saved Ben, like most people. His constant screwing up has to pay off in some heroic sacrifice, right? It's the only reason why he didn't fall to his chewable death.
-told Vernon off for wanting to take Clementine. As well, the game screwed up at that point, with Vernon saying I had threatened him. I had not. I play Lee as nice and honestly as I can, but somehow the game thought otherwise and this old bastard was shouting in my rather surprised face.
-digging up the dog's grave was horrible. Burying the dead boy with his dog was one of saddest scenes in the game thus far.

Spoiler:

I think the threatening Vernon scene is when you first meet him in the morgue. The video posted earlier seemed to clear that up.

I had a bit of black humor moment and muttered "Duck no longer thinks you're incredibly awesome" when I was aiming my gun at the dying child. I guess that makes me a monster, huh? :(

Welcome to the club.

Spoiler:

At least you didn't try to see if you could wing him, like I did.

Spoiler:

I was really surprised to see how few people made Kenny take care of Duck. I can't think of a more horrible situation for a parent to go through, but having someone else take care of it just seems like turning your back on the child in their final moments. As tough as it was for Kenny, I thought that by killing Duck myself, Kenny would end up resenting me and start drawing parallels between that event and Lee's start as a convicted murderer.

Regarding the lead-up to episode 4:

Spoiler:

It's great from a story perspective I suppose, but some guy from Savannah talking on Clem's radio was just too jarring. Those things just don't have that kind of range, and reception from one point on the ground to another is spotty at the best of times. Also, from the relationship I have with Clem I'm skeptical she'd keep something like that from me. If episode 4 doesn't open with someone asking Clem about the guy on the radio I'll be disappointed.

I just applied the latest Windows 7 updates and my save games are gone. I will just play the last episode with default choices and call it a day.

Are the save files literally missing? I've moved my saves from PC to Mac and back again with no trouble. The game is certainly a bit quirky about finding the saves though.

Episode 5 was released on PSN tonight. I played and finished it. The following is only a spoiler about time played:

Spoiler:

Although the download was larger than Episode 4, it took me about 2 hours. I guess the extra data is for the different permutations of the story.

And one more personal spoiler.

Spoiler:

I cried.

I'm anxiously awaiting it's arrival on 360.

Did they not come out at the same time?

I believe the 360 version comes out on Wednesday.

And the American Wednesday at that, which is some time around tea time during the UK Wednesday.

Steam just downloaded the latest episode and, as much as I would love to dive right in, I think it's probably smarter for me to get some sleep first. I can depressed in the morning.

A little quick but I enjoyed it. I thought the mystery guy would be different but what the heck. So far my choices lined up with most other players.

at school right now, but I bought episode 5 and it will download whenever I turn my 360 on again. Really excited to finish the season.

Spoiler:

and really excited to see how everything pans out with my bite

I've downloaded it. I'll play it tonight.

That was pretty good, a very solid end cap to the season.

Just finished episode 5. Easily my GOTY.

Steam patched this morning. Guess I need to get to it and finish this thing.

I knew...

Spoiler:

That car full of groceries was going to factor into SOMETHING. Figured it was either this or planted as a seed for season 2

That was great! Depressing as hell, but great!

Annoyingly though I never got the "finished chapter 8" achievement OR the list of choices at the end (Just got generic "decision 1", "decision 2" filler text)

Just finished, brilliant game and my GOTY for sure.

Spoiler:

Although what happens if you didn't take the supplies?

Apparently even if you say you don't want to take them your group overrules you and takes them anyway

Excellent final episode. There is an extra little bit after the final credits. Don't know if you get it if you stop them rolling (I just sat there in a daze and let them roll by.)

Ok, I'm not really sure what happened when me game updated, but when I opened the game and tried to start episode 5 it asked me if I just wanted to use default choices for the episodes I skipped? I have definitely gone all of the way through episode 4 but I decided to "continue" episode 4 since it thinks I didn't finish it. But when I try to load up the game it just shows a black screen and has a noise in the background of what sounds like a train or something. It just sits there with that until I get fed up with it enough to close the game. Anyone have a similar experience or know of any fixes for it?

Spoiler:

Buscemi! The Vista Cruiser!

I didn't take them and he still gets pissed because he says "my people" took them

Dammit, Famous, that's twice an Idle Thumb has made me cry at an ending.

There are reports that Steam updater sometimes deletes your save data when downloading a new episode. Pretty major bug, but so far I haven't heard how to fix it or if it's even possible to do it. There are recommendations on other boards that people should backup their save data before downloading the latest update, but that's no comfort to people who have already been hit by it.

Spoiler:

When I saw the scene with the station wagon during the "Previusly on The Walking Dead" section, I figured it would come into play. Then, when I saw the station wagon in the front of the hotel, I said "Oh, sh*t!" because then I knew.

I hope you all looked in the bag.

It was great. Best episodic game ever.

To those wondering there is a confirmed bug on not getting the achievement for completing the episode.

Is that for Xbox or Steam? I know I got the platinum trophy for the PSN version.

I think they've gone a little overboard with the timed conversation decision stuff in this episode. I've already had a couple where I didn't even finish reading all the options before time ran out.

Although I understand why they use it, I've never been a fan of that mechanic in the first place.
