Steam Winter Sale 2012 - Seriously Guys, It Was Over Two Months Ago! Move Along!

Was looking at Cargo Commander. Anyone tried it? http://store.steampowered.com/app/22...

Man, I have KotOR 2 for Xbox, but last time I tried to play it, it was buggy as hell and I couldn't get through it. At this price, I may pick it up again and see if it runs on my wife's dusty old PC from '05. I've heard the fan patches make it a lot more enjoyable.

Woo hoo! Now I can live my dream of being a social misfit girl in the 1920s! (this is a great boardgame-like experience by the way.)

Thanks Tanglebon-bon!

Just chekcing, are we doing a Secret of the Magic Crystals thing again because I'm fine if we're not.

Oh god, I hope not.

Spoiler:

Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble is the new Secret of the Magic Crystals.

OOOoohhh Hotline Miami is 25% off. What are the chances that it's going to go lower?

Probably decent, but if it's worth $2.50 for you to play it for the next few days instead of waiting, just buy it now.

No badges for this sale?

Picked up Intrusion 2. Just 'cuz it looked cool.

Well, I'm waiting for the mac port (which the devs have said is coming) so I can wait for it to drop.

I've just noticed that Bethesda are pulling a fast one with Skyrim.

Previously, they had lowered the base price to £20 (it used to be £35), and now in the sale they've put the base price back to £35 and taken 33% off that, so it's now more expensive. You can get it cheaper elsewhere, undiscounted.

Don't buy Skyrim on steam.

There's also this.

Anime made after 1985 is the devil's work!

The steam sale also extends to some software.

Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble is the new Secret of the Magic Crystals.

I was under the impression Dangerous High is actually pretty good.

Yes. Now my shambling undead relatives I keep around will have a game they can relate to. IMAGE(http://i866.photobucket.com/albums/ab221/Strangeblades/Emoticons/smiley_emoticons_paketliebe.gif)

Thanks Parallax Abstraction!

My pleasure sir. Last episode's out too so you've got the entire collection of wonderful misery!

Ha ha! I just got my paycheck. Time to spend some money on games.

Yes it is, actually; it has won several awards for writing. By contrast, the Magic Crystals developers admitted that their game was pretty bad.

The Dangerous High developers deserve money, but this would be for the wrong reasons.

This sale is (supposed to be) peanuts compared to the Winter Sale. I think this is only the second annual Autumn one, and the discounts weren't as crazy -- or the duration as long -- as the Winter ones. The giant meta-games have only accompanied the world-shattering Summer/Winter events.

Quoted, because PXA gifted me the same thing, but with Stylez instead of Strangeboobs name.

Thanks man!

Having a baby this weekend, so likely no game purchases from autumn sale this time around. STEAM SALE BABY.

The trailer has some decent sounding writing, but the art is pretty bad.

So here's my theory on the topic. I'm guessing that the plan is to lower prices for the Autumn sale just enough to invite interest. That way the sales increase, but the profit keeps up. Then, during the Winter sale the prices will drop more to bring in all the people who didn't bite on the same games during the Autumn sale.

EDIT: By the way, I'm sure Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble is a fine and wonderful game. I don't really know. The premise just strikes me to be in the similar vein as Secret.

I've saved a bit of fun money. Today's the day to say goodbye to that.

I believe I had Dangerous High School Girls on my Wishlist. I played the demo a while back and I thought it was charming and boardgamey.

Ouch. Should have played the demo. It's not good. Looks like contra, but plays like a weird physics platformer.

Play the demo? I'm probably never even go to play the game. Onto the pile it goes.

Your theory is 110% correct. It's part of the endless fun of price differentiation and other long tail phenomena. It's the pre-sale sale!

I would agree with that for the most part, that is why I only buy stuff now I plan on playing or wait for games to hit certain "floors". You will very rarely see a big AAA game go below $2.50 regardless of age (see KOTOR2) and more modern games rarely go under $5
