SWTOR: Catch-All

Most of the raiding GC folks merged with another guild and left some alts in GC. I'm not 100% on the details but like ran, I will pass word to the correct folks.

The free to play 2 hour 1 time fast travel usage limitation is really sapping my will to play this game, couple that with no sprinting until level 15 and im doing a lot of running about.

I have one problem I hope someone can help me with
As a jedi consular i just got level 10 on my homeworld, went up to the fleet but couldn't interact with the advanced trainer, now im down on the next planet, the capital city, I cant seem to go back up through the shuttle bay to get to the advanced trainers again, when/how will i get the chance to choose a specialization ?

Leveling up, is it right that i have thousands of points I can use to attain upgraded abilities, Im not forced to make a choice yet, ive taken all the regular abilities from the regular trainers and am sitting on a few thousand exp points but nothing to do with them.
thanks

Would love to join some of you guys but to avoid lag I had to join the asia pacific RP server= Dav garagon? or something like that.

Once you hit 10 you should see a quest giver on the fleet when you get there and they'll guide you to the advanced trainer.

sh*te I must have missed them, and now im on the planet how can i get back to the fleet ?

i will go back to the shuttle area and have a look for the quest giver, thanks

Seriously? That sounds like a giant pain... Twenty hours later and I'm still patching the stupid thing, they're really not making it easy for me to want to play their game...

As for the Dark Side quests, I agree with Pur, the lust for power is a totally valid motivation, just look at Senator/Emperor Palpatine, perfect example right there.

There was a once a day skill that would transport you to the fleet; I don't remember what it's called.

There should also be a shuttle that will take you back up, which I think was viewable on the map.

I was the GWJ guild leader for both Republic and Imperial. Unfortunately after not logging in for 30 days, the game passed the ownership on to other random players. The Imperial Guild lost the majority of its members when servers were merged to JC.

The republic guild voted on merging with a more active guild (not gwj represented) for the ability to run 16 man content and more frequent raiding. We only had around 10 active members when the vote was put through to merge. However, the Gray Council was never formally disbanded. I choose to keep the guild as GC in case a lot of people came back for Free-2-Play.

But I don't have the guildmaster title any longer. I would love to see it go to Rez, but Bioware gave it to someone else who unfortunately isn't GWJ. The guild Republic Merged (unofficially) with was GAF. The players who ran that guild were Hobi and Unshakeable. Last I heard GAF was still going strong republic side.

I would love to see everyone rally under Rez since he's a really great guy if he wants to reboot Gray Council. I just hope we can get Guildmaster into his hands.

It's called Fleet Pass and it's unavailable to F2P players.

Despite the frustrating F2P experience, I find myself wanting to go back and see more of the class storylines. I can't handle F2P, so I might have to sub again.

If you're playing the Inquisitor storyline and want a good dark side story, you are out of luck. Don't play it past Act 1, in fact. For those who want a brief synopsis of the story, this isn't much of a spoiler but if you want to be completely surprised I'll put it in spoiler tags:

Spoiler:

Your adversary is an "arch-traditionalist." There is no deception, no politics, no manipulation, no intrigue... you simply fight against a guy who wants you dead because that's what he thinks tradition dictates.

It was so disappointing. Here you have a character that could either be like Darth Maul or Palpatine, two of the coolest sith ever, and they totally miss the ball with a flat, uninteresting storyline.

As for the f2p stuff: if you're limited to 2 bars, then it is pretty much impossible to play effectively with several of the classes. I had a 50 Marauder and there's no way I could play with 2 bars. I would use all 4 of my bars in most of my fights.

This type of stuff makes me wonder if they're gambling with the game again. I can see some executive decision being made about limiting them to 2 bars because of some 'by the time they need more they'll be hooked!' type nonsense.

This game is just a shame of wasted potential. It's worse than what AoC ever dreamed about screwing up with.

Thanks cheeba, for the spoiler, I created a Jedi Knight and an Inquisitor, but I really don't think I'll have the patience for both...
Seriously, I've little faith in their F2P, I'm convinced it'll scare off potential customers. Of course, that's just my opinion, I have no valid arguments, that's just the vibe I'm getting after having played 5 hours of it... So disappointing.

At one point there was mention of the ability to replay story missions. Not to change the result but just to see it again. Has anyone heard more about that?

Of those two I'd do Inquisitor. Jedi Knight is your prototypical goody two shoes KOTOR plot.

Ah, but you see, I have an irrational love for goody two shoes characters... ^_^ Will see if I put more time in it, anyhow, I just added a ludicrous amount of games to my pile what with the Steam sale...

I tried to download the client and the patch server was down every time I tried... =(

Breaking news: next week "Preferred Status" players will get 2 free action bars, for a total of 4.

That right there makes it much more likely that I'll keep playing when my game time card runs out. I run with both a Nostromo n52 and a Naga, and have my UI laid out more or less like the buttons on the hardware are. The fewest number of bars I can do that with is 3.

I hate myself right now. I checked out some of the SWTOR "story only" videos on YouTube and forgot how much I really liked the Bioware story, even if the gameplay got old. I even tried to YouTube the end of the trooper story and just couldn't.

So I decided to resub, at least so I can finish my republic class. My only hope now is I can bounce between GW and SWTOR and that the two games strengths will complement each other (that is GW has great gameplay but so-so story while SWTOR has great story but so-so gameplay).

Ah-ha! See! The FTP model works! It got you to resub.

Sadly, yes. But there were other factors like all the Star Wars related news about the Disney deal. Nostalgia also got the best of me.

Count me in among those looking for a Grey Council invite, if the guild ever manages to revert back to our control. I started a character (my first) yesterday... only level 4, but willing to give it a shot for a bit.

I logged my Smuggler in to find out I was the defacto guildmaster for the Grey Council. I'd be happy to hand the reigns off to anyone who would like it.

Though I've logged on several times throughout the weekend, and nobody else in the guild was on.

Check the last time Rezakh logged in. He mentioned he was interested in the position, but was having trouble getting the role assigned to him. If nothing else, please promote Rezakh to officer so he can invite family he had wanted to.

Hows the leveling? I really want to come back almost exclusively for the story line, but am I going to be forced to do a lot of off main quest leveling to be able to do that?

Depends on if you're FTP or a subscriber. Subscribers get rested bonus and if you're willing to buy xp boosts in the cartel store leveling is super quick. You still can't level just by story missions, but mix in a little space combat and PVP and you won't have to take that many side quests.

FTP do not get rest xp and from what I understand gain xp 25 percent slower than subscribers. So you need to buy consumables just to break even. It's ok for the first 20 levels but after that I could see it being a total grind.

I've preferred status (thanks to a canceled pre-order), and I'm finding it's a grind as early as level 5! I'm afraid I'm going to give up on this one, unfortunately... What a disappointment, I had such high hopes for a Star Wars MMO.

If you try and do nothing but the story quests you'll have a grind to maintain a decent level and gear.

They've designed the game around quest hubs and those will guide you along the way to your story quests. While you can skip those hubs and go straight to the story you'll be under leveled and under geared.

Interesting; I cancelled a couple of pre-orders because the debit card I had pre-ordered with on Origin needed to be changed. Long story short, their system wouldn't allow me to pre-order, and customer service said I would need to create a new Origin account which I wasn't about to do. I wonder if I have preferred status.

I'm done. I tried to get back into my Smuggler storyline, but the roadblocks for F2P are pretty obvious everywhere I go. I'd rather go play LOTRO where at least I get a sense of progression as F2P player...I don't feel that here, just zones with stuff that i *COULD* buy that would help me progress faster than the slow pace they've artificially set for me.

I had the itch to resub and finish my 5 (or 6) Alts' storylines. But I ended up getting into Knights of the Old Republic, and that pretty much took care of the itch, and I got the story of who this Revan character was that I did a bunch of quests for. Now I just wish I'd picked up KotOR II when it was 3 bucks during the Steam Sale.
