Questions you want answered.

I was disappointed with what they did to the web browser.
I don't use it much, nor expect much from it. I'd love if it could view flash, so I could watch the news from my local news website.

What they did was turn the "internet browser" in the menu bar into a clone of the sony store. You only seem to get search results within sony's network?
You have to use the "internet search" item to get the old browser now.

Why do we need another sony store? and why are they calling it an internet browser?

Do creatures with a primary olfactory sense have a different concept of time, and or, the present?

If you thing about it, our "right now" is very slim sliver in a timeline. We experience what is here right now because we use light to perceive it.

A dog at the same place knows what is there now, but also what was there a few hours ago; and probably has a sense if what was here most recently.

If one were writing sci fi or fantasy, this could make more interesting adversaries.

So you posit that blind humans have no sense of time?

No.
Perhaps that a blind human has a different concept of time than a sighted human.

Instantaneous input is coming more slowly, though still largely instantaneous.

The big difference being that a human brain will adapt to blindness, but it hasn't evolved for those other senses to be the primary source of perceiving the world.

Because a dog is specialized to scent, and the nature of scent's persistence in a place, I posit that creatures who have evolved to rely primarily on a sense such as scent may perceive something like time differently because they can effectively see into the past.

Come to think of it, it might be alot like having the heart from dishonored.

I meant to ask this at one point because it seems like a fun question that someone might know the answer to. Why are human bodies sometimes ever so slightly asymmetrical? I'm not talking about parts that aren't supposed to be symmetrical. For example, my right foot is very slightly bigger around the middle than my left foot. I notice this when wearing shoes that fit closely and wouldn't have noticed otherwise. Is this more common than not?

*waits for people to take this question to places he didn't mean to*

Personally, I think it would be weirder if a natural, imperfect process created absolutely perfect symmetry.

Not sure why, but it is super common. My feet are slightly different sizes as well. The one that annoys me the most is my left ear is lower than my right ear. People don't notice it unless I mention it, but it I know it's there.

People actually notice this on me because it makes my glasses sit crooked.

This is part of the uncanny valley effect. In CG it's efficient to model only one side and have the computer duplicate the other. Perfect symmetry is creepy because subconsciously you know it's not normal.

One of your testicles is larger than the other too, in all likelyhood, but if it's too much get checked for testicular cancer.
Sorry, it's in my conciousness. A friend is going through cancer treatment right now.

The question I'd like to ask is basically the opposite - "why isn't the human body more symmetrical?"

Point me to a site where I read a good, detailed synopsis of every episode of the Lost series. I watched the first 3 seasons but gave up when they showed them off the island.

I gave up seven episodes in when I realized these creators aren't gonna answer sh*t, about the questions they are dropping for the viewers. What about the polar bear? I dunno, let's just throw in black smoke. What?

I'm sorry I'm not being helpful but that series should have ended after the AMAZE-BALLS AWESOME-NAWSOME first episode. One of the best pieces of brilliance I've ever seen. *cough* I'm done now.

Internally it's very asymmetrical. Most of your organs are asymmetrical, although specifically oriented in a certain way.

What was wrong with - File, Edit, View ..... across the top of software? Why is everything a ribbon and buried behind a mystery meat icon now? I was taught that mystery meat icons were poor web design.

And get off my lawn.

SB,

Spoiler:

The polar bear came from the zoo, after swimming across the bay from the small island to the main island. Still beats me about the smoke.

The smoke as actually Jacob's brother, the man in black.

What's the best way to clean cloth in a car interior? My kid apparently enjoys wiping his hands on the armrests in the back. Do I just use carpet cleaner and a rag? I honestly have no idea.

cover your kid's arm in bleach-soaked socks, and then use those police plastic handcuffs to keep them on. Eventually, the kid will get bleach on all the surfaces that he messed up, and it should even out.

It depends on what you are cleaning off. Is it just dirt and grime from daily life? Is the littler punk getting candy and juice all up on it?

For just simple dinge, you can use dish soap like Dawn and a scrub brush. Agitation is key to cleaning upholstery. For food and such, get your hands on some resolve or Bissel carpet cleaner.

For faster drying I suggest then go at the armrest with a shop vac or a rented upholstery cleaner and then crack the windows to dry it out over night.

Thanks started from the beginning and it is great reading!

I've got a rather sizable list (~200 items) of locations, by lat/long. This list is currently stored in an Excel file. Is there an easy way of importing this into Bing/Google maps to help visualize where the locations are and relative distances to each other?

Try http://batchgeo.com It looks as if it might be what you're looking for.

Holy cow, that was easy!!!! I just spent the last few hours working on getting everything converted to the right format (XLS>CSV>GPX) and imported, but I'll definitely bookmark this for the next time (if there is a next time). Thanks!

My vision has degraded enough that I need to get a new set of glasses.

Should I go for contacts instead? (I have used them before, they didn't bother me.)

How has Apple managed to convince people that Face Time is the only way to video chat?

SixteenBlue wrote:

BECAUSE WE SAY SO

Also, pre-installed app = path of least resistance for a lot of people.

I've heard people justify buying iPhones solely to Facetime with their significant other. Didn't Apple used to always say "there's an app for that?" I feel like Google should jump on that catchphrase now.
