Playstation 4 Games Catch-All

The lineup of free games for the Vita is great! My Vita pile is quickly becoming huge. I may even get beyond the first 3 hours of Final Fantasy Tactics (third time's the charm).

So that should also mean I can get a free downloadable version of War of the Lions right for my PSP right? Buy it on the PS3 and transfer it over?

Yeah, I believe that would work.

Yeah. This sold me on PS+, even just for the vita goodies.

I hope so! It all depends on whether or not the PSP is capable to activating a Plus license. There's a chance that Plus has to be baked into the OS.

Niiiiice. I really liked Really Big Sky, so I'm stoked for this.

So I don't know what the regular going price is for them, but episodes 3 and 4 of The Walking Dead were listed as $5 for me. I'm assuming that's the standard rate, considering PS+ discounts are typically highlighted in yellow with the original slashed out. However, considering you get The Walking Dead Eps. 1 and 2 for free, you're looking at an excellent game for $15.

And I do mean excellent, though this is one game I may have to concede would be better with keyboard and mouse. Nonetheless, a lot of fun, I haven't had much trouble with the controls, and I'm more curious than ever about their Jurassic Park and Back to the Future games (though part of me still wonders why you'd make a Back to the Future game).

Back to the Future was perfect for an adventure game. Doc got lost again and you need to find him. Walking Dead is better overall, though.

Jurassic Park, by all accounts, was the travesty.

PS+ for Vita this week. Joy!

Yeah BttF was fun. Some of the puzzles were obtuse, as traditional adventure games, but a handy walkthrough kept things on pace. It was a really fun story with great voice acting. Worth playing if you like the movies at all.

And yeah, avoid JP, says everyone. Can't tell you any more except that I've never heard anything good about it.

And yes, Walking Dead is the best thing they've done by far, so far.

I got Jurassic Park for free when I first joined PS+. I did not make it through the first episode. OTOH, The Walking Dead is amazing.

I picked up a PS+ sub this weekend, primarily for Vita. I grabbed a few of the games to download for PS3 and I'm looking forward to give RE5 a playthrough. I'm seriously considering letting my XBL Gold sub lapse in favor of this, as I'm not doing much multiplayer at all.

Likewise. I'm still DL'ing RE5, but I gave Double Dragon neon & Scott Pilgrim quick tries. Both cute, but not a style of game I enjoy any more, now that I'm no longer in a physical arcade

I was going to grab RE5 and R&C:All 4 1 or whatever it was called this weekend, but I don't think that my 1.8GB connection is up to it! I'll have to go to my dad's at the weekend and use his fibre optic connection.

Does anyone know what Jet Set Radio weighs in at? I don't want to have to wait for that one, and need to work out whether I need a new card.

Now that I've got the PS+ subscription, I'm tentatively thinking about swapping in a larger HDD on my PS3. It's a launch original, so I'd rather not risk blowing it up

So, can you just buy a standard HDD and swap it out?

Yes, PS3s use laptop (2.5") HDDs, so you can swap any drive you want into one.

I've done it before. You'll want to have additional external drive (USB) to run the backup tool to copy off your current stuff before inserting the new one. The transfer takes a long time and doesn't get quite everything, but it's so nice to have 500gb free to download whatever strikes your fancy.

You may also need to get the firmware on a FAT32 formatted USB stick. I swapped the drive and had to install and format the 500 GB drive from that. I had a 40 GB unit.

I did exactly this a couple of weeks ago when I signed up to plus. I considered backing up my drive and doing a transfer by USB and in the end decided that all I really needed from the original drive were my saved games.

Once plus was active I uploaded all my saves to the cloud, swapped the disk (easiest disk swap I've ever seen, the thing is designed to be home swapped), started up with the new disk and downloaded all my saves. I then redownloaded the few psn games I had bought digitally.

Does the PS3 just install the firmware automatically? Or, I guess, that's where the thumb drive comes in? Other than P4:A saved games, I don't feel the need to preserve too much on my PS3 as it currently stands.

Everything was automatic, I never had to download or install firmware via an external stick / drive.

Confirmed, no extra source of firmware is necessary. It's apparently written to some deeper internal storage, leaving the hard drive dedicated to games and media.

Also, if your hard drive is brand new you might need to plug it in to a computer first, just to get a MBR and partition written first.

I will give Sony credit for doing this right. They may not be able to get their other systems to work in a natural, or often even easy-to-use way, but the process for upgrading your PS3 hard drive is incredibly easy.

Its not live on vita yet right. No sign of the free stuff on vita or ps3 store

The firmware update is not available yet. The free stuff won't be available until the store update tomorrow.

It's cool that not only will the web browser be better optimized, you won't have to quit the game you are playing to use it. I might actually start using it now. It's possible that it would be great for browsing the internet while on the couch watching TV or something. Can't wait to try the new firmware.

Yeah. My current hard drive is corrupted, so I wouldn't be able to save anything anyway. I may have to give this a shot in the neat future since I'm going to have a plus subscription.

It is nice to hoard a pile of shame that I don't actually have to feel guilty about. The list of games on my PS3 drive just keep growing and growing...
