The Walking Dead (from Telltale Games) - Catch All

Cool, she's on board so I think we're going to give it a shot. But now I have to look into getting a wireless keyboard/mouse because she wants to play it up on our home theatre screen instead of my tiny cramped PC gaming room.

Spoiler:

-Offed the kid for Kenny. He's already going to have sleepless nights, I don't understand how killing a zombie that looks like Duck is going to help him find closure. Pretty sure he's still grieving and suffering from PTSD. I don't know if that's the right kind of therapy.
-Took Clem with me to crawford. Made a plan to stick together and honestly, if she wasn't there as an anchor, then Ben would be zombie food. As with the the station wagon in the woods, she surprises me sometimes with how strong her moral fiber is. I think she sent a good message. Doesn't matter if Ben is a total loser, my group doesn't leave good people behind.
-Told Vernon he couldn't have Clem. I don't understand why he insists he can take better care of her. How safe is that mortuary? No where is safe. Everyone is infected. You die of old age, cancer, starvation, whatever...you're a walker.
-Told everyone about the bite. Lee is boned, clem has been taken and I'd feel terrible if I ended up eating my friends' brains during the rescue mission (hope I don't get salt-licked by Kenny).
-Took everyone with me. I'm gonna be pulling all the stops to save Clem if she's in trouble. Even Ben can be useful as a distraction.

I also lost my saves and would definitely appreciate it if anyone comes across a way to get save files without having to replay Episodes 1-3.

Do you have the game on Steam? This is the solution to the problem that I encountered after doing the Steam file update:

Check your Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead folder to see if the save files are there. Then go check your steamapps\common\The Walking Dead\Pack\Default. There may be a file here called "perfs.prop" that is confusing the game. Make a backup of this file and replace it with the one in the save file directory. (I think you might just be able to just delete that file after backing it up but I haven't tried that.)

I've been playing it with an XBox controller on PC.

Skimming because I don't really want gameplay impressions - I've heard there are save bugs, but the people saying this are all playing the PC version. Does the 360 version have the same issues?

Looks like you can win a chance to be in Season 2.

This is also the first I'm hearing about a confirmed Season 2 and what the story line is going to be. Sounds interesting, but it sounds like the group you play with now will be ditched after Episode 5.

Played through the most recent episode in one sitting. I get engrossed and just don't want to stop, not to mention, it honestly doesn't take that long to go through an episode.

Spoiler:

I saved Ben, as much as a f*ck up he is, I just couldn't let that goofy bastard die

Edited to hide potential spoiler.

Isn't that the first person shooter that's based on the TV show? Telltale makes the adventure game.

That game is produced by a different studio, and is not a Season 2 for this game (though playing as Darryl from the TV show sounds like it could be a great time).

I expect that, assuming Telltale does a season 2 (which I think is pretty likely, given the success of this season), that it won't be with Lee & company, though they may get a cameo.

[Edit: Tannhauser'ed]

That article mentions a second season of the adventure version too

Yeah Telltale confirmed the season season a few months ago.

I wish that would work for me, but my old hard drive failed and I have a brand new drive. I'm hoping to recover my files but I'm not sure if that will actually happen yet. Hopefully I'll know soon, but a save game creator or library of other people's saves and the choices they made would be really helpful right now, and I know from even a cursory search that I'm not alone.

Kind of an odd question, perhaps:

I am a fan of THE WALKING DEAD, obviously, having played the game, watched the first two seasons of the TV show and read all of the comics. I haven't gotten around to them yet, but there are also TWO novels that focus on...

...Mild spoilers...

Spoiler:

...The Governor and how Woodbury got started.

Reading some of the reviews, some people knocked the second book in the series because it featured "Lilly," a character that was shown briefly in the comics, as the main character. Their gripe was that they assumed this was supposed to be the same "Lilly" as in the Telltale games, and that the book version was different than the game version.

I must admit that I never thought these were the same characters, and I've never seen anyone in this thread or elsewhere mention the idea that they were SUPPOSED to be the same characters. Is this just a coincidence in the naming department, or is she really supposed to be the same Lilly from the comics/novel?

I'm onboard with the Walking Dead. I was going to wait for a sale :P. Glad I didn't. I'm early in episode 4 at the moment. The quality of this series is astonishing.

Release date of the final episode is dropping soon. It will release sometime this month.

I never thought I'd say this....

It's too soon! I'm not ready for it to be over! I can't go back... but I want to go back... but I can't go back... don't make me go back....

*curls in fetal position*

I just played through the first 3 episodes over the last week and I must say this is probably the best adventure game I have ever played.
Considering that I'm a huge fan of Grim Fandango and Curse of Monkey Island it means I am truly impressed.
Can't wait to play the next episodes and seasons.

I definitely recommend it.

I think they're intended to be the same character, but admittedly I believe the game's character is Lily as opposed to Lilly. I know it's a quibble, but different spellings probably indicate different people, at least to me. Whether that's intentional and they are different people with very similar names, or a goof on Telltale's part, I don't know.

I haven't heard of any problems with the 360 version. It's been spotless for me...no save game issues, no slow down at all.

This, many times over. The day it drops I'll have to play the whole thing through, but I'm hoping that day is several more weeks out...

We'll end up playing as whoever owned that car full of supplies in episode 2?

Do you have any links to back up your notion that it's the same character? I'm just curious as to whether or not it WAS a mistake, was intended to be the same character, or what.

EDIT:

Looking at the character list on Wikipedia, it certainly doesn't seem to be referenced.

Final episode coming out next week. 20th for PSN and 21st for the rest.

I hope it comes out early int he day

Leaving for Family stuff late evening (9PM) and want to beat it before then.

I decided to finally pick up the walking dead and I had some cheap points so I picked up the first episode on the xbox and will pick up the rest after that.

After a bit of a hiatus, I started playing episode 4 a few days ago and I finished it last night. In my opinion, it was not as strong as 2 or 3, but it was on par with episode 1.

Spoiler:

I saved Ben, because he's just a stupid teenager and doesn't know better. You don't get off that easily for your screw-ups. I also managed to get the whole group to join me, even though Kenny was starting up his selfish bullsh*t. At the beginning of episode 3, I was all ready to dump Kenny for Lily, until she crossed the line. I've been trying to repair that relationship ever since, but Kenny is so damn stubborn.

Since I'm planning to visit relatives for Thanksgiving, the question is whether I'm going to try to play and finish off episode 5 before I leave, or wait until I get back. Decisions, decisions.

I really enjoyed episode 4. I thought there were some great quiet, character moments and I'm so invested in the characters now that it all mattered. I've enjoyed all episodes pretty equally. Some thoughts on episode 4:

Spoiler:

I don't like the shooting. It's borderline tolerable. The last sequence was better, possibly because it was a shotgun.

When I reluctantly let Clementine come with me to sneak into the compound she went up stairs saying, "I'll get ready." I was disappointed when she didn't come back in a makeshift ninja outfit.

I love the way Lee said the word 'hopscotch.'

Interview with writer and director about episode 4. *Spoilers 'n' that for 4*

I had a bit of black humor moment and muttered "Duck no longer thinks you're incredibly awesome" when I was aiming my gun at the dying child. I guess that makes me a monster, huh? :(

Welcome to the club.

Spoiler:

At least you didn't try to see if you could wing him, like I did.

Spoiler:

I was really surprised to see how few people made Kenny take care of Duck. I can't think of a more horrible situation for a parent to go through, but having someone else take care of it just seems like turning your back on the child in their final moments. As tough as it was for Kenny, I thought that by killing Duck myself, Kenny would end up resenting me and start drawing parallels between that event and Lee's start as a convicted murderer.

Regarding the lead-up to episode 4:

Spoiler:

It's great from a story perspective I suppose, but some guy from Savannah talking on Clem's radio was just too jarring. Those things just don't have that kind of range, and reception from one point on the ground to another is spotty at the best of times. Also, from the relationship I have with Clem I'm skeptical she'd keep something like that from me. If episode 4 doesn't open with someone asking Clem about the guy on the radio I'll be disappointed.

This game is the buggiest POS I have ever had the displeasure of playing.

For the 3rd time, my save games have been lost. This time after upgrading to Windows 8, despite backing up all the files.

I'm really not interested in playing Ep. 1 for the 3rd time, guess I'll just start with #2.
