Supernatural - Salt and Burn All

Groundhog Day episode!

Yes, I'm in season 3.

I can honestly say that there isn't a Trickster episode that I don't like.

Totally. Richard Speight, Jr. is a really great actor, always managed to make you like the guy even when he was doing the most horrible crap to the boys.

Spoiler:

And the reveal that he was Gabriel was one of the best twists the show ever managed. I was so gutted when they killed him off, even though I understand why - it would have been too much of a tension-killer to have an archangel around and willing to help out. The scene where Luci stabs him is brilliantly acted, Speight just shows everything on his face, love, betrayal, regret.

They're all hilarious.

Woot! Caught up after a 3-week behindedness delay.

Brief thoughts:

Spoiler:

I don't really trust AR's facile explanation of an angel incursion. There's something more going on. Also, Metatron's probably going to figure in more this season, as might Chuck, if he's being brought up again as a prophet/God.

PLEASE show more of that witch. Less than 5 minutes on-screen, and she's already got my crushing like crazy

Note for Quintin Stone, if he's reading: the actress who plays the witch is in a band with Alison Brie in real life.

"Asia, Sam!"

Note: Alexis has made that her morning alarm for the last month or so

Finally caught up w last episode. Really happy

Spoiler:

Castiel is back

. He's no doubt my favorite character on the show. Well, him and Garth who cracks me up every time he's on screen. Curious to see who the lady was that Cas needs to report to now. I'm guessing

Spoiler:

Metatron

since he was mentioned.

Sam....Sam...You think you're being funny but you're being really really childish. Sam Winchester wears makeup. Sam Winchester cries his way through sex...

Sigh, still cracks me up to this damn day. Yay Trickster episodes.

I just got caught up myself, and...

Spoiler:

I LOVE where they're taking this. I did not see the Castiel angle at ALL, and it's VERY exciting. I also love the mention of Metatron, and wonder how prominently he'll play in the final seasons to come. VERY good stuff. And even though his episode was goofy as hell, I kinda like Garth becoming the new Bobby...

I know that Crowley is a coward at heart but

Spoiler:

he's still the king of hell. Castiel's display of power seemed to unnerve him. Are we to infer that Cas has come back from purgatory with more power than before?

Spoiler:

Not sure yet, he certainly came back more powerful after the Lucifer incident.

Spoiler:

I think that being King of Hell is a title, and more about the number of nuts you have in a vice. In a standup fight, most angels (particularly one of Cas's badassitute) will easily squish most demons.

Spoiler:

Not sure why we are using spoiler tags for all this? It's all been aired stuff. I agree though, king of hell is mainly just a title and while he is probably the most powerful of demons I think Angels are on another level altogether and therefore feared by evil. Also he did escape from purgatory, and Crowley doesn't know how, so he really has no idea what Castiel's abilities are and he wasn't willing to call Castiel's bluff, which I think is what Castiel was hoping for. Also, Castiel. :)

Ok, so demons are established as humans that are in changed so much by the tortures of hell they lose any morality and are willing and able screw over humans with their powers (i.e. deals, possession, etc.,.). Lilith was the oldest, the first demon ever. Even she shied away from the angels, always preferring to be under the radar. That's not to say she didn't get her hands dirty, but she never stuck around long enough for Castiel or his ilk to smite her.

Spoiler:

So Crowley kept his head down and watched as his biggest competition fell (Azazel, Lilith, maybe even Ruby) and wound up on top. It seems that king of hell might be a title that he manipulated his way into, but it does grant you access to souls which give him power enough to keep the position it seems. So even a soul-empowered demon ran from Castiel once it appeared that he was back up to full strength. That should tell you the pecking order. Lucifer certainly did have a crazy amount of power, but that came from being the first archangel. I don't think anybody will be able to fill his shoes regardless of how old a demon they are.

That's how I see it.

*added spoilers just in case*

I think you guys are spot on. Castiel is no one to mess around with when he's at full strength, he's proven that several times over.

Since Lucifer was a Angel that became the devil, and has souls as his source of powers I believe that pretty much trumps everyone elses spades.

OMG, finally, a coffee table book covering my favorite show!

Yaaaaaay!

Does season 4 get better? I'm really not interested in this whole angel and god thing. Just not connecting.

Yes. Yes it does.

As for myself I no longer watch it for the whatever they are killing that week. My wife and I call the show, 'The Boys', meaning we watch it for the antics. And Bobby.

Once the final seal was broken, I think they kinda lost their way. By season 4, it's basically "oh another omnipotent being that Sam and Dean have to kill with a knife and a lot of luck." It's not boring, because watching "The Boys" banter is fun.

And Bobby is one of the best characters ever.

This is for the season four finale. It has to do with a certain guy and a certain guy. You've been spoilered warned.

Spoiler:

That bit with the Impala, the toys and the Lego? That broke my heart.

That's the season five finale (the end of the show's creator's original arc), and yeah, that always breaks my heart too.

Oh and yes, season four is fantastic. There's an episode near the end of the season, maybe 3/4s of the way in, written by Ben Edlund that STILL gives me chills.

Spoiler:

"On the Head of a Pin", the one where Dean tortures Alistair. OMG one of my favorites. So f*cking dark, I love it.

In the last episode I watched Dean was scared the whole time. That was fun. I like when they're having fun. Can't wait to see more of the trickster episodes.

Ah, scaredy cat Dean. Was that the episode where he is scratching all the time?

Can I just keep using the netflix thread?
