Listen to Devin Townsends new album, Epicloud, streaming. It is indeed both Epic and Loud. Excellent effort as usual from my favorite musician today.

Also, to add to the coolness, they have their own microbrew beer!

I've been rolling around this thread for an hour or so, these guys really stuck out to me. Very unique sound. Check 'em out.

Seems like not enough people in this thread actually talk about what other people post ;(

garrion, that while I kinda like the instrumentation of You and What Army, the vocal combo reminds me too much of Linkin Park, and the glitching pushes it over the edge.

My deluxe pre-order arrived in the mail. Amazing, as expected. The second disc (demos) AKA Epiclouder is also incredible!

And the ending has a distinct Lamb of God feel. \m/

Didn't realize they had released a track already. You can download it for free from their site.

Nice!

Can y'all include in your posts what you're talking about? Those clips won't load on ios Safari, so it could be a live clip of a new Beatles reunion for all I can tell.

Can do. In this case it was about Deftones

Thank you, kind sir! You're a gentleman and a scholar.

This is slightly related to metal, and I don't know where else to put it, as it probably doesn't deserve its own thread.

Fangoria and Scott Ian have teamed up with the Nerdist Channel to bring you the all new show "Blood & Guts."

The new Neurosis album released this week.

[b]Back to metal.

New Sword album is fantastic.

Been grooving to the new Between The Buried And Me album.

Yeah it really is. It might be their best, they are really hitting their stride.

And of course, we are all in thrall to the Demiurge.

Thanks for the heads up! One of the few acts I've seen live that absolutely did not disappoint.

Edit: Has been running in the background and my foot hasn't stopped tapping along... Great start to my day! Set adrift in the Multiverse indeed!

Edit2: Just got to the live tracks at the end of the album. Fan frigging tastic.

I thought I'd already posted about this, but I have not. Revocation has a new, *free* EP out, Teratogenesis. FREE!

I discovered these guys last year and they've quickly become one of my favorite bands. They are a cool blend of thrash/death/technical/just plain awesome. They rock hard, and their musicianship is amazing. But most importantly, they rock hard.

Get the free EP! It's free! Here's the fairly hilarious video for track one:

Fantastic tip. This is what I'm really needing to listen to right now.

Thanks

Glad to see a mention of that Revocation EP. It is insane. Love it to pieces.

Thank you! I was beginning to think no one else liked them, and they are borderline my favorite metal band out right now!

I will also thank you for the heads up about Revocation. I hadn't heard them before, but I added them to my Spotify (and downloaded the EP) and have been listening to them quite a bit the last couple days.

I may have already posted this video of No Funeral, from Revocation's most recent album:

Or this video from their album before that:

Seriously, every Revocation album has some truly fantastic songs.

Btw, when educating myself about a band, especially before a show, I find setlist.fm to be an invaluable resource. A couple years ago I made myself a Revocation playlist out of their most-played live songs, and it was killer throughout. I need to update that playlist, actually.

Time to give something back. I haven't seen this guys mentioned here before. Either because they weren't, or because I'm filthy and I skim like a mother eff. Anyway, there's a prog metal supergroup around called Soen:

Band members are former Opeth drummer Martin Lopez, ex-Death, Testament and Sadus bassist Steve DiGiorgio, Willowtree vocalist Joel Ekelöf and guitarist Kim Platbarzdis.

I really dug the vibe on this one.

God damn these guys rock. That one would be hilarious to try to play on Rock Band.
Heading to the Amazon store.

I dig it too, the vocals are strong but kinda soothing. Watched a few more songs on YouTube, this is one talented band.

Got a very Tool, Perfect Circle vibe to it. I like it a lot.

Gott-damn! Can't stop listening to Revocation's No Funeral.

Musicianship \m/

Musicianship m/

No Funeral is one of their catchiest, most straight-ahead songs. Love it. I only wish, as a songwriter with a love of big choruses, they played the chorus a third time somewhere after the solo break.

One really cool note is that after the first two albums, they added a second guitarist, and their material hasn't taken a step back at all. He seems to shred just as hard as Davidson does. I was a little concerned that another guitarist's input would dilute the insanity of what Davidson is doing. I think Dismantle the Dictators (from when they were a trio) is possibly the best example of that fabulous guitar insanity. It's kind of a challenging song for a first-time listener - more technical and dissonant, where No Funeral is more thrashy and has a big chorus.

I really need to get to work on the ultimate Revocation playlist, because it's a long list of killer songs that you can just rock out to nonstop.

Some other favorites of mine: ReAnimaniac, Pestilence Reigns.

Now I can't stop listening to this album, it's fantastic. I get the similarities to Tool, and nothing against them, but I think this surpasses anything Maynard has done.
