Android Games Catch-All

I'm really impressed with the NGSMW game. On a 7" tablet, the tilt controls are a lot of fun. I never really got on with racers on my iPad as they feel too unwieldy, and too crowded on my phone, but the middle size is the sweet spot for me. It really is a very well executed game.

Evening on my sgs3 it does well for the small screen. Lots of fun.

The screen on the S3 is quite a bit bigger than the iPhone. Kinda wish that I had that rather than the iPhone 5. It's really a personal thing with racers, though; the Vita screen is big enough for me, for example.

New Humble Bundle for Android announced!

Splice, Eufloria, Waking Mars, Machinarium, Crayon Physics Deluxe, and Superbrothers: Sword & Sorcery EP.

So far as I know, this is the first time I've seen Superbrothers available on Android. I've already got it through the Humble Bundle, but having it on-the-go may get me to play it more than I already do on Windows...

I have a Google Play/Wallet balance I'd love to use for this, but it's not letting me. Shut up and take my money!

I am humbled.

Cheers!

Yeah, nice bundle, that. I'm in

Looks like my Google Play balance is only good in their store. Bit on the deal anyway.

Here is a fun little retro looking open world RPG called 9th Dawn: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....

I've played about 2 hours so far on my Nexus 7 and it is good. It is an action RPG with a dual stick setup which works pretty well. I can say that it does feel open world in that there already seem to be hidden areas and I found a quest that I was not given. but found an item while exploring which led to a new questline. For 1.99, it is definitely worth a look.

That does look cool, but I find the opening pitch somewhat hilarious.

Are you a fan of oldschool RPGs like Ultima, but crave the openness and exploration in modern games?

I laughed as well.

Why? Ultima is a corridor shooter.

So I just bought a Nexus 10. What games would really benefit from the bigger screen?

And

What do folks use for a review site. I love appspy.com for Apple stuff but I haven't found anything remotely as good for Android games. Are there any good sites to check out?

Apparently some of the EA and Gameloft games are supposed to be updated to accommodate the AMAZING resolution of the AWESOME screen on the 10.

I'm going to wait to see what's up. I already have a bunch of apps/games for my tablet (Iconia) so I'll be able to report back with compatibility after I get it

I'll just leave this here

Be prepared for change.
This looks awesome.

Well I bought the Humble bundle figuring that would give me a few games to try and so far I am disappointed. Avadon is so tiny you can't even realistically click on the commands and Mechinarium moves so slow it is like I am playing on a 486. Not impressing me.

Avadon specifically says tablet only.

Splice and Eufloria have been great fun on my phone and tablet both run smooth and are nice ports.

Osmos is great, and I've found Splice pretty darn intriguing. I played loads of Canabalt, and Crayon Physics Deluxe is pretty fascinating.

I read that too but on the Nexus 10 is is way to small to use.

Really? I played it a bit on my Nook, which is a 7-inch. I remember it being small, but not too difficult to use.

Ah, didn't realize that. Bummer. It's small but usable on an iPad, that's the only reference point I have.

It seems like it keeps the same scale so with 3 extra inches it is even smaller.

Play store list of apps/games on sale today

http://mobilesyrup.com/2012/11/23/a-...

I do not understand what is compatible and what isn't. I saw on groan's list that "the adventures of tin tin" was on sale. I liked it on my iPad and 99 cents seemed fine. However when I try to add it to my Nexus 10 it tells me it is incompatible with that device. Why? It can work on the Nexus 7 so it can do tablets.

It is kind of frustrating because I think several apps are like that which I want to try on the N10.

Ya, that's stupid. also not compatible with my Galaxy s3. Arguably 2 of the most powerful and graphically capable devices out there.
But it is compatible with my Iconia.

I know the Iconia has the Nvidia chips and the others do not. I know there was that issue when the Tegra chips came out. Thought most of that was passed over now though.

That must be the restriction though I don't see it listed in the description.

I'm pretty sure the developer of an app sets the compatibility restrictions, so either they haven't updated it yet for your device or there exists some unresolved error. I'm still kind of bummed that they never made Plants vs Zombies compatible for my TF300.

I bought the latest Humble Bundle mostly for Splice and I'm quite impressed, probably the best feeling touch screen game that I've played. The gameplay can be a little confusing at first but once you realize the structure is basically a binary tree then things start to fall into place.

Alright so I've totally wasted hours this weekend playing Marvel: War on Heroes

I think it's cross platform with the iPhone version, since the friends that signed me up have that, and we were still able to be team members. I guess it's your typical card collecting/battle game, although I've never really delved into that genre before. It's got an energy mechanic you use to fight missions that then recharges 1 per minute. So it's great for me to jump in and waste 5 minutes on my phone and then come back and check an hour later and waste 5 more.

Anyway, if you want to sign up, here's my referral code that gets us both a free rare card and currency: ahk533708

Just enter it after the tutorial.

Don't know if the iOS players have a GWJ Alliance up yet or not. Guess I should poke over in their thread. I joined up with a random group of Browncoats that invited me, couldn't resist that. I don't think you can start an Alliance until level 20 and I'm only 15 or so.

Also, if anyone's already playing and just wants me as a team member, my username is Ste1e. That's the number 1 replacing the L in my name. Stupid people taking my name already. :p
