I just have one question. ONE question.

Where the hell is my Dragon Quest X?! GIMME.

Since all of you bums failed to help me out, I took some time and did some more digging, and this is still looking as bleak as I last recall. There's been no indication from Square-Enix or Nintendo that they're going to bring this over to the North American market, which makes me very disappointed.

I don't think the outlook's bleak at all. I think once the Japanese Wii U version is out in the first half of next year we'll hear about a localization. I'm expecting it to release here about a year from now.

Well, patience isn't my problem, I just don't want them to skip us over like they used to with Dragon Quest stuff.

Instead enemies cough up little jewels that... do stuff? I can't quite tell, honestly. Sometimes my character is surrounded by fields of light, and there are little timers in the corner that count down my power-ups, but nothing has any dramatic enough effect that I look forward to it at all or even know what's happening.

It is to power up your character.

I figured, but I don't notice a difference. Whatever changes are made are so incremental that it doesn't make what the enemies drop very engaging.

Not sure if this is technically a JRPG or not, but the Half Minute Hero localizers (I forgot if it's NIS or Xseed) are running a survey to gauge interest in localizing the sequel:

Got a lot more The Last Story in this weekend. Up to Ch28. Maybe 15 hours of playtime?

Definitely a lot of fun. Think I've unlocked all of the special skills for my party members now, so I really have the full range of combat to play with. Loving it.

As for the story, great so far. I'm not entirely sure who the real bad guy is... For the longest time I suspected

Spoiler:

The Count. Even his character intro talks about Calista's parents dying and you think he's the real evil.

But the way Dagran keeps running off on his own... and especially right before the General died. And he admits to framing Jirall. Makes me wonder who is really making deals with the Gurak?

And of course Knight Therius is still a bit of a mystery. He seemed loyal to the general and I'd hate to think he killed him. But I really can't see Jirall being competent enough to do it. He's shown his cowardice in battle and I don't think the General would have been sneaked up on by him. The only two people the General would have let his guard down for are maybe the Count and Therius. And then Dagran might be capable enough to have killed him heads up, and definitely ran off just before.

General said "don't trust him" but I'm still not sure who him is. :?

No Stele, I won't go back and play 2012's Game of the Year again.

Don't feel bad Stele, I'll gladly remember it should be on my list for next year

I want it so bad. IMAGE(http://i.imgur.com/FhEDz.jpg)

So is that a remaster of Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky?

I can't read Japanese. Except for the second character in the title. That is "no". That's all I know.

Also, Colin from Who's Line. Nice.

I've been playing The Last Remnant on the PC. Pretty fun so far. Was jonesing for a JRPG and I only have a PC and 360 controller. Some one on the localization team is a genius. One of the main characters is frequently referred to as "Dave" and everyone goes in to an awkward silence. A few other nice translation touched too. Interesting combat and fun mechanics. It's scratching the itch.

Underestimated my time earlier. Was actually up to 20+ hours on the Last Story. And now up to 24 or so after another run tonight.

Think I'm at the "point of no return" for the story. Trying to catch up on some arena battles and max out my armor the best I can at this point. Hopefully will finish tomorrow.

Yes. Here's the PSP box:

Wouldn't the "PSP Remaster" stick also give it away?

Nah, that's just a sticker. Any schmuck could have stuck that on there.

It does say HD edition. Or are they just saying that because it's on the PS3 and displays at a higher resolution?

Have they announced any NA plans for this?

Nope.

Edit: This is what Falcom's president had to say about getting Trails in the Sky: Second Chapter to North America:

"It is something we here at Falcom cannot do alone, but we will continue to discuss with Xseed to try to make that happen in the future," Kondo said. "There is perhaps a better possibility now because we are working on the code once again. We will definitely continue to discussions and see if there is a way we can put out an English version."

An HD collection of Trails in the Sky on Vita... *swoon*

That's quite the leap from anything mentioned so far. Although there's apparently a Vita port of one of the Trails games in development; Trails of Zero, which I don't think was ever localized. There's also a rumor that the Trails series will be moving to the 3DS and smartphones instead of being a Sony exclusive. Might be ports, might be the next game in the series, but that's interesting.

Well The Last Story is still awesome, but not finished.

Despite hitting the point of no return in Ch31 on Mon night, and getting in several hours last night, I am now up to Ch37 or so, and still not finished.

Awesome stuff, and I thought I was going to stay up late and push through last night, but a quick check of walkthrough without spoilers looked like I still have 3 more chapters to go or so.

As for my previous story thoughts from a couple days ago:

Spoiler:

Therius is in the clear. He just appears to have died or is at least too injured to fight more, after fighting insurmountable odds to protect the city.

Dagran pulled a f*cking sword on me right after the knighting ceremony. Still talking about everything he had done to get us in this position and how I was throwing it away. So he still seems like a prime suspect for the General's death.

The Count is of course an asshole. And yet, we ended up following him into the castle depths and awakening the Outsider. Kept wanting to tell him to piss off but we just kept on with his stupid plans.

Anyway now we've screwed up and the city is in ruins and the people are hiding in the sewer and I just sneaked into the Garak base for a counter-attack. Should be interesting how this finishes.

More The Last Story this afternoon. Up to Ch40. Longest post-"point of no return" game ever I think. :p

And I just noticed that even though 41 is technically the "end" there's 3 more chapters listed after that before I actually finish?

Not sure if there's much chance of finishing tonight, but hopefully I can push through this weekend. Don't want to leave another incomplete RPG in the pile.

There's a post-game. There's new arena stuff and about two hours of additional narrative. When you really want the game to end, Lowell's your man.

I'm curious, any chance of this breaking into your yearly top-10?

I'm not even sure I've played 10 games released in 2012.

Hm... ME3, TL2, BL2, Walking Dead, Xenoblade, SMT:DS2. I think that's it? Skyward Sword and Trine 2 were late last year right?

Anyway yeah it's awesome. I think I like it better than Xenoblade at this point. Although I should go back and finish that sometime...

The Last Story is done.

Wow.

If you haven't played it, why not?! One of the best RPGs in years, on any system.

High f*ckin' five. It's so good!

Guess I should get playing it

Just gonna drop this right here in case anyone missed it the first time.

Mini Xenoblade update. There is so many quests in just the starting area alone. The only one I can't seem to finish is the one on Agore Shore behind the Unique Brog. If that Brog is drawing heat on me I can't pick up the damn item. It then proceeds to kill me. Spent 10 hours so far. Enjoying it.

There is a 15-page Xenoblade topic., FYI.
