With the recent announcement of another DCS product - Combined Arms, I decided we should probably have just one catch-all thread for the various sims: Black Shark, A-10, Mustang etc. since much of the information gets posted in the sim specific threads.
Previous threads:
I missed this thread before. Cool stuff! I guess I'd better replace the SSD in my flight sim box.
So, are the other products for this game plugin modules? Or would I run the existing A-10C program, and connect to a server running this game?
So, if I already have DCS-10C, then after getting DCS World, I need the plugin to connect the two, is that how it works? So the P51 plugin on that first page you linked won't work without the P51 sim?
OMFG!
I used to be a total sim junky before I abandoned them for FPS and MMO's. This might just push me back into the immense time and brain sink of milsims.
Time to refresh that simhq bookmark!
Great news!
ED has opened it's arms to 3rd party developers and some are stepping up to the plate to develop for DCS World.
Here is a post from 3rd party Dev - IrisOkay, we've had the green light from TFC to let you all know the products we have planned from the IRIS team over the next 3 year development cycle.
(I hope they won't take that long to make! lol)Contracts have been signed for the following products;
IRIS F-15E Strike Eagle for DCS World
IRIS F-22 Raptor for DCS World
IRIS F-14D Tomcat for DCS WorldI will say that the F-15E is being developed with the intention of being submitted to ED as a DCS branded product (ie. DCS: F-15E Strike Eagle) and of course will be one of the longest to develop.
The F-22 will be looking at making use of the AFM for thrust vectoring and we'll be discussing this further with ED.
The F-14D is likely to be the first completed aircraft from the stable if all goes well.
We will be looking at the best way to develop these products from a business perspective over the coming weekend after a team meeting.
There MAY be another project being added to the list as a fourth product was dropped from the list at the last moment. We'll let you know when we know..
Anyway, have fun... it's nearly 1am here and I need to get away from this PC.. I'll see you all tomorrow..
Ciao folks..
Spanky.
This is pretty huge because 3rd party developers often do amazing work.
So the A-10 plugin is a complete, standalone game? No need to also have DCS-10C installed? Or do I need to install that to prove I'm licensed?
Man, I wish I had the time and finances to go for some proper simming. I'd be all over that P-51 sim like white on rice.
Very cool. I finally got an SSD to resurrect my workstation, of course now I've lost what little headway I had made in learning to fly the A-10. Is the DCS "fixed-wing American jet" still a mystery?
I just got everything updated to 1.2.1. Will probably be trying it out tonight. SimHQ points to some disturbing FPS issues but hopefully they'll not be too bad.
So after about an hour of tinkering I think I got it working. My frame rate is still pretty solid but I can definitely tell it isn't running as well as it was pre-patch. I really like the new impact graphics for the 30mm, I've been practicing gun runs on the instant action.
I haven't had a chance to read the article yet, but SimHQ just put up their preview on FC3.
I wish they'd do a fighter jet, but I'm sure they will eventually.

That's the undisclosed next craft. But you've got FC3 and the 3rd party content as well.
