Although I think I have the only one I can play already. No PSP or Vita for me.

Just a quick interjection: SixteenBlue, you were good to receive Radiant Historia, right?

Sure. Thanks!

I just have one question. ONE question.

Where the hell is my Dragon Quest X?! GIMME.

I got in on the Last Story deal late Sat night.

Just to confirm, it got here today. And it's the original edition, in the big box, with art book inside, and soundtrack CD shrink-wrapped in.

I guess I really should have ordered multiple copies for $8 and sold a couple.

Ah well. Unbelievable deal. Might crack this open this week (end).

EDIT: Wow. The box is like opening a book, nice cardboard collectible. Art book is amazing. Such loving packaging for this game.

Dang, that's really nice. Glad I was lucky enough to get in on that deal too.

Hey at least I'll have one person to play online with then. :p

You totally should have, because I've been waiting for a price drop (don't even have a Wii right now) but would have cheerfully paid three times that price.

Gaw. I'm stuck with you again? :p

Let me know when to start playing because otherwise... I probably won't for a long time.

Man, Stele, you got lucky. That is a fantastic game at any price.

FWIW, I thought the competitive online had a lot of potential, while the co-op felt a bit shallow.

Truly though, fantastic game. Knowing what I know now, I'd pay $100 for it.

Is it hard to get Last Story now? I got it on launch day just to get the big box but just got around to beating in a few weeks ago. Last I looked the Best Buy near me still had a big box copy in stock.

Well there was a sneaky short sale on Amazon the other night, so maybe the bigger boxes were taking up some stock space they wanted to clear for normal size games?

Anyway ran through the prologue couple of chapters tonight and got back to the city. Seems fun so far.

Gesh! Couldn't you at least wait till I'm done with the JRPG I'm already playing! Never mind I've been picking away at it for two months! :p

All I ever see you playing is Borderlands 2. Heck that's all I play lately too. Time for a break.

No! 6 months! Gesh, what do you think I do? Play something other than Borderlands 2?

Hush you! I still have guns to find and faces to shoot off!

Umm... what was this thread about again?

Oops. Kept playing The Last Story way late last night.

Think I made it to Ch 8.

Very fun. Getting more and more pieces of combat unlocked. I thought Slash was fun and then I got Gale. Looking forward to the command stuff where I can choose what my mages do and really combine stuff.

Meanwhile my two-day shipping is currently on it's fourth day. At least FedEx shows it as still in transit instead of erroneously being delivered.

Posts like this are killing me. I should go find something to sell in exchange for this game.

I know!

Well it wouldn't be an RPG if I didn't

Spoiler:

get thrown in jail

right?

Got a lot of time in this afternoon.

I've been playing Ys Origin on PC recently. It's okay; not bad, but nothing spectacular, either. It's essentially one long hack-and-slash dungeon crawl punctuated by big, pattern recognition boss battles. I've been told this is a bit of a departure from the other Ys games, which normally have towns and NPCs and all that jazz. There are some items to equip that help you explore the dungeon further, but otherwise there doesn't seem to be any kind of loot; Torchlight-style fountains of stuff aren't to be found here.

Instead enemies cough up little jewels that... do stuff? I can't quite tell, honestly. Sometimes my character is surrounded by fields of light, and there are little timers in the corner that count down my power-ups, but nothing has any dramatic enough effect that I look forward to it at all or even know what's happening.

In addition to the combat, there's some platforming that's often frustrating and never satisfying. I've had a good deal of difficulty lining up jumps just right, and the timing for the character's extended jump is remarkably finicky.

I'm playing with a keyboard only. I tried mouse and keyboard but found that to be awkward; keyboard only is less awkward, but if you have a gamepad then you should use it. If you do play with a keyboard only, mess with the keybinds a bit until you find something fairly comfortable. The default ZXCV setup is cramp-inducing, at least for me.

I've put a bit over an hour into it by the play clock, plus a bit of time for having to attempt the first boss a half-dozen or so times. I'll play a bit more to see if it picks up as it goes along, but I can't see myself putting too much time into this one. I probably would if I had a gamepad or if it were on a platform I enjoyed more, like the PSP or DS.

It is to power up your character.

Since all of you bums failed to help me out, I took some time and did some more digging, and this is still looking as bleak as I last recall. There's been no indication from Square-Enix or Nintendo that they're going to bring this over to the North American market, which makes me very disappointed.

I don't think the outlook's bleak at all. I think once the Japanese Wii U version is out in the first half of next year we'll hear about a localization. I'm expecting it to release here about a year from now.
