JRPG Catch-All

I'd be tempted to grab it if I weren't neck deep in Pokemon White 2 right now. Maybe if it goes around again in a couple of months.

I also have too much to play for it right now, but it has been on my want list for a long time.

How about 'playing it foward' then? After playing send it to another?

I'll jump on a 'play it forward', if someone wants to put it my way. Been on 'the list' for a while By the time it comes around, I'm sure piles will have diminished!

I'd jump on this but a kind GWJer sold me their copy a while back. I'm about 20 hours in :). Hope it goes to a good home.

As it stands there's a lot of "I'd take it later" going on.

The "playing it forward" sounds like what I actually hoped for this game. I feel like we should each sign part of it with a sharpie or something if it manages to go around that much.

If no one wants it now, I'll bite the bullet. If I feel like I won't be able to put in enough time I'll just pass it on.

EDIT**** Posted in wrong thread

Nothing to see here. Move along.

No discussion yet about Disgaea Dimension 2? It's a direct sequel to Disgaea: Hour of Darkness for the PS3. Seems like it'd be right up the alley of you folks. :)

I haven't finished Disgaea yet. It caught my attention and my first thought was that maybe I'd spend some time trying to "beat" Disgaea 1.

This was my same thought. I have all of the Disgaea games but haven't finished any. *sigh*

The disgaea games can be fairly quick if you break them. Usually their is mechanic you can exploit that levels your character to a crazy degree. I think I beat the game with a level 300 laharl or something. The boss was 70ish i think...

Sadly enough that is still not strong enough to clear all the side content.

Oh and Phantom Brave is the best of the bunch, I just love that one to bits. Gig and the world eaters is great too though.

Or the cover art? Sign it

Sharpie keeps finding new ways to make fine-point tips, to where they even make "pen" sized items now. Maybe if the signatures were very small and orderly, like in old-fashioned check-out cards in library books.

I would have volunteered to even pay the shipping or something, but I have a gigantic pile of other Atlus games right now.

The Last Story is eight dollars US on amazon right now, If you have any interest its not gonna get any better than this. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007CSF3GO/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?tag=cheapassgam08-20

Deal seems dead already. Shame, not enough people here played the 2012 Game of the Year.

That would have been a crazy deal.

Yeah I had a strange feeling it wouldn't last, but I figured it was mentioning anyways.

I'm beginning to believe that the 3DS localization of Unchained Blades is vaporware, and that makes me a sad panda.

You and me both! It's one I've been really waiting for. Knowing that we have Etrian Odyssey 4 coming lessens the sting, though.

Two random questions. I purchased a DS Lite the other day, encouraged by Ozymandius, in order to play Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon. I had forgotten how portable this thing was, having played a PSP and Vita predominantly as my portable the last two years. It's shockingly light and portable compared to what we're dealing with now. Since I'm not in love with the 3DS and have this DS Lite I'm doubling back on the DS library and have a couple of questions.

#1 - How long is DQ IX, roughly? I picked this up the other day for like $5 and decided to play it again. I'm curious what I'm in for, though.

#2 - Did anyone here play Pokemon Black / White? I've heard they have more interesting stories but I'm not sure how true that is. If it's just an interesting story "for a Pokemon game" then I won't touch that game.

I'm sitting at 30 hours right now and am roughly half-way through the storyline, but I've spent a fair amount of time leveling and side-questing. HowLongToBeat has the main quest listed at 45 hours, which sounds about right. There's a pretty shocking amount of content, though, if you really want to dig into it, so I'm not surprised that some of the people around here have topped 100 hours of playtime.

I finished the main story at around the 80 hour mark, but I'm incredibly deliberate in how I play DQ games; I explore, alchemize, swap jobs to level them up, etc. I'm very thorough.

It's the latter. I love Pokemon games, and am now enjoying Black 2, but unless you enjoy the core gameplay as the main reason for playing the games, they aren't worth playing. The story is ancillary to the game.

Sweet. Thanks. Thanks to everyone for answering this one. I'll probably play with it a bit.

I figured that was the case and I am a bit burnt out on the gameplay. I wasn't sure if a changed story hand lead to any new game mechanics.

I finished the main story in DQ IX and did maybe 20% of the side quests and finished in about 75 hours. I was probably overleveled for the last boss but apparently can get my butt kicked in post-game content if I don't level up more.

I've been waiting for this as well, and it really sucks that it's nowhere to be seen. There hasn't been an update in months!

Well, for whatever it's worth, the game is pretty fun. It's been languishing on my PSP, but I need to get back to it.

I got in on the Last Story deal late Sat night. Somehow, despite 2-day shipping it didn't arrive today, but is supposed to be here tomorrow, by tracking. That's twice in the last month that Amazon 2-day has been 3-day, and it seems to be on their end both times, not leaving the warehouse until 24-36 hours after I order.

Anyway, looking forward to it, and what an unbelievable Daylight Savings Sale.

Hadn't poked my head in this thread in a while but I saw the Disgaea D2 thread. Very happy. While I've enjoyed the mechanics of D3 and D4, the characters and story from D1 have always been my favorite.

What is Unchained Blades? I saw it on the PSN Store and was intrigued.

Its a wizardy style game. Etrian Odyssey like game.

Persona games are half off this week on PSN.
