NFL 2012 Week 9 Thread

So he's already at 15th on the all time rushing record for a single game with most of a quarter still to go.

Wish I could watch that game.

*Are they going to give Oakland this game back?

They're trying. Oakland just made an easy 4th and 2.

EDIT: And a TD the first play after that.

EDIT2: And 2 points. 3-point game.

Boy, my 'Skins suck.

That's 4 games I've been to in my life at Fed Ex Field, and 4 that they have lost in a pathetic fashion.

And now delay of game on Tampa when they got the first down. Holy crap, they are trying to give this away.

EDIT: And a 2nd delay of game after that. Jeez.

Woot! 2 mins left...

O football

Watching both games and the TB pick + steelers first down is huge for my picks.

helps erase earlier when I was watching Cincy/Miami both give up big plays at the same time.

I blame Certis for all of us going 3-2 this week.

Vaguely convinced Schiano was trying to kill me by putting Blount in there.

Up to 260 yards. 8th for single game rushing yards. And they get the ball back again thanks to another Palmer interception.

why are end of game plays like that usually so shockingly bad?

am I the only one that thinks the hook and ladder is actually viable?

Hell they lined up in a giant U wouldn't a screen play where you actually wait for blockers even work?

Need to watch more Rugby plays IMO.

wtf...how is that pass interference?? god damn Mannings..

edit..

it gets worse.. a Blow to the head penalty on 3rd and Goal.. and the replay is almost laughable.. wtf.. stinkin Mannings.

edit 2

lol this is awful.. are the refs just going to give this game to the Giants?? Because of Sandy?? How is that a fumble?? Thankfully one hopes that review will have to bring it back.

edit 3

omg.. wtf..uh.. this is starting to stink

For realz. Turned out how I wanted, but between legitimate Steelers mistakes and a few bad calls—and horrible over-the-air reception—I was insufferably moody.

So do I.

Sorry I missed the DC-Panthers pick. Would have been one more win for me. Oh well.

But, hey, I'll take a Carolina win. They've been nearly as scarce as Steve Smith TD catches this season.

And guess whose defense has turned out to be not-so-awful-after-all? Yep. That's right. Carolina's.

Tell me about it. Had him in both of my fantasy leagues, and it's been a long season.

If I don't go 3-2 the world ends. So you're welcome.

Milkman - Looks like Martin's nickname is Muscle Hamster although he is looking for a new one hehe

Highlights of the Dougie. This is with Tampa's two best offensive linemen out for the year. And yes, the Raiders tackle like crap.

Yeah, looks like the Mannings get all the breaks, that's why they always go (16-0) and play each other every year in the Manning bowl. I don't hear you yelling and complaining when the bad calls go against the Giants, and there were a slew of them in Week 1 vs the Cowboys. Bad calls happen, its part of the game, and it happens for every team, not just the ones the Mannings play on.

And Ben lost control of the ball on that play, definitely a fumble. I'm also man enough to admit there was a blatently obvious clipping penalty on the return by JPP.

Twitter is blowing up because Sean Payton's contract extension has been voided, which means he'll be a free agent at the end of the year. People are going crazy over the "Payton to Dallas" talk.

Victor Cruz takes a "blow to the head":

No, it wasn't a blow to the head, but did the official who made the call didn't have that angle. In real time I thought it was a blow to the head, until they slowed it down and showed it from that angle.

Hey, I'm not going to argue the Giants didn't get some calls yesterday, they obviously did. I'm arguing horrible logic that "the Mannings" get all the calls. It's easy to say that when you selectively pick out every bad call that goes towards one team or another.

You forgot an important word there, I think.

*EDIT*
I will say though that the hit was completely unessasary. It was on the border of legit hit and late hit, but to call it a blow to the head was bad.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if he did or not, I can't remember where the flag came from. If you were looking at it from the other side of the field, it looks like a helmet to helmet hit, because of the way Cruz's head whips back.

I scared the hell out of some co-workers today who are Dallas fans. They were celebrating that they are going to get Payton, and I told them that they'll probably get Andy Reid instead.

They started crying, it was wonderful

Cruz sure tried to help the refs make the decision to throw the flags by laying on the turf. Is it time for the NFL to add diving to its list of infractions?

Yes. No more diving.

When I saw it happen I saw a flag come from a ref on the opposite side of the above picture.

Here ya go: http://www.nfl.com/videos/new-york-g...

Diving? That wasn't a love tap.

And Ben lost control of the ball on that play, definitely a fumble. I'm also man enough to admit there was a blatently obvious clipping penalty on the return by JPP.

Why wasn't it a tuck rule? Arm's coming forward... I mean.. how can you explain it away? lol I love you Giants fans.

I'm watching it right now on Game Rewind.. lol again.. only a Giants fan can actually convince themselves that it was a fumble.. the replay even has a perfect view of his hand and the ball.

http://nfl.si.com/2012/11/04/ben-roe...

Brings up an excellent point.. if the above is a fumble.. how was Brady's in the playoff again against the Raiders not?. Note IMO the above is exactly a tuck rule.. but Brady's was not.. it was clear to me that Brady had finished the motion completely before getting the ball knocked out of his hand.

Yeah that Steeler's 'fumble' was a crap call. Arm coming forward has always been an incomplete pass. I couldn't believe that in real-time, that is a replacement ref call.
