Firefall Catch-All

Wow, I had no idea about that stuff. Seems very cool though. It's great how enjoyable this game currently is with almost no real PVE content. I can't imagine how much fun this is going to be when guilds and PVE get implemented.

Edit: 44k Crystite!? Dimmer is ROLLING SON!

It's possible that screenshot is a little out of date.

Part of why I'm looking forward to trading being implemented is I'd like to bootstrap some of our newer folks. There are only so many purple ferrite codpieces a man can wear...

Dimmer ol' buddy. We can be friends!

Fixed.

More seriously, once trading's in I'm happy to help bootstrap folks. Also happy to group up and thump whatever people want to gather, for that matter.

Just got a tier 2 engineer frame. Any advice on which branch I should follow? Or good tier 2 weapons?

Woah, joined an advanced thumper group this morning. I didn't realize that it scaled enemy wise. That was awesome!

I am a simply terrible engineer, and don't have any advice personally (maybe other folks will chime in with thoughts). I see a lot of T2 engineers using boomerang shot, though.

I was playing with some hardcore guys yesterday. We were advanced thumping on two sites. Basically had 3 engineers (incl me) leave all sentries at one thumper with 1-2 guards. And then two (dreadnaughts I think) and one engineer at the other. Seemed to work well.

So, it turns out that Chosen drop pods landing just out of sight while you're thumping are a great way to lose your last Improved Thumper. Went from 50% to zero before we realized what had happened.

Time to craft some new ones.

Been there, done that a couple of times now. A couple of other times I barely managed to get the thumper off in time. I've seen them lob shots at thumpers from well over 100m away. If I see a drop pod land within 150m of my thumper now, I'll send it up right away. They can take out a stock thumper before you can get to them.

Hmm, interesting...

Rough couple of days for the GWJ thumper stockpile, but learned an interesting feature this morning while grouped with Psych: you can't drop a thumper within SIN range of a Chosen-controlled tower - get a message about not being able to call a thumper in enemy territory. Had to go re-take te tower before we could drop. Cool and natural-feeling way to draw players into the war effort.

Unrelatedly, it turns iut now I'm getting teased by pubbies about that round of Harvester with Wil Wheaton and Felicia Day.

Will you remember us now that you're famous?

You should come play again, Strangeblades - game's only getting better, and we've got several goodjers who can keep the baddies off you while you pop their heads.

I have a couple of improved, and I'm putting together an advanced (maybe enough for 2). I'm also a lot better at situational awareness and killing things when I'm not playing from my laptop in a hotel. My T2 dread is decked out too. I was playing engi so I could let the turrets pick up my slack.

Good runs tonight. My highlight was three-manning an advanced thumper to 100% with BlackLotus and his friend Hagbard.

HEROES.

Close runner-up: discovering that our squad of four Goodjers wasn't quite enough to pull off running an advanced and improved thumper at the same time (though with enough time on the clock to manage a save on both).

So like, how does one go about getting an invite into this beta (other than forking over $$, or waiting for the mercy of the mailing daemon)?

Check the google doc (see OP), and pm someone who has a number of invites listed. More people than those listed actually have invites to give away as well. I can send you my last current invite. That person will need your email address so they can send the invite, so I advise not trying dimmer. He's a shady fellow.

Dilemma. Just unlocked mt t2 recon and have the crystite but do not have a garage slot. Do I discard my T1 engineer? My t2 engineer? Do I buy another slot? If I spend $10, should I get a founder's thingy? Ugh.

I have three invites if anyone wants them.

Being a Founder, it was one of the first things I did, that is to say, buy additional slots. Otherwise, yeah, you will have to trash a currently existing frame's slot to gain something new and its experience does NOT return if you buy another one (made that mistake pre-founder's pack :().
Currently have t1, t2 Recon and t1, t2 Biotech, but have been thinking about exploring the other t2 Recon (not the Raptor) frame (that I earned as a upshot to my above snafu) and will still have 3 frame slots to spare (for t3!).
EDIT: @Edwin, I don't see you in the spreadsheet yet, don't be shy ;).

Strongly recommend buying a Founders' Pack if you're going to be spending *any* money on Red Beans. The lowest-tier is $20, gives you $20 in Red Beans, a Tiki mask, and a permanent 5% XP boost. The other packages have more amenities, but also give you more money in Red Beans than the package costs to purchase.

Eldon, I'm pretty sure my experience has been that discarding a frame doesn't re-set XP for that frame (though it does mean you have to re-buy the frame if you go back, which is still a strong disincentive). I'm happy to do that with one of my T1 frames (you know, for science) - someone remind me next time we're on?

Yeah. I'll probably get something but...why $100 for the bike?

bigred wrote:

Definitely don't buy the Commanders' Pack just for the bike. It's handy and all, but everyone will have them fairly soon, I expect (at the end of the TransHub quest line, Oilspill and Aero mention that we've gotten the nanoprint for the bike). No idea what the resource requirement will be to make one, but it should be pretty attainable.

I'm pretty sure I dropped my T1 dread frame and re-bought it at some point after the founders pack and kept the experience, which I did just to test that theory out.

Caved and got the $50 one. To the recon t2 mobile!
