I'm getting a crash every time on the PC loading screen. Gah.

Time to look around the web for answers.

Think I figured out where the problem lies. I have a full Origin friends list. If I disconnect from my network or go into Offline mode in Origin, the game loads. So it's when it tries to sync to Origin or Autolog that it dies.

That's worth a support ticket, I think. Also, clear space on your friends list! My AutoLog is so....empty!

I just added everyone I saw with an origin account in this thread. I hope to have some time to fire it up tonight.

My Origin account is the same as my others, trueheart78. Feel free to add the heck out of me

Weird, I think origin is having issues: IMAGE(http://i.imgur.com/tdhYa.jpg)

Whoops, privacy settings...

Should be better now.

I have one, I've seen a couple of other people with similar issues on the Origin bug forum, so maybe it will be fixed soon.

Most of my Origin friends are from BF3, and I still play that. Don't want to dump those. Plus, I don't know what a "safe" number is.

Nope, I can't find "trueheart78" either. I see TRUEHEART44 and trueheart89, but both are set to private and neither own NFS.

I'm playing Most Wanted on PS3 - I'm BeriAlpha.

I'm really liking it so far. Hot Pursuit was a great game, but I'm glad to see the series return to an open-world city. Fairhaven is, itself, a character in the game. I don't really care whether it says NFS or Burnout on the box.

That being said, this does feel a bit more reined in than Paradise...which really makes me ask, why? I know that dark, realistic, and gritty are the words of the day, but I miss my nearly-invincible cars bouncing off traffic, I miss split ramps and barrel rolls...heck, I even miss DJ Automica. He may have been repetitive at times, but he was the voice of Paradise City for me. I'm even a little negative on the use of real cars, and on putting drivers in those cars. I actually liked the generic automata that raced around the streets of Paradise City - it aided the illusion that this was an entire world that was built and placed just to be my personal playground.

Anyway, friend me up.

My home machine is stuck at the loading screen. Sigh. It works fine on my work machine, grrr. I tried offline mode, W7 compatibility on both origin.exe and nfs13.exe, putting origin in the firewall exceptions (nfs was already there), turning off the firewall entirely, turning off the network entirely, unplugged the xbox controller and making sure all my drivers are up to do.

Both machines are W8 64 enterprise.

Weird. From the bar in Origin, I clicked "Origin" and "Go Offline" and was able to get it to load. Maybe it's a Win 8 thing as well as a friends list thing.

Same OS and same friends list on both machines though.

The differences home versus work are:
single i7 2.9ghz versus dual xeon 8core 2.0ghz
24gb ram versus 64gb
x58 chipset versus whatever the new e5 xeons use
dual gtx 670's versus single gtx 560ti
single 27" 1920x1080 monitor versus dual 24" 1920x1200 monitors
no AV versus a lot of security software I'm not even aware of
windows firewall versus god knows how locked down work is
xbox controller versus kb/m

I'd like to +1 this but since I haven't yet played NFSMW, it'd be unfair to have an opinion about it. Buuuut, if I were to voice an opinion on it based at least on what I've seen, this would probably be it. That mostly stems from despair for the future of the Burnout series which, free from direct ties to the real world like licensed cars, lives in a more playful, less restrictive realm.

Anybody here "bullioncube"? Got a friend request and the profile's private.

Yep, he's a community member. Tagged and all.

There's a lot of fun that could be had here and every time I get close to having that fun, the game steps in and takes it away. My car is made of steel when hitting other players and then a bare glance with a background car or a pepsi can in the street and I total out. I have a good run in a race then the police show up and turn it into bumper cars or throw down a spike strip and end the race for me in one quick second.

I hope that some upgrades help with a lot of this later, but I'm so annoyed with it out of the gate that I don't know if I want to spend the time to do the unlocks. Assuming they help.

I might get my Burnout disc out and just play that some.

I've yet to remove this from the cellophane, and it sounds like waiting to finish AC3 may not be a bad idea.

We shall see though.

I fixed my forever loading issue. Apparently, sometimes, the game wants the origin client installed after itself, or at least that's my guess since reinstalling just the client worked and yet I had just installed it to download this game. /eyeroll

I tried uninstalling the client and reinstalling and it didn't fix the game. Oh well.

I have this on the ps3 and vita, was so engrossed in a race on the train I very nearly missed my stop

Was there basically no press surrounding this game? I completely missed hearing about it until the other day. So far I feel like this is what Burnout: Paradise should have been. Open world but with a cleaner city layout, so I don't find myself making wrong turns in races or feeling like I need to reference a city map just to figure out a good route. The driving model is definitely from Burnout as well--it's far more forgiving than the one in Hot Pursuit, though needing to brake to drift is taking some getting used to.

Autolog seems to know who I am but I don't think it's retained my friends list from Hot Pursuit. Is that different for each game? If someone wants to friend me, I'm "complexmath" in autolog / origin / whatever as well. Not too far along yet--I've gotten one or two of the most wanted cars and picked up a raft of other cars, but not a whole lot of upgrades yet. I'm mostly having fun just driving around and pissing off the police.

Nice to hear some positive comments about this.

Polygon's line, "Negotiating Easy Drive is like texting while driving", did make me chuckle, though.

EasyDrive is impossible to negotiate while driving, since it uses the D-pad. You really have to either stop or hit a straightaway and let go of the gas to have any hope of using it.

I find it extremely hard to give these guys a pass on making Nitrous an option the Tesla =_=;

Seriously? Though I'll admit, about the only car I'm driving so far is the Ariel Atom 500.

I love the Atom but it is just too damn slow, Lamborghini for me

Should be tearing this out of the cellophane sometime this week - almost done with AC3's storyline.

Are the Ambush races ridiculous or is it just me? It's not too hard to escape and enter cooldown, but there are so many police cars coming from every direction that I can't stay in cooldown long enough to actually finish the race. I kind of wish they had to get LOS on you instead of just getting within X distance to spot you. I did find that I wasn't driving predictably enough for the AI though. Last race after I'd outrun everyone a police car spawned on top of me. That made for an interesting crash.

The only other issue I've had so far is that for one or two crazy jumps I collided with an invisible boundary in the air, despite there being stuff I should have been able to jump to if the arc had continued. I suppose I was above one of the impassable road barriers, but it was still unexpected.

I suppose I'll have to try the Lamborghini if it really is that much faster. I was misled by the description of the Atom that it was the fastest production car in the world. Still, it accelerates so damn quickly and handles so well...

I'm on the PC version, Origin name is CertisGWJ. Come shame me!

Never has so short a phrase made me reconsider a game purchase to such a great degree.

Install complete! How does one join in on the festivities?

Add me, duders. I'm "VrikkGWJ" on Origin, and am installing the game now.
