Borderlands 2 Catch-All

There's not a lot of in-game fiddle - a minute or so every now and then to swap guns or allocate skill points is about it. Oh, and the occasional minute or two to sell all the crap you picked up and don't need (plus buy bullets).

Spooky Shift Codes:

Edit: Next round will be a Killer Bee outfit for Salvador. They'll hit at 12:00 central.

Sure hope these work when I finally get power back home.

I'd say there's more in-game fiddle early on. When every drop is potentially better than what you have and you only have two weapon slots. Once you have a decent set of guns (level 10-15) and have unlocked that third and fourth slot it definitely speeds up since you can usually tell pretty quickly if something needs to be swapped in.
If you want to avoid the 'idle' times then I'd say play solo until you find yourself only picking up items "worth at least $100."

They're good until Nov. 4th, so hopefully you will have power back by then! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

KILL THE IMPOSTER!
I saw the iOS game released today. $7. Dear Gearbox, why isn't this part of my Season Pass? available on Android?

FTFY.

Also, less talk of killing imposters please. It's making me uncomfortable, since I'm not sure which Rallick is considered the imposter. :-P

You're supposed to say, "You'll have to kill us both!," and then I shoot you because I know it's a trick.

They're supposed to work until November 4th so you have some wiggle room.

EDIT: RallickDoppelgangarhauser'd!

Muahahaha!

Thanks!

I uploaded a Steam screenshot of the Maya one already, if anyone wants to look.

I don't like the stripe over her eyes.

I have a question for you folks: In this game (as well as the first Borderlands) how do you deal with loot and leveling up and stuff when playing co-op? Are you continually stopping to change your loadouts and whatnot as you play? Seems like this would constantly bring the game to a halt. Or do you just play through for a session and then deal with all that stuff on your own afterwards?

I've been thinking of giving this series a go co-op with a friend, but didn't want something where you have to be stopping to fiddle with stuff mid-game. Maybe this wouldn't be the game for us if that's an issue, but I did play through the beginning of the first Borderlands by myself and dug it.

The game coop (even, at this point, on true vault hunter mode) is easy enough that unless you're in the middle of a boss fight or timed mission, it's not going to be disastrous if someone drops out to take care of inventory stuff so long as there's a vendor nearby and they don't have to run half way across the map to deal with it. There's often a vendor nearby and in the case where there isn't we'll just wait until the current mission is done since there is pretty much always a vendor near a mission turn-in point. This is just for selling accumulated junk. As for changing loadouts & spending skillpoints, we'll do that whenever as it only takes a couple of seconds.

Shift Codes for Axton's Halloween skin:

I hit a gaming lull last night and decided to pick up Borderlands 2, having completely skipped the first game. The first thing that struck me is that the game really feels like an MMO--I was really expecting it to feel more Diablo-like. That aside, I'm wondering how long I have to play before the classes start to feel different from one another. I put a few hours in with the Gunzerker and still don't have any class-specific skills. I restarted with some of the other classes to see what the early game differences are, but haven't gotten far enough to really say yet.

You gain your action skill at level 5. There are single-point mid-tier skills that change how your skill works and depending on how you spec, you can get your first at level 16. If you put all of your points into a single tree, you can get the top-tier skill in that tree at level 31. Don't be afraid to play around with different point configurations. You can respec at any customization machine for a small fee. It'll increase as you get to higher levels but there's no penalty for respeccing.

The Gunzerker takes longer than most characters to feel unique since at first, his skill is something everyone can do. He can just do more of it at the same time. If you're looking for a class whose skill instantly opens up new strategies, try the Commando or Siren.

But yeah, until level 5 the classes are all going to feel the same because they functionally are.

Yeah that's why it's best to start a brand new character in coop and push through to level 5-6 as quick as you can.

It's very boring playing solo with no powers.

That's what I've found. I'll see about jumping into a game next time.

And, finally, Zer0:

Xbox 360 SHiFT Code: 5J53B-J96HW-F9FBX-CFTT3-FTFXS
PlayStation 3 SHiFT Code: KBKB3-J3R5J-BKCKT-H3W33-9F56C

Edit: Actually, it probably isn't the final one. I assume they have one for Gaige too.

Kind of a weird theme going. How'd that meeting go?

Randy Pitchfork: OK guys, I want to put out some special Halloween skins. Let's pitch some ideas. Think spooky. Let's start with Maya.
Gearbox Dev: How about a witch?
RP: Too conventional. I'm thinking... bees.
GD: ...Bees?
RP: Bees are scary.
GD: But they aren't really spooky-
RP: IT'S GONNA BE BEES OK? Next, Salvadore.
GD: He looks kind of like an orc.
RP: That's not bad. But what do you think of bees?
GD: We... just decided Maya was going to have a bee costume.
RP: Salvadore's shaped more like a bee. Maya looks like a wasp.
GD: So, want to make Salvadore a bee and we'll come up with something else for Maya?
RP: Salvadore's a bee, keep Maya as a bee.
GD: All... right.
RP: Oooh, just got goosebumps. Getting spooky in here. Axton next.
GD: How abou-
RP: Bees.
GD: And Zer0 is bees too, right?
RP: Yep.
GD: Sir, did you watch Wicker Man again?
RP: Also Gaige. Make her bees.
GD: If you say so.
RP: So friggin spooky.

Bzzz.

That post stung.

Yay, complete costumes!

Well that was annoying. While I think Shift is interesting as a way to get extra gold keys entice people to follow their social networkings, I really think this was a bad way to roll out what is essentially some free skin pack.

In order to unlock them all, I had to:
1) Copy+paste 5 codes into Shift (yay for Steam, this would be really annoying to do on a console)
2) Go into the game with a character, and use an item from my inventory. Then quit out.
3) Repeat step 3 about 4 times because it only handed me the skins two at a time.

Why not just shove these out with an 4 kb title update that unlocked the content that was already in my game? Yeah yeah, free stuff, but really Gearbox, making your customers jump through needless hoops for it?

Yea just imagine how much fun it is on the 360. They even made the code entry field 5 separate fields and they didn't bother mapping any keyboard keys (which I have seen other games do so that you can hit enter and use arrow keys to move around the interface). So while you can use a keyboard to enter the characters/digits you have to switch between it and a controller every five characters.

Has anyone tried the iOS game that came out today? Not sure if it has it's own thread, but it looks interesting. I'll give it a try on my Ipad when I get home.

Reviews are saying it sucks balls. I don't even think that's paraphrasing.
