Official Team Fortress 2 Game Nights (PC)

Is that BigHead mode like in UT2004?

Was busy all day doing an install for work, I'd be up for MvM tonight if there's groups forming.

The big head just makes the model bigger but not the hit box.

Found an eerie crate. Are they any good?

Somebody walk this idiot through text mode idling.

Also, screen shots.

I don't know where the blood came from.

Chest cavity and...something?

Hmm, screenshots are borked. You'll just have to wait.

Create a desktop shortcut to steam, then add this text into the "Target" field under "Properties":

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 440 -textmode -nosound -window -nopreload -novid -dxlevel 81 +map "itemtest"

I didn't know there was even such a thing!

You would think that HUDs would also be available through the workshop.
But nothing.

Has anyone beaten wave 666?

Not yet. Best I've done (with pubbies, natch) has been about 25% completion. Would love to form a group to try getting further, sometime soon.

With a crack team of goodjers we gave up around 60% I for one blame hatts.

I'm not even going to attempt that MvM mission again until Mann Up is available. That's too much work to not get anything at the end.

What team comp seems to be working best? I'm thinking: heavy, pyro, soldier, engi, ?, ? where the last two are picked from engi, demo, heavy, soldier, or medic. Haven't seen snipers, scouts, or spies perform well.

I've been running buff banner soldier lately and having decent success, so I don't know whether it's worthwhile to bring along a medic for crits (unless the overheal is necessary). One point in blast resist and crit resist helps during the first rush of charged soldiers.

On a somewhat related note: when I use my wrangler (Coaltown is the only place I've really used it), the laser pointer seems to spaz out sometimes. Is this normal? Am I using it wrong? Are the bullets still shooting in the intended direction despite graphical weirdness?

Join the pub now before Hurricane Sandy kills my power!

I think heavy, 2 demos, engi, pyro, buff banner soldier. As long as the demos are using kk canteens, it makes medics useless. Also with all the money you get, you can max out damage and resists so a medic is just one less person doing damage.

I agree you don't need a medic, but I'm surprised a sniper with explosive headshots and fast reloading (and slowdown pee) wouldn't be worth a slot.

The day I last posted images of Nightwater I had uploaded a version of the level and sent it to someone to either test or put on the server, I left it up to them.

Recently I head someone mentioning it with a new name "badwater_event" which got me thinking of dressing it up a bit like harvest_event. No giant changes like lakeside but a few small things like explosive pumpkins and maybe a ghost or two. I don't know if I'll try that this year, since it would give me experience at making a Halloween map, but maybe over the next year I can give it a swing just in time for the next event.

Also throwing out my two cents but I think a medic is needed in Wave 666. While the canteens can do so much and almost make a medic useless it also gives the medic a chance to help other classes so they can focus their canteens elsewhere like extra ammo since it seems like Coal Town, normal and 666, both seem to eat up a ton of ammo for classes like the heavy and soldier.

Hey guys, I updated sourcemod on the private. Let me know if you have any problems with it.

(Both pub servers are, as far as I know, still working fine.)

Kind of done with Halloween TF2.

Yeah, me too. It's kind of tired, really -- dress up a KOTH map, just like last year, and trot out the same metagame as last year, too, with a few twists. (It's nice to see prophunt get a nod.) But they didn't really change anything to make it less problematic, there's still lots of griefing potential. Ah, well, maybe someday we'll get another map as good as Harvest.

I guess the MvM is kind of interesting. Though I only played it once, and don't feel motivated to do it again.

Meanwhile, all the servers running normal maps are kind of interesting. Either I'm getting my clock cleaned or I'm getting a 2:1 or better K:D (which is good for me). No middle ground, I guess everyone in the middle is Bowling for Presents.

This is the halloween map of my heart, and I can't wait to play it. Reskin of Badwater with no other changes > an improved reskin of Lakeside with additional game elements. By, like, a jillion.

I kind of liked the server where you, me and evilseed basically won goldrush by ourselves.

I think I got this year's stuff in an hour of play, aside from zombie skins for all classes. Probably just going to chill on the Halloween mix server for a bit each night. Publics are at their most annoying this time of year

Gee, I'm still trying to catch up from two or three years ago. I never ended up getting the Haunted Metal from two years ago and I barely got any of the costumes from last year... this year I'm just glad there was nothing big added so that I could fall behind another year. Oh well next year I'll be able to spend more time on the server to catch up since I'll be looking for a job again.

I still want to try to finish Wave 666. I think that's a fun challenge that I'm determined to work up to. Love the zombie MvM and the cool Halloween items... but not a lot of replay value on Merasmus.

Past Halloween content is also active now, no? As mentioned, this might be a chance to catch up on Monoculus or the Horseless Headless Horsemann.

I think I got one outfit piece last year, no bombinomicon. The year before I only picked up one mask and got the haunted metal either offline or being incredibly lucky.

Old content is now active too, and I think one of our pub servers is doing the official Halloween Mix map cycle which shuffles between the 4 event maps. They also changed the gift mechanic so that the gift boxes which spawn are private (ie. only your character can see it) which should increase the chance of finding outfit pieces (Eyeaduct) and masks (Manor) on the old maps.

I'm planning on hanging out in the mix server tonight if anyone wants to join.

Do you guys want the pub changed to the Halloween event mix?

:brofist:

That team was hilariously bad until you guys showed up. I had mostly been gimmick/offclassing, then you guys dropped in and we got to actually win. I wasn't paying close attention, but I think a few other people switched to combat classes when that happened, too. (Like ScoRes demo, but hey, baby steps.)

That would be great. As said before, this year's Halloween map got tired pretty quick. Playing different event maps would be neat.

The MvM server is setup on Wave 666. The server will be locked tonight with the usual password.
