I feel dumb. How do I see only the tweets of a twitter account and not its retweets?

twitter.com/[username] should show you their stream. Of course, if they spend all their time RT'ing others, then all you'll see in their stream is the RTs. I think you'd have to go out of your way in a search to see all the tweets they have put out that were RT'd by others.

So there's no way to only see an account's original posts within its own stream, right? Remarkably irritating.

What is it about Farming Simulator 2013 that makes it a best seller on steam?

Irony.

Or...

The most ridiculous thing is that I keep looking at it on Steam and I'm like "Sure...why the hell not?"

...I think I have a problem.

RT started out as copying and pasting someone else's tweet into a new tweet, and then typing "RT @" and their handle at the front.

Which version of Win 7 should I buy?

I'm going to assume that, since it's been out a few years, if you needed the features in Pro or Ult, you wouldn't need to ask that question =)

So as long as you don't need to join a domain, I'm sure Home will be fine for you.

I would say 64-bit Pro if this is for a Core 2 Duo or newer.

When they get an error message, or other system message, why don't most people ever read it before rushing to click through it?

I blame earlier versions of Windows that popped up more messages letting you know stuff was working as it should be than it did letting you know when stuff wasn't working. I think Microsoft did this after Windows 98 so that users would see fewer messages

Yeah - the issue that you seem to be hitting is that Twitter treats RTs as "original tweets" from the person you want to follow, at least as far as the Twitter Timeline is concerned.

Another option might be hidden in the advanced search operators. Head over to search.twitter.com, and use the from:[username] operator - that should get you the "latest" tweets direct from that person, minus their RTs. The only downside is that the search dataset is truncated - I was only able to pull back tweets from myself for the last week or so.

Actually a RT without comment is now considered a tweet from the original person. It shows up in my feed with their icon, not the RTer.

According to my friend, you can actually make the configuration change you want from the Twitter website (not through an app). I've been meaning to do this myself and haven't checked up on it. Let me do it right now.

...

Yup, go to their full profile page and click the person icon next to the large FOLLOWING button. Choose turn off retweets.

Curious if this turns off RT with comments though, since those are basically just regular tweets.

Looks like the search function is the closest to what I want (which would be to be able to go to the account page and simply filter out retweets on that page, not within my own feed). Thanks guys!

Boring Sims are huge on the PC. Look at the football manager series. You never play a game, you just make trades and sign contracts.

Irony.

Considering that there are quite a few farming simulator frag videos, I would say that is a huge part of it.

Doesn't do what you've bolded--only eliminates those retweets from appearing in my own Twitter feed, but the account holder's page will show all tweets regardless of that setting. Plus it's only available if you're following the person, which I'm not necessarily doing.

Does anyone know anything about foreign currency exchange? We're emigrating from the UK to Sweden soon and will have the proceeds from the sale of our flat under us. Obviously this isn't a case of just checking out all our cash and stuffing it in an envelope and so the vagueries of the volatile GBP --> SEK exchange rate, as well as fees and commission, threaten to amount to a serious financial loss if we don't know what we're doing. And we don't know what we're doing.

Does anyone know about this stuff who can point me in the right direction?

Do you have a banker or financial adviser you may turn to? IE the person who helped set up any sort of retirement accounts, etc?

No. We're financial numpties. I haven't even consolidated all my old Australian superannuation accounts.

I would have to say if this is money you have in any serious amount-thousands, tens of thousands, and on up; you will want to find a professional. Going with some random exchanger could mean you get boned out of hundreds or more depending on how much money we are talking.

I wonder, is there a UK/London equivalent to Yelp or Angie's List?

Interestingly enough, I just came across this blog post yesterday from a service that claims to process exchanges at the exact current mid-market rate, and is upfront with the fees applied to your transaction.

Maybe it could help? http://transferwise.com/blog/2012-10/one-real-exchange-rate

This.

When I moved to the US from the UK, it was reasonably simple - I stuffed $4000 in $100 bills into my backpack and got on the plane.

I would also suggest that you get a professional, because there's potential tax implications - you may be due tax liability on importing the money into Sweden.

1. Open Swiss bank account
2. Deposit wealth in said account
3. ?
4. Profit!

Seriously though, find a pro.

Good luck! I hope your move goes well!

A few years back my mom gave me this deodorizing lamp... thingy. It's a glass lamp with a wick and you fill it up with some kind of alcohol or oil or something, then light the wick. Once it's going you blow it out and put a protective cap on and it sits there and somehow removes odors from the air. Well I just found the set while doing some cleaning and would like to order some more of whatever the fluid was that it used, but for the life of me I can't seem to figure out what it was.

Any ideas?

At risk of starting some sort of holy wars... should I get Civ IV or Civ V?
Bearing in mind the last Civ-type game I played was Colonization (1994 original version :old:).

If you find a good place could you share with us. I'm thinking of transferring some cash from the US to Denmark (only in the 10-15k USD) so not quit as much as I think you're looking at.

They're very different and both very good, especially with their respective expansions (Beyond the Sword / Gods & Kings). Whichever version you end up buying, get that as well.

In my opinion Civ V has the edge over IV because of the more strategic warfare as opposed to Civ IV's stacks of doom. Civ IV is much cheaper though Or maybe someone still has a Civ V gift copy from the XCOM Steam pre-order they could share?

I'm inclined to say Civ IV, if only because of Fall From Heaven II, A mod that actually makes good on the promises of games like Master Of Magic and Age Of Wonders.

But I also have a spare copy of Civ V From my XCOM pre-order if you want it, just send me a friend invite. (Thanks to dejanzie for reminding me a have it :))

EDIT: It might help if I link to my steam profile http://steamcommunity.com/id/DRM75.
