I Am Iron Man (3)

Pages

first trailer released:

April 2013.

Yep, that's Sir Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1300854/

I'm interested. I still haven't seen the first one, but I liked the second well enough, and Iron Man was far and away the most interesting character in The Avengers. I'm curious how they'll tie this movie in with that one (The Avengers) and whether they'll address why he doesn't just call in his superhero buddies for help.

Feels a lot like Dark Knight Rises.

This is why you never reveal your identity to the public when you're a superhero

I remember reading something a while back that after the Avengers, it was going to be tough to write a stand-alone movie where the rest of the team doesn't just come to the rescue. For this movie, they said...

Spoiler:

...they were going to send Tony (metaphorically) back to the cave where he had to rely only on himself.

Spoiler:

In the first movie he was stuck in a cave.

I want to design homes for Hollywood films. The house is awesome. I want to get the model.

My problem with Iron Man 2 was that "Iron Man" was hardly in it. He was in the suit for... what... less than 5 minutes of screen time? It was mostly a "personal journey" of Tony Stark. Which was fine, but I want to see more Iron Man kicking ass, and less depressed Tony Stark.

Looks awesome. Can't wait. Love these films. Didn't understand all the hate about the last one... except maybe that Sam Rockwell should have gotten more screen time.

Edit: Oh yeah, drunk Iron Man was a bit painful. But like emo Peter Parker in Spider Man 3, it didn't ruin the film for me.

What's with the giant stuffed bunny at 1:13?

*squeee*

Well my issue with Ironman 2, and Thor was how they all just completely felt like filler until we get to the Avengers.

Make no bones about it, I will see Ironman 3 opening week. But I am more interested in Superman this summer.

Looks really awesome! Can't wait!

Watch the first one. You're welcome. (I think it may be the best super-hero origin movie. Period.)

Splodies!

Yeah, seriously, the first Iron Man film was utterly fantastic; I enjoyed the 2nd one reasonably well, but the first one is far better.

I'll give it a look when it shows up on Netflix.

Liked the 2nd well enough, it entertained me. +1 for more Sam Rockwell. #3 looks to be entertaining as well.

That was a bunny?

Want a Hulk movie with Mark Ruffalo too.

Might be a while. The first one was up already but was replaced by 2.

Exactly my thoughts through the trailer. Looks like he's being targeted hard. Ouch.

Agreed, although I love Batman Begins too. I know people complain that the ending of Iron Man was too short, but I liked that they left me wanting more, as opposed to, say, Michael Bay who just makes me want to leave halfway through his movies.

I felt like the second wasn't quite the followup that I wanted, so I'll be curious to see if they get their mojo back for the third.

Loved it!! I was seriously disappointed in IM2, but this trailer looks refreshing. Opening weekend for me. Sir Ben Kingsley as Mandarin is just pure genius, honestly. Also, Guy Pearce is amazing. I hope they don´t downplay him like they Sam Rockwell in IM2.

So is the suit becoming sentient?

At least one of those segments was a dream.*

Spoiler:

Pretty sure it was when the suit grabbed her when they were in bed....

Because Tony Stark is a monomaniacal prick who would think he could "handle it" until way, way too late in the game?

Did Tony Stark have an issue with that prior to being known as Iron Man?

Iron Man is still my favorite superhero movie, just fantastic all around. I'm hoping for more of that goodness in the third installment, especially after how impressive The Avengers was.

Yeah, but being filthy rich and smart is completely orthogonal to being a hero...

Sure, but they'll still need an explanation for why he doesn't just pick up Captain America and the Hulk in time for the finale.

I assume because Thor will be dealing with stuff on Asgard, Cap will have his own Winter Soldier stuff to deal with, IMDB says Black Widow is in Captain America 2: Winter Soldier so she's busy and who knows if Banner stayed in Stark Towers or even wants to put himself in another dangerous situation. So, that's the Avengers off doing their own things. I just assume all these movies will, this time, happen at the same time so they can't run off and help one another.

Assuming the plot of Iron Man 3 doesn't drag out over months, I don't see why they need any major explanations for the other Avengers' absence. Banner presumably ran off to somewhere remote again, so by the time he heard about Tony's troubles it might be all over anyway. Cap just needs some throwaway line about being off on a mission or something, and Thor has a pretty convenient alibi since he's back in Asgard.

Also those shots of Stark in a snowy wasteland kind of hint that he might get stranded somewhere remote, so in that case the easy answer is that none of the other Avengers know where he is.

There's enough absurdity in these moveis that suspending my disbelief to include the locations of his friends is easy.

I may harp on continuity issues in unessecarily detailed reviews of the film, but it won't hinder my enjoyment in any way.
