Also, Brizahd, don't forget to send the files back to me. Thanks!

Doh!

See, this is why Bridgeburners tend to kill their officers.

Operation Enduring Line.
After Action Report

Cpl. Cartoonin Brandt
Sq. Vincent Vega
Sq. Brizahd Wizahd (commanding)
Rk. Wandering Taoist

Objective: extraction. (Thomas Hutch, a person of interest.)

During transit I prep the team on the fact that we're going in Prozacless, so there will be no long range support. This mission will be fast and up close. Also it would be nice if we could capture one of the little f*ckers alive. Cover your zones and watch your line of fire. Also show no fear or weakness, we can't let those aliens know they're freaking us out. Hooah?

We land and Brandt and Vega take lead fanning out providing over watch. Taoist and I push forward expecting to draw some fire. Nothing. I signal for Brand and Vega to move up while we cover them.

It is as Vega is bounding to our right that he encounters a more humanoid looking alien. Thinking I have a shot I rush forward and shoot. I hit but it doesn't seemed bothered. These things are tougher than they look. Taoist quickly follows up and deals the killing shot.

After that little bit of excitement Brandt rushes to meet with the Mr. Hutch's security team. He relays that they lost him and they point us in the direction they saw him flee. He also draws out some of the little gray things. The rest of the team gets behind some hard cover (except for Toaist who gets behind a lamp) and exchange fire. Quite a few of our shots go way off target. Brandt is wounded and falls back into cover. It was intense and I panic but I was able to still stay focused. Taoist seeing Brandt get hit and me in my state also lost it. Vega through some smoke to conceal us both.

My panic was affecting the team. No fear! That is what I said? Before I knew it I was yelling and jumping down to meet the alien face to knee and blew it away. Brandt following my lead ran up and killed the next one. Mr. Hutch made his presence known and we all provided escort as the aliens redoubled their efforts. I must commend Taoist as he put himself into harms way in the hopes of capturing one of the humanoid aliens. That it resulted in failure in no way diminishes the bravery shown. It should also be noted that he drew fire so that the person of interest could make the extraction point.

I tried to call an end to the mission as we were all low on ammo and had wounded. I was informed there were only a few remaining hostiles so we set out to clear the area before leaving.

We engaged the enemies near a walkway with pistols and it was an intense fire fight. Vega in the moment confused threw an errant grenade, no one was hurt. I gave the order to finish them as the opportunity to try and capture didn't seem possible without loss of life.

Double status reports for the win.

Next project: Armor! I mean, if we aren't going to be worrying about cover, we'll need something to absorb plasma bolts.

Good luck with that Puce! If you make it back alive the first round is on me.

Woohoo, I survived!

Next batch of rookies you hire i want to be assigned, here's hoping i role assault or Sniper (current personal game, plasma sniper rifles RULE!)

Hmmm, haven't heard anything from Edwin since I sent him the files. Gonna give him another day or so, if he doesn't respond, do we have any volunteers to take his spot?

Sure, it's been a bit for me.

Sorry, I completely forgot as I am in the middle of wrapping up my last day at work. I have to step down. Sorry.

We are receiving reports of alien abductions across the globe. But, much like the Highlander, there can only be one. Here we come, Buenos Aires!

Chuki Cyrax is the commanding officer for this mission. Unlike the previous commander, who totally ignored my decree to capture one of the aliens, I expect at least 1 live specimen to make it back to base. You have your orders, Squaddie Edwin!

Don't worry about it, real life gets in the way, totally understood. Cyrax, you are up! I sent the file to you a few minutes ago, good luck.

Mission accomplished, Commander. I've enclosed the video feed below. No pictures were taken because the dedicated cameraman fell asleep.

Playlist

Seems the audio's a bit out of sync, sorry about that!

I can't recall how the difficulty was setup? Are these running as Classic/Ironman?

Also, I assume there is a gentlemen's agreement of no do-overs. If someone dies that's just how the cards fall and we all laugh at your failure?

Yes, and yes. I wasn't even tempted to reload. I got mad at the turn of events, cursed some, and then shrugged my shoulders. A good soldier knows how to move on in the field of battle!

Field medic and assassin, I am digging this.

I did do one replay when I was setting up the vid capture. As it captured sound but no picture, the second time it got the picture but no sound. Weird but I didn't think sound was important.

*edit*

So I got a bit burned saturday and I think most of the electronics in the room also got heat damage. Not sure when I will be up and around enough to test and see if they work. Got 2nd degree burns all around my legs and right hand. I am alright but not up for playing while recovering.

So yeah Goop Off, you got to ventilate above and beyond what you think is reasonable. Also if your hot water heater is on the same level just don't unless you like fireballs.

Wow, that's dedication to the realism of the AAR. I applaud you, sir.

But seriously, hope you're doing okay. What the heck happened? Did the can explode or was that just from the fumes in the air?

Duoae wrote:

Thanks, yeah I'm okay. Already discharged from the hospital. Got 2nd degree burns from my knees to my ankles. The house didn't get much if any fire damage, mostly smoke and water. I freaked out and punched a window and dove head first out of it.

Next time I'm up and out of bed I'll try to remember to take a picture of the room.

*edit cause I saw Vega's response*

Thanks for making me laugh! Yeah the fumes reached the pilot light of the water heater, though one fireman said it could have just been static electricity. Hate to derail the thread further. It is my fault though. I was way overzealous and trying to mop the whole room in one go. I'll start a new thread and do an AAR of it.

Wow, that's a crazy story. Love your profile pic! Get well, soldier.

I think Commander Laarrs is on leave as well. Something about basketball, I heard rumored.
