Cartoon watchers with jobs

Oh man, Batgirl really got Nightwing hehe. Good response by Nightwing though. I'm really happy Saturday mornings. Nerdy feelings while just watching cartoons! Last Saturday, my wife wanted to go to Home Depot in the morning and I told her it needed to be after my 9 -1130AM cartoon block. She just laughed and went downstairs

The AV Club's coverage of this episode (also, hey, the AV club is covering this season of Young Justice) brought up an interesting possibility of Longshadow and the other three abducted kids becoming the equivalents of the Wonder Twins, Static, and Apache Chief. I'm hopeful as revealing that the aliens kidnapping humans are doing so to help Earth stop the invasion, albeit through questionable means, would be very interesting. Also, it'd lead to more Blue Beetle, which isn't a bad thing.

Please tell me your lineup. I just don't keep up well enough and never turn on the TV.

Ah pretty easy actually : at 9am on Cartoon Network - Ben 10, Thundercats, Green Lantern, Young Justice and at 11AM Lengend of Korra. When the new season starts I'll be watching Star Wars:Clone Wars as well. You should REALLY check that out if you have not watched it.

Just caught up with Young Justice. Holy f*cking sh*t. They are pulling no punches with the Speedy storyline. I was very against the timeskip (and timeskips in general) but I'm really interested in where this is going.

Young Justice:

I'm a little annoyed by

Spoiler:

The steadiest member of the team suddenly becoming a psychopath. Really needed a little more explanation of that one. It's one thing to get upset about your just-a-friend girl dying, and to find out that your dad is totally awesome, I mean, is a supervillain. But that still leaves a pretty big gap between member of the Justice League and killing thousands of people at a go.

The new storyline is kinda all over the place. It's still a good show, but it's definitely not the direction I would have gone.

I do like seeing Icon as a central member of the league. Dwayne McDuffie influencing the direction of DC Animation from the great beyond.

I was a little down on the origin of beast boy since it means no doom patrol. However, I really liked their version of my main man Lobo.

f*ck yeah Young Justice!

Man this show is right up there with Legend of Korra with dramatic effect!

Ok, I pulled the trigger.

Just finished the first season of Transformers Prime last night on Netflix instant. I flipped when they ended it that way since I thought there wasn't a 2nd season. I then found some streaming options and watched the first arc in season 2. This is a perfect example of why I don't like watching shows as they get released. From what I can tell season 2 is still in progress, though. Is that right?

I think they are on season 4 of transformers prime. I watch them as they come out, well sort of. I usually have 3 or 4 episodes queued up to watch. The current arc is the autobots are trying to find super weapons before the decepticons. If I recall correctly season two was about dark energon.

Anyway just wanted to say that Archer which is currently on netflix instant is pretty good. Seems to be a lot like Frsky Dingo but with more adult humor.

The listings online have 26 episode seasons, with the whole dark energon thing culminating around a volcano and such as the end of Season 1.

Spoiler:

Making Optimus loose his memory at the end of season 1 is what I was referring to. Also, I'm sad that they wrote the 80's tranformers movie out of this show's timeline.

Seems episode 15 of season 2 is the most current, having aired at the end of May. My guess is it will finish up in the fall. Guess I'm gonna give the show a break now before I get too into season 2.

Phineas and Ferb fans anyone? I just caught the first episode of Gravity Falls and it looks really promising, about a brother and sister sent to live with their kooky uncle in the titular oregon town with more going on than it seems. Kristen Schaal voices the sister, and her character is great. Animation seems to be high quality.

That show looks interesting, I'll be trying to check an episode out. I usually watch this stuff at 5Am when I'm eating my cereal before work Beats the morning news!

I really enjoyed it. Wife and son did too. So funny and twisted and odd. Is Tim Burton doing cartoons now?

I've been kind of falling in love with Adventure Time lately. It's hitting all the weird and wonderful notes that I want it to.

Anyone see or heard of Tom Hanks' Electric City? Only watched the first episode, but it looks interesting.

I've read ab out it but haven't had the chance to watch it yet. I think my cable service lost Disney HD (for free) so i can't watch anymore of the Tron series either

New episodes of Young Justice, Green Lantern, and Star Wars the Clone War airs today.

Yeah, that Young Justice episode would have had a lot more oomph if it came a week after the previous episode rather than several months later.

Also, the new TMNT, which is suppose to be good. Good to have new content available, especially since I'll be a passenger for most of tomorrow. The road shall go by quickly.

New episodes of Young Justice and Green Lantern are on itunes. These episodes will not air on CN until January 2013.

TMNT is very good.

Wow. Does Cartoon Network just hate the idea of having good cartoons?

+1000

You bring back a show that was on mid-season break (but not really since 7 episodes hardly counts as middle of the season), show it for two weeks then go on another break for 2-3 months.

How do you expect the kids, who are supposed to be your target audience, to keep up with the schedule or maintain interest, when the adults have trouble doing the same?

Adventure Time episode "I Remember You", just amazing and made me cry.
Please save the Ice King.

edit: if you wanna cry, you're gonna need to watch a lot of Adventure Time and read the wiki a little bit so you're really familiar with the Land of Ooo.

Is this last year's xmas episode?

Spoiler:

The one where you see the videos before he was the Ice King?

I'm enjoying Avengers on Disney XD. They're digging from way back on some stories (Vision), but then going more modern with the whole Secret Invasion. They even managed to work in Winter Soldier and the Red Skull.

I also think Ultimate Spider-Man (also on Disney XD) is very funny. The Wolverine crossover episode had me laughing out loud.

Tron: Uprising is back in full form with Episode 9 (Scars part 1) that just came out. The lead character Beck hardly had more than 12 lines; nope, focus was all on Tron himself.

Basically they pad out the storyline from Tron: Legacy, about the "war" against the ISOs headed by Clu but seen from Tron's point of view. And to do it right they had both Clu and Flynn appear with speaking roles, which really surprised me. Too bad they couldn't get Jeff Bridges to reprise both roles but the voice actor they did get does a pretty ok job. So now it means that all the main players from Tron: Legacy have shown up in the series, with Qurroa appearing back in Episode 6.

Without touching on too much spoilers, we find out that the war against the ISOs wasn't really solely Clu's idea at all. He didn't start it, but instead used the growing resentment among the rest of the Programs in the Grid to justify his own and used himself as the rally point to spark a revolution not just against the ISOs (and possibility against the Grid itself since the Grid dynamically spawned the ISOs.) but also against Flynn, whom is seen as God/Creator by everyone in the Grid, both Program and ISO alike.

Personally I think they should have taken sometime to flesh that out in Tron:Legacy the movie, if it was even a plot point at the time and that the series writers aren't retrospectively adding it back in. This is because in the movie, this part felt kinda thin; Clu just wanted to get rid of the ISOs because they didn't fit his idea of Order in the Grid and so they have to go..oh Flynn supports them so he has to go too, the traitor...and Tron, kill him because he supports Flynn.

But now if it seems like the ISOs weren't really Clu's real problem, then his issues goes deeper than that and is focused on solely on Flynn and to an extent, the Grid itself. I'm starting to think that Clu is only jealous of the ISOs as being flavored by Flynn, he's jealous of Sam Flynn as being the Son of Flynn and not just as a User, he's even jealous of the Grid, in being Flynn's greatest creation and from it the thing that will change " the face of human understanding" as Flynn calls it. He's not jealous of Flynn at all, he doesn't even want to be Flynn. Instead he wants to be Flynn's number one purpose in life and having all the accolades given above.

Would have made for a much better villain than what we got in the movie and if this was the point all along, I must have somehow missed it till now after watching the cartoon series.
