How to Be an All-Inclusive Gender Thread

I went for electrolysis to get rid of my uni-brow back in high school. It was pretty painful, but 12 years latter most of the hairs have not come back. I wish I stuck with it long enough to clean up the outside edges around my eyes and my upper cheeks. Since I am still hairy there my wife loves to torture me by sneaking up with tweezers and plucking them.

I feel like a series of Dragonball Z episodes, only my hair is shrinking instead of growing. Finished up with the reachable portions of my back and bum. I think I am now safe from honorary Bear status. Probably. For a little while, anyway.

I've now got a pretty regularly scheduled appointment with my electrolysist, instead of doing it week-to-week. Going to do two hours once a week (usually Wednesdays), which necessitates leaving work a little early (but I've already talked to my boss about having to leave early about once a week for "personal stuff", and I've been trying to get in to work earlier to make up.) I'll try to get extra hours in as I can in whatever times he has available that don't conflict with other stuff.

Going over to my friend's house tomorrow evening for dinner and makeup practice and stuff (which will almost certainly include Rock Band). Kind of scary. Should be an interesting experience.

I skimmed. As a woman, I can offer up this advice Always shave your legs with soap and water or some other sort of shaving gel. Dry shaving leaves a rash.

This thread motivated me to do some overdue hair removal. Owee my eyebrows hurt now.

That's great!

Really glad to hear it, Hyp.

I've invited some of my transgendered students (those who are in all stages, including just thinking about it) to read these threads. I hope y'all don't mind. I wanted them to know that there are some supremely supportive people in the world of gamers (seeing as how I run the gaming degrees at our school it seemed appropriate).

Hello Students!

I went over to my friends' house this evening, dressed up but with no makeup to start. Had a wonderful dinner with lamb and some wine. Their daughter was entirely unweirded out by me. I felt really awkward and kind of stressed to start, just because it's one thing to talk about stuff, and another to come over while dressed up. Chatted a bunch about different things.

Talked about makeup a bit, and then I put on foundation and eyebrow pencil and lipstick and got a good second opinion that the color is a good match, which makes me feel better about things. Verified that a wig I thought didn't look great on me does not in fact look great on me. (I need to find a nicer wig in the style I like, because they're high quality costume wigs rather than "real" wigs. This other wig is nicer, but the style just does not work.)

And then we played Rock Band for a while until it got late and we were all pretty tired.

It was a very nice evening, and hanging out with friends who've known me for a while and who are not also trans--and having things go well--was a really good feeling. As I remarked in an email afterwards: It would be easy to feel terribly alone right now. Having great friends means I don't.

Every little personal thing means so much.

Friends are a good thing. More different kinds of friends is a great thing. So, thank you all as well for being awesome!

Edit: And to give credit where credit is due, my awesome friend/coworker who I've referred to here is pgroce on these forums.

I discovered today that I can wear a size 11 in some shoe brands, meaning I can buy some shoes in regular stores. I was dreading having to buy everything online.

Woo! That's a good feeling.

And hello, students!

If it's any consolation, I wear the same size.

For further consolation, my wife has (generally) the same size foot I do (mens 13). Her feet are a bit more slender though, so she can fit into some women's 11's as well, though usually an 11 1/2 or 12 fit better.

*ponder* Are those American shoe sizes, because... I just have no idea how anyone could wear a men's 13 and a women's 11. (I wear a men's 9 and a women's 11.) Maybe if you're using American men's and U.K. women's shoe sizes?

I'm not sure, but I imagine she probably told me their size in men's and I just assumed she was talking in women's.

Not really in girl mode here, but it's a picture of me that I don't hate.

Happy picture is happy.

Good god you're adorable.

Your body language has girl mode all over it. And yeah: happy! Nice pic.

I was trying to define what it was, but Amoebic hit the nail on the head.

That's a very sweet pic. I agree that your body language is all girl mode there, and you look very comfortable in your own skin. I guess that's what makes happy picture happy.

Also, I love the shirt.

Step 1: be in a binder

My brain twitches whenever I hear about "binders" in that context. See, binders are what trans men wear to minimize their boobs...

Mitt..tilda?

Uhhh, girls to whom puberty was inordinately kind also wear those.

D'aw, Clockette. <3 Lovely as always, girl mode or not.

You guys are so sweet to me.

True. I've just been totally immersed in trans* stuff, so it's absolutely the [em]first[/em] thing I think of when I hear the word "binder".

Sweetness deserves sweetness. You're awesome. (Also, your avatar is the cutest thing ever--even more so now that I know what it's from.)

Clockette avatar: What is it from?!
