I was a little bothered by a single button that unleashes every nightmare they have collected in that place, and it being something one could just press. What would the benefit of that be? Why would anyone want such a thing? It made no sense, but I don't like letting myself get too bogged down in those kinds of things when I am enjoying a crazy bloodbath.

Clearly there is a third or fourth layer in this movie where someone has designed this facility to feed a different elder god's sense of humor.

I love it! I wouldn't mind seeing a Japanese version of this movie - obviously the particular instance would have to be different if we want to have the same universe.

Unicorns are fallen pegasi who sprout a single horn in response to being stripped of their wings. Tom Cruise and Tim Curry once valiantly fought against the unicorn threat, but alas Tom was unable to resist the charms of the dark side.

It's elder gods all the way up and all the way down.

"Yeah, but it's kind of a Female Doggo making that crack from this angle, know what I'm sayin'?"

sh*tty engineering like this ruins so many movies for me. Movie studios need to hire me to walk around a set and say "that wouldn't happen" a lot.

Jonman could stop production of Parker Bros. adaptations at fifty paces.

Normally sh*tty engineering in movies bugs me too, but this movie is all about making fun of stupid movie tropes. There's always a convenient big red button in movies.

sh*tty engineering of any kind bothers me. Especially the kind I have been responsible for.

That, sir, is a very good point.

Ooh, in one of the containment areas, I saw a Boomer! Man, I was hoping to see someone get smoked or hunted or boomed.

I just re-watched it. It wasn't a single button, she also had to throw a switch. It even had one of those safety covers so you couldn't accidentally throw it.

There are a couple L4D infected in the containment boxes. I think there's a Tank and a Witch too.

According to the director, they had already talked with Valve when they were working on the (canceled) Cabin in the Woods map for L4D, and they had a lot of boxes to fill, so...

Awesomeness -- Once I saw the boomer, I just kind of fixated on that.

I tried to freeze frame and saw none of these things. I'm going to have to Google this up.

I saw it this weekend and I enjoyed the film. I loved the first 4/5 or so of the film, but that back part seemed too rushed. Also, I didn't feel the transition from post-modern horror film to action film highlighted the film's real strengths. I wish that the film had spent more time relishing the real story in the last 1/5 or so, and feel that sometimes Josh Whedon attends to "cool" over polish- but with that said the ending did certainly feel cool.

I liked the movie, and maybe even liked it quite a bit, but just felt disappointed that it seemed such a mad dash to the end.

THe boomer was near the middle left of the screen when they pan out and show all the boxes.

I watched this tonight. Enjoyed it. Somehow I made it through all this time staying 100% spoiler free. All I knew was the title, that Joss was involved and it somehow deconstructed the horror genre. So glad I went in knowing nothing more than that.

I just saw this. Was quite fun. Since I'd seen a trailer that showed some CCTV stuff, the reason behind 'the twist' was quite clear from when the credits rolled and you saw human sacrifices. Nice to see the story behind it, but the speech about the victims 'making choices' makes no sense when they're being drugged and corralled.

I saw it as the kind of paper-thin justification that real bureaucracies use to let themselves sleep at night.

"We are.Protecting! The stockowner's investment!! *Intense stare* *Sharp glance to the side and a jerk of the head* Let HR handle them. *Horde of headless Racoons swarm down to shred the group of interns with their tiny frantic claws, alternating with feeble nudges from their bloody neck stumps*

See, I'd watch a horror film where the menace is headless raccoons.

I bet there was a cell with headless raccoons in it. They had everything else.

Gremlin wrote:

In the spirit of Cabin in the Woods, which is to move alway from slock horror films, it can't be about Just Headless Raccoons.
It has to be about Headless Raccoons who don't know that they are headless.

They are just soooo Hungry. But they can't seem to eat anything. I mean they try and try but nothing seems to go in. Maybe if they made stuff smaller...smaller and smaller and smaller still....and frantically, faster Faster! Something has to work. They try this guy, no didn't work, they try that group of girls...nononono Again!

After some time they finally figure out that they have no heads, no mouths, no breathing, no eyes and no brains. Then they kneel over and stop.

Existential Horror. That's where the sh*tz at now.

Sequel: ravenous disembodied raccoon heads. No matter how much they eat, they can never feel full.

It feels weird to see them trying tio make this as a serious film again.

What....why?

I thought the whole point, especially after getting the screenwriter for Jennifer's Body, was to make it like...wait, y'know what? Nevermind.

The whole idea of remaking The Evil Dead, a film that was a serious attempt at a horror at a low budget that was so bad it was hilarious and thus became a cult classic, is insulting enough. But what they're doing there....

f*ck it. I don't care if Sam Raimi is attached. Just f*ck that movie.
