WoW 5.0 - Mists of Pandaria

Propagandalf wrote:

Do you have to wait until you're 90 to start grinding the dailies?

Most of them.

Klaxx'i - You can start doing these as soon as you do the normal Klaxx'i quest that unlocks it. Probably not until 89 or so, since surviving the quests might be hard below that. Not sure what the requirement is for the first quest in the Dread Wastes though, might be 88.
Tillers - Requires 90, but nothing else
Golden Lotus - Requires 90, and a short quest chain that unlocks them (there's a short quest chain to start, at honored, and at revered, I think)
August Celestials - Requires 90 and revered with Golden Lotus
Shado-Pan - Requires 90 and revered with Golden Lotus
Serpent Riders - Requires 90 and ability to fly in Pandaria
Anglers - Think this one requires 90, but not 100% certain.
Lorewalkers - Not sure. The dailies here aren't nearly as important as visiting all the historical shrines though, which you can do at any time you can survive in the various zones.

Minor clarifications.

Klaxx'i: The dailies do indeed unlock as you proceed through the normal questline for this zone. All the quests in Dread Wastes have a minimum level requirement of 89.

Golden Lotus: In order to start the quest chain that unlocks the Golden Lotus dailies, you must have Wisdom of the Four Winds (a.k.a. Pandarian Flying) trained. If you haven't trained it, the quests simply won't be there. Blizzard figured out that some people (like me) might try to do some of the dailies first to save money since the flight trainer in Pandaria is Golden Lotus faction, and cut us off by making you train it before collecting any rep.

The Anglers: There are three unusual fish that you can catch from various places in Pandaria - the Flying Tiger Gourami, the Mimic Octopus, and the Spinefish Alpha. Each of these fish start a daily quest to turn them in to Nat Pagle at Anglers Wharf, and reward reputation with both Nat and with the Anglers. You can turn in each fish once per day, for a little over 1000 Anglers reputation total. The fish quests only require level 85. All the other, "normal" Anglers dailies require 90.

Lorewalkers: The daily quest for the Lorewalkers does not award reputation. The only way to collect Lorewalker rep is to visit the various lore objects scattered throughout the world. When you finish a complete set, you will get an achievement and earn reputation automatically. Then you will receive a scroll in the mail from Lorewalker Cho, which starts a quest asking you to come out to the Seat of Knowledge, where he will tell you a story related to that particular lore set (the history of one of the races of Pandaria, generally). Turning in this quest also rewards reputation. You can visit the lore objects whenever you want, and as far as I am aware none of them require a flying mount. However, the quests that start from the scrolls that Lorewalker Cho sends you require level 90, so you cannot reach Exalted until then.

These quest stories from Lorewalker Cho are, by the by, exceedingly awesome.

Great info, thanks guys!

Is it possible to mail BoA items between servers or factions? I'd like to reroll on a pvp server and am curious..."bind on account" is throwing me off.

Mail between factions? Yes. Just send it in the mail with the toon's name. However, you cannot send anything other than the BOA gear.

Mail between servers? No. The only way to get BOA gear on another server is to pay for a server transfer on a toon who has a bunch of BOA gear on them or in their bank. I did just that about a month ago.

Thanks!

@ Xosa: If you ever do decide to re-roll on a PvP server, you can get BOA gear via your guild (through guild rep and a lot of gold) and the Darkmoon Faire (via tokens).

Gaining guild rep is a lot easier these days. But this is a very slow way to get there.

Blizzard has talked (again) about possibly making BOA gear actually bind to account, not merely bind to characters on your account on one particular server. But there's nothing imminent, and I doubt it will ever happen.

TL,DR: Spend the $25 on the transfer, and load up your transfer mule with gold, BOA gear and stuff to sell on the new realm.

I'm sitting here not believing we've been griping about this since Wrath and they haven't done anything about it yet. They must be maniacally cackling as they rake in $25 transfer fees from people wanting to level their pandas in the company of friends with the BIND ON ACCOUNT (*not* REALM) heirlooms they worked hard to earn.

Blizzard's already put a stake in the ground for cross-realm socializing with the Battle.net friend system, and they're being extremely hypocritical by not doing what they really should have done in the first place with heirlooms, all under the guise of supposed technical hurdles (which we all know do not exist...character transfers take less than 5 minutes after your credit cards has been happily approved).

Question for all you guys - I'm looking to return to WoW after a very long break (I've hit 80 in GW2, and finished my last story quest so putting it down for a bit) and have the following questions:

Using the scroll of resurrection it says I get a free realm and/or race change. I have an old character I'd like to bring to a new server as I'm probably going to be playing on medivh. if I use the realm change, does it have to be to the realm that the person who offered the scroll is on? This would kind of defeat the purpose as I want to move my old lvl 80 off a PVP realm to a PVE since I'm pretty much a wuss.

How is the BWJ presence in the game? Horde/Alliance, don't care. I have the option to join a pretty established lvl 25 guild. I really have no idea what that means but was told it's good to join for perks, etc ...

First to offer up the scroll of rez to me gets it. I'd rather it go to someone who still needs the mount. I plan on starting the download in the next 3 hours so the sooner the better on this

EDIT: Did some research and it looks like it's only to the server that the scroll of rez was sent from. I don't mind heading to Blackhand with the goodjers if there are still quite a few of them around. If not I'll head over to Medivh with work buds

I have a scroll of a rez in my inbox right now but it's not for anyone on Blackhand. If you want to send a scroll to Dethroned on Mal'Ganis I will use the one from here. Can I have horde/alliance chars on the same server or is that not able to be done? I'd like somehow to at least be able to mail the cash I have to my panda but all my chars are horde. I'd definitely join up with you guys. Always a more friendly bunch than some random guild

I leave work in 115 minutes, not that I'm counting, so would be nice to have a scroll by then so I can use it and get everything started.

Hey! I'll have you know the Horde guild is at level 5 and doing quite well for a one person guild thank you very much.

P.S.

Pretty good, actually. GWJ Alliance (there's a Horde counterpart, but it's not all that active, and they kick major m$%^&!*^$!ing @ss!) had 15+ on last night, as folks are trickling back from GW2 and other distractions. Folks were knocking out the Pandaria Dungeon Hero achievement, and there's talk of raiding pretty soon, maybe as soon as this weekend.

This isn't a leet raiding guild. The guild raids 1-2 times per week and will get through all the regular 10-mans sooner than later. But it's a good group, and Mists is a lot of fun. Come join us! If you don't want to spend the money on a transfer, roll a monk, join the guild and faceroll your way to 90.

p.s. Wherever you end up, it helps to be part of a higher-level guild. Here are the perks. There's a lot of nice stuff there.

Edited for accuracy

Thanks, thats what I did last night. BoA cape and legs from the guild plus weapons (staff and mace), trinkets, helm and chest that I had leftover. Sent them to a level 1 horde toon but unfortunately you can't send gold. Probably transfer him over to Bleeding Hollow this weekend.

Also, what are the talents/spells that give hunters so much healing? I did a few BGs last night and kept seeing hunters in the top 3 for healing done. I've never played a hunter for more than a week so they are kind of foreign to me.

I loaded up the game and gave it a shot last night. Unfortunately I was pretty disappointed. I might have to give it a couple more days before making my final decision, but after GW2 I got used to that playstyle. I kept hitting all the wrong keys and combat seemed really slow. Granted I'm only level 5 or 6 so just going on my initial impressions after coming back. I checked an old toon and found 250g on him, some orbs in the bank, and being completely lost in Dalaran. He was weilding the really cool looking axe off the first boss in ICC so that was fun

I decided on a panda hunter. I had a BM hunter in the past and wanted to start over, rather than starting at level 80. I enjoy the levelling, the grinding of reps, etc .. I don't know that I can even join a guild using a scroll of rez but might want to do that just to get the guild perks. My character name is Dethunterz. Dethunter was taken so I added a z. Not sure that I can even send tells or what restrictions I have but if any of you see me on tonight, say hi and shoot me an invite to the guild if possible!

Did you move a toon? I was hoping you would stick around on your priest. I was looking forward to having a pocket healers for BGs and 2s.

As for hunters, it's probably Spirit Bond, a Tier 3 talent. As long as a hunter's pet is alive, a hunter regains health (2 percent every 2 secs).

@ Dethroned ... do a /who GWJ if you want a guild invite and pst someone. Chances are someone's on who has guild invite powers.

I, and everyone else, would be more than happy to pop you a guild invite, but it doesn't work on Pandaren who haven't chosen a faction yet. You have to keep going through the quest line until you get there - I think it's level 10-ish or so. Once you become an honest-to-goodness member of the Alliance, we'd be glad to hook you up.

Exactly how I felt at first. Loaded it up, wasn't impressed and went back to GW2. Loaded up WoW again last weekend and am having with it. Both games scratch the same itch for different reasons.

@Enix, the priest and druid are staying so whisper me whenever you want to BG. I haven't played on a pvp server in about 5 years and found one thats pretty active...just feel like starting a new character.

Updated 5.1 patch notes are up.

Who's got the buffs? Gotta have those buffs. We've got the buffs. Gotta have those buffs. HURR!

Chakra: Serenity now increases single target healing by 25% (was 15%).
Chakra: Sanctuary now increases area healing by 25% (was 15%).

Monks OP pls nerf.

I was going to post something like "duh", but then I realized you're not even playing. Which is humorous to me. So: yes.

So after giving the game another shot last night I'm having a lot more fun. I made it to 11 or 12 and joined the GWJ guild. Despite people hating my name (Dethunter was taken so I used Dethunterz). Apparently the z is bringing my name down to awful levels. I don't want to restart though so you guys will just have to deal.

I'm not 100% sure if I'm sticking with the game yet. I am enjoying it and even though I have to drag my feet through the Cata zones which I was not terribly fond of, I'm hoping with some BoA equipment things will speed up and I won't need to spend as much time in each zone.

DeThroned wrote:

I'm assuming the name is intended to match your GWJ nick, so it's intended to be "Det-hunter"? Sadly, in game it reads as if you were shooting for "Death Hunter" which is totally not a bad name if you're a 11 year old boy.

I may have to restart my character tonight, I'm really hating the name I chose. It was a "dethroned + hunter" mashup but it didn't work out. I might just choose something without "Deth" in it as I can't come up with anything good

On the other hand you could just embrace your inner child and reroll as xxDe4thunterxx!

Assuming you go Pandaren, just go with something creative like "Panhuntler".

Knowing the Pandarens, shouldn't it be "Beer Hunter"?

Beerhunter would make an awesome Pandaren hunter name!

Yes, you will name your hunter "Beerhunter" and be a beautiful and unique snowflake!

OK, maybe not.

I went with Smakkum. I had an Iksar Monk in EQ named Smakkum Lots so it just seemed to work. After spending 5k on BOA stuff (roughly) I think I'm all set to level. Hit 19 earlier today, can't wait to get 20 so I can use mounts. I believe I have 70 of them. Also, HOLY PET BATTLES! They are a lot of fun

Oh, on the 5k, I transferred over my old hunter who happened to have 16k gold on him. Helped a ton
