2012: Unofficial GWJ Secret Santa 6.0 feat. Trichy Claus

Until it's determined we're going with Elfster, I'm just going to throw my name in the hat here.

Bah, I missed that it was invite only. Send me your email somehow (PM or email me edwing at the googz).

Are the pairings usually by region? I'm not sure if I can do international shipping.

Usually by region, but Max also took volunteers willing to ship international for great giving.

I'm down for anything that makes it easier. I just need to know if people are okay with me coordinating the whole orgy of gift giving.

Thanks for picking up the mantle, trichy!

You are so nice I posted twice!

I'm in. Just so you know, I'm only giving out World of Warcraft, since that's the only game I can vouch for!

Yeah I'm in. I'll figure out how to budget it.

I'll volunteer to be your helpful elf.

You just saw the word 'orgy', didn't you?

The Bear Clan is in and I am willing to help

Robear
Kiri
Dr Incurable

Oh bother! This is Kiri, Dr didn't log out again.

If you can get the gift history (past gift pairings), contact info, and relation lists (Don't pair Robear and Kiri for example), I can write up a quick Hungarian algorithm script to do the pairings.
If you include emails along with the contact info, I'm fairly certain I can write a script to send out all the emails too.
I'll just need to know the structure of the data (Put it in a TSV with headers and tell me the header values) and then I can pass off the code to you for execution, that way user data is only ever exposed to one source.

I'm in.

so who is organizing this and how do we communicate our preferences? e.g.: national/international, male/female, etc.

I've never done one so I am in this year. It's a good year to give back!

I'm in too.

Want to join!

I'm in. I'll monitor the thread for updates.

In again.

Yeah, I'm in again.

Okay, we're still sorting out the Elfster method, so until then, PM me with your location and any special preferences (male/female, etc.).

Here's who I have so far. Even if you're on the list, please let me know your details.

Elfster won't do the preference on location, gender, etc. So if you guys want to go with the stuff boogle suggested earlier by all means. But if we do want to go with the elfster, I found a sign up link. If someone wants to give it a try and let me know if it works, that would be cool.

Er, I think I'm going to have to bow out this year as I just realized I have no idea what my address will be this Christmas.

You can typically have your mail forwarded to your new address with most postal services.

I'm emigrating, which complicates matters.

I would then just tell you to ask for digital stuff (and make it known in your list).

I don't know, Maq. Whoever gets you can just ask the organizer what your address is when they're ready to ship and as long as you report whatever address will work for you for a couple of weeks, that should still work.

I'm in!

Yeah, that's not a bad idea. Having thought about it, though, I suspect it's more expense and complication than I need right now so as much as I enjoy it I'll skip it this year.
