Borderlands 2 Catch-All

Isn't 50 just an arbitrary number anyway?

Yes, it is. Unlike 69.

I can't see them letting the final cap being less that the first game, so I would imagine each DLC would come with a level increase of 5, except one with only 4. :p

Personally I'm more open to expanding the available loot and giving us a few more skill points, but I think it's almost certain there will be a level cap increase sooner or later...

I am amazed at how much I miss my ammo regen mod from b1.

Think there'll be more gold keys this weekend?

I kept checking twitter last night and it was all about some con they're attending.

Hate level cap increases? Isn't there a small part of you who wants to know what all those skills you didn't pick feel like?

There's this wonderful concept called respec. I hear the kids are into that sort of thing now.

I miss ammo and health regen from the first game as well, but I also recognize that they made the game weaker in the amounts that were available. Part of the controlling factor in Vladof automatic sniper rifles is that they burn through your ammo like crazy. Otherwise they would dominate the game. That's okay for a Commando who only uses it as his backup weapon. Less okay for an Assassin who really wants to stay a million miles away from anything that does damage.

Maybe I don't mind this as much because I like using a wide variety of weapons on every toon. Borderlands is all about weapon variety for me. I want to use and try as many weapons as possible, so I don't restrict my choices based on class. My Zer0 has a submachine gun and an assault rifle, even though his class says he prefers sniper rifles and shotguns.

Been farming the bosses today. The Bee Shield has taught me that the best defense is a withering hail of automatic gunfire.

About the Golden Keys:

By the by, if you still have Golden Keys, do NOT save them for level 50. Just don't. Purples at level 50 are a dime a dozen. If you're on PC, I'll give you a handful if you want. There's a bunch of farmable chests, locations, and bosses on PC. You don't need those keys at level 50.

You may want to reserve them for levels where farming is impractical or difficult. Needless to say, NOT levels 28-36, because that's the endpoint of the first playthrough and has similarly farmable locations for loot of that level. Probably not level 7, either, since I leveled up my new Mechromancer to 8 just getting to Sanctuary.

Practical use of Hyperion Guns:

Hyperion weapons have precise targeting, but have annoying amounts of sway for the first shot, and a wide crosshair firing from the hip. Neither method of firing is optimal. For Hyperion snipers, crouch and wait for the sway to subside. Hyperion snipers with good RoF, "increased stability" and good damage are excellent weapons.

For shotguns and pistols, approximate the center of the crosshairs when aiming, then zoom and shoot at nearly the same instant. This takes advantage of the narrow spread of Hyperion shotguns for a focused and devastating shot. Keep trained on your target and eliminate it.

I found the easy way to beat Terramorphous. Get glitched so that you instantly get a Second Wind as soon as you go down.

That happened to me in The Caustic Caverns once! It was weird. It stayed that way until I quit the game.

This is also more viable without the weapon bonuses from the first game. My BL1 Siren was locked in to SMGs forever after she had used them early and skilled up. There was no way to match even great weapons of other types.

The BL2 system is much more open. I've generally always carried a sniper rifle on my Assassin, and a rocket launcher for FFYL mode, but the other 2 guns are in flux depending on drops. Some pistols, some shotguns, some ARs, some SMGs... whatever is good I find a way to use it.

Edit: Nvm, see previous page.

Ever since I got the Vladof skin I knew it would go well with this hat, finally I have them both

I was just telling Mantid last night that Vladoff Sickle is my favorite skin. So far it looks good on every character and/or head I try it on.

And I just found it on my commando for a siren, meaning I should have it unlocked for her when I start her, right? Sweet!

Edit: So no golden key love today? /sadpanda

Anyone else having trouble keeping stacks of Anarchy (as Mechromancer) when playing co-op? Hate to think that I may have to respec each time I go from single to multiplayer...
I will say that the shock wave that comes after reloading is a blast [hur, hur] but makes one very environmentally aware (e.g. Do not reload next to a fire barrel ;)).

Im finding the assassins bonus damage for sighting down the barrel particularly effective with a couple of good assault rifles.

Spoiler:

awesome to find the badlands, and walk that old route out through the gates where the bandits were always coming down the road

Internet was out. God bless steam and gearbox for offline mode.

I've been rocking the Jackobs Family skin since I found it.

Day: made.

If it had been mentioned, I missed it. Very nice.

First, if you're dropping Purples I'll always take one. B) Does the chest only give purples?

demonbox:

I'll friend you and set ya up nice. My handle on Steam is different. Just approve of the friend invite if the name has "2k" in it. Tell me what you need and I'll see what I have in the Vault. Probably good to know class, level, and spec, too.

The Golden Chest also gives pink items. I have not heard of it dropping legendaries; there's too few instances of it anyway to expect much. Farming is the name of the game for loot hunting. If you want a legendary, you trace who's got it (which boss) and hunt him down (usually over and over - hence farming).

Done! (Well, the first playthru)

Now, I can concentrate on different game for a little, and come back when DLCs will be a lot more available..

I know the Booty one is coming in 2 days (16), but I wanted to get the season pass. Was hoping to get a small discount on that before going again in BL2.

Golden Chest also gives blues I found out... twice.

I can't remember now if it was relics or class mods, but one of those categories was blue instead of purple, and it was worse than the stuff I had. Not fun.

It will some times give blue relics. It does give purple relics but they're rare. I got six relics out of it (all crap) and only one was purple. Everything else is always purple.

Manach, can you please stop posting boss screenshots publicly? Those automatically show up in the Friends community stream, and it's now spoiled 3 bosses for me. This is bad design on Steams part, but there's nothing I can do about it from my end.

hum, oh, never thought of that.

Loved the game, was taking pic of everything. guess I'll go and hide them

Edit : I have made them private for the last 6. The others were rather at the start of the game.

Thanks. It's a really silly system, and I wish Valve had thought it through a bit more. Just having an option to select what types of posts to see from individuals would solve the problem, but as it stands my options (as a receiver) are to see all screenshots from everybody, or to see none at all.

I've fallen in love with True Vault Hunter mode in the same way as the higher difficulties of Diablo III. I die a lot more, but it's just a meatier experience compared to the first run. Really glad that is the case and it's not just punishingly difficult all the way through.

Finished my first playthrough.
Long final area is long.

I have just tried using double Longbow Shield turrets after respeccing that way to beat the raid boss. It is awesome.

I'm pretty impressed that all three 'ultimates' from Axton's skill trees are functional, effective and fun. You'd have to work at it to get a dud build for a commando. I haven't gotten anyone else to 50, the gunzerker at 42 is my next highest, but I'm not getting that same feeling from the gunzerker or the assassin.

Nonsense! You can just kick Manach off your friends list! :p

You obviously are not playing the Gunzerker right! :p

At least, the Sniper ultimate "Critical Ascension" is somewhat less than thrilling. I generally run out of targets before I can get the count up to something significant.
