The Walking Dead (from Telltale Games) - Catch All

My favorite episode yet.

I really have not gotten into the whole zombie thing. I watched a few episodes of the show and I've read the first issue of the comic. However, everyone's praise of the game (plus getting the first two episodes for free on PSN) persuaded me to try it.

Holy sh*t.

Telltale has made me a customer. I bought Episode 3 about 5 minutes after finishing the second episode, and I'll be getting the rest when they are released.

Finally, an Episode 3 spoiler:

Spoiler:

I think I closed my eyes when I shot Duck.

It got really dusty in my office, during the lead-up to that scene.

Whilst logging into Amazon to check the status of my Borderlands 2 order, I came across this:

http://www.amazon.com/The-Walking-De...

Looks like they have the collection-on-disc format scheduled to release in November?

Here is a nice writeup about the "terror of choice" in The Walking Dead.

Thanks for sharing that

Best part of episode 3:

Spoiler:

"Who the heck likes Civil War history other than old white guys?"

Priceless expression from Lee.

Episode Four trailer.

I want to interpret the "this season's penultimate episode" line as meaning they intend on making more of these with other characters after they wrap up Lee and Clem's storyline.

Because that would make me happy. Or terribly depressed. Or both.

It just means there is one more episode in this storyline after Ep 4. As I recall, this is a 5 episode run.

Not watching the trailer since I'm Day One'ing it anyway, but did it have a release date at the end?

Yup! It was an Apple-style stealth release, you can go get it right now!

(Shhhh, nobody tell him that it just said "coming soon.")

I know what "penultimate" means. The part of the sentence I found intriguing was the "this season's" part- why describe it that way unless further seasons were intended?

"season 2" is next year. I don't know if that means a whole set of new characters or if we get more Lee and Clem.

Yeah - I figured you knew that part; I mean that I don't think they've made a commitment beyond this 5-episode season at all, and that it was just phrasing to tie into the comic/show. But if it's nearly as popular as it seems to be, then you're probably right, there will be season 2.

Not sure how I feel about that though. YEA for success and awesome story telling. But also, not sure if I can spend a lot more time in that world.

Next episode coming tomorrow!

Already!?! Nice!

I wonder if retail is forcing them to get done sooner... hopefully it doesn't effect the quality.

Episode 3 came out in August. They've had over a month for this one.

IIRC there was more than a month between the first two episode drops.

Hey GWJers, I need some help!

I had to reformat my hard drive since playing episode 2 and I made the poor assumption that TWD saves were in my Steam Cloud, but that turns out not to be true. I am without a save file and ready to dive into episode 3. I can't seem myself replaying 4-5 hours of the first two episodes again.

Can anyone upload their save files in the name of all that is good? I can't be too picky about other people's choices, but I will list my decisions (only 2 episodes worth) in a spoiler tag.

Spoiler:

I saved Duck and Doug in episode 1. I killed Danny (first brother) and spared the second brother. I stopped Clem from eating the human meat and took the supplies in the car at the end. Oh and I helped Kenny kill Larry :(

Please guys I really would like a decent save file without having to replay the game

Did you search the net for save game creator?

On a different not steam is converting the walking dead to a different format. Better log in now to get this over with for the update. hmmm I hope this doesn't mess up my game.

Episode 4 is up on Steam. XCOM took my time tonight but I will definitely play this tomorrow. Great year for games.

Oh crap, now I don't want to go to work. So many pressures on my gaming time.

Do not read this if you haven't played the episode 4

Spoiler:

I was surprised at the range of choice you had at the end. Only 6% picked my one man stands alone choice. I was thinking I didn't want to risk anyone else and Clem was my responsibility. I wonder if everyone will die at the end or will they do a ending for every possible combination. Well they could just have Lee die before we know if everyone got out safe. No way Lee can have a happy ending.

I chose to kill the boy myself
I lied to Vernon
I saved Ben
I hid the bite from the others

All my choices were on the low end except for saving Ben which was around 64 percent. I also gave Clem a gun. I wish they had the totals for that? What happens if you don't give her the gun? If you give her a gun she kills some zombies that get in the house.

I certainly did. Somehow, there are no save game generators or even save files to download anywhere on the net.

Slowly plodding my way through episode one again =\

So it doesn't let you jump right into Episode 3 with some assumed decisions, or pregame question session? Interesting design choice.

I'm really looking forward to this episode, but it'll be several weeks before I can carve out the time for the slow pace I want to approach it with. And yes, XCOM doesn't help.

Another crackin' episode.

Spoiler:

I don't think I've played anything this year as tense as that bit when you get back from the sewers for the first time and can't find Clementine!

Sadly, I suspected that the *thing that happens* near the end was an inevitability. Ah well

I got that annoying thing where it didn't show me the names of each of the choices at the end, but I think they were...

Spoiler:

killed the boy myself
I saved Ben (JUST...was a close call).
Showed the bite to the others
Got everyone still alive (including Ben and Kenny) to come with

You can play any chapter you want. The game will just pick for you if you don't play the previous one.

I didn't think this episode was as good as the previous ones.

Spoiler:

I was surprised that only 20% of people hid the bite from the group. What happens if you tell them? I would have assumed it meant you'd have to go alone at the end but the final group stats don't support that. I really wanted to go alone because I kind of hate all the other people but I ended up with Kenny and Ben because it seemed like what my character would do.

I assume it isn't possible to save Chuck since he isn't in any of the group possibilities. I found it annoying that I shot the zombie that he ended up attacking in the head five times and it didn't die presumably just so he would have to sacrifice himself.
