They're long gone but I still love The Hippos

There's a street near my house named "Paulina" (they pronounce it "puh-lie-nuh" around here for some reason). Every time my wife and I pass it, I can't help but sing this.

Let's all be friends; we share the same thoughts already, anyway.

The new Bob Mould record "Silver Age" is a $5 MP3 download this month at Amazon. It is excellent.

<3 Bob Mould.

Yeah, it's difficult for me not to like stuff by Bob Mould.

Chillaxin track. It's already being remixed. I'll let you know when the dubstep version is released.

Is it rainy and pretty dreary where you live? It's like that here today and this goes really well with it. Some nice, 80's-ish dreampop.

Woah. Can only find a Vimeo video, but.... woah:

That was great - thanks for sharing!

I can't seem to stop playing this song over and over again...

I just discovered the Split Infinity radio station through TuneIn and, so far, it is quite possibly my most favorite station of all time. It introduced me to these great pieces of music:

^New favorite band^

Intermixed with theme music from Cowboy Bebop, Portal, Power Rangers, Ghostbusters, Zelda, Nyan Nyan Cat, etc. and musical talents of Prodigy, Daft Punk, Metallica, Aerosmith, 3 Doors Down, and Foo Fighters, etc., the extreme variety within this station is refreshing.

I can see what you mean about playing that again and again and again...

Spoiler:

...and again and again and again and... well you get the idea

Oddly additive little chant.

I posted this a long time ago, but I figured I'd post it again. I was watching Jiro Dreams of Sushi on Netflix and heard some background music that I recognized. I remembered that it was from the Shutter Island soundtrack (On the Nature of Daylight). This is the mashup of that with Dinah Washington's This Bitter Earth.

If you need a daily dose of jazz, here you go:

These guys are opening for Lagwagon here in Chicago tonight!. I haven't seen them in ages, but I'm not going to make it tonight either

You should have them stay in your apartment WipEout.

That'd probably come across as creepy now ("Hey! You stayed in my parents' RV 11 years ago! Wanna crash at my place now?! HURRHURRHURR!!"), but I did shoot them a message on Facebook, maybe I can catch up with them at some point.

Dude, just call it tradition.

I just discovered Marian Call. She played tonight at a comic store to an intimate crowd of maybe 30 people. She has a gorgeous voice and is delightfully geeky.

Did I mention that one of the instruments she uses is a typewriter?

Thanks for these, love them!

In the same vein as Pogo, Melody Sheep (of the Symphony of Science) released a remix on Frankenweenie that is fairly moving:

I've mentioned Émilie Simon here before, but I was just rewatching some of her Bedford Sessions, and have to re-share because they are awesome.

She has a pretty voice. I think I said that last time you posted her stuff here too

What I'm listening to right now:

Bob Mould - The Descent

His new record is probably the best thing he's done since Sugar. Can't stop listening.

Skimmer! But that's okay, worth a repost.

Wow, not a skimmer, an idiot. I even responded to the original post.

We'll just pretend I quoted it and commented instead.

This won't be new to tuffalo, but I've been digging The Helio Sequence's new album quite a bit.

Here's Titus Andronicus playing tracks from their upcoming "Local Business" record in a local business in Brooklyn—Vinnie's Pizzeria:

More here from Main Drag Bushwick Supply and here from Crest Hardware.

Enjoying the new Donald Fagen album "Sunken Condos," as any other fan of the Steely Dan sound would.

Also really enjoying Mothlite's "Dark Age," which is Talk Talk meets trip-hop. High quality, layered, beautiful album.

edit: I like this one from "Dark Age" even more...

Flying Lotus's latest album is really damn good. It's pretty darn dense, but it's really starting to grab me.

My favorite one is Hunger feat. Niki Randa, but I can't find a YouTube version of it. The Thom Yorke one is pretty good too.
