I'll show you a picture of myself if you show one of yours. Deal?

Children grow. Trees grow. Businesses are built.

I was told off by a very experienced editor for making that mistake.

"Grow your business" is a very common phrase (at least over here). I think your very experienced editor was just being a jerk for telling you off over something so very minor.

I am of the camp that a common misuse, is still a misuse. Will most people really notice it, maybe not.

A big one in my field is to state that a court "felt or feels."

Taking that extra step of proper word use and selection, I believe shows an added dimension of attention to detail and professionalism.

PPS. That photo was taken after we'd parked the bus for the day, no beer before driving

Edit: Here's a short look at what happens on the bus while I'm driving.

How long did it take for the boobs to start getting whipped out after the video was taken? Also, where is that video?

Some people mistake opinion for accuracy. Statements like "growing businesses" is more than fine, as long as you are aware of connotations and options. Even very experienced editors have the right to be full of themselves. Not saying I love or hate the phrase, just people who mistake their preference for a golden rule.

I'll bring this up at our next meeting, I welcome all criticism!

I'm the IT guy of the company, unix server, etc so I'm not really part of the content creation part but I'll bring this up!

Our business has grown organically.

Businesses are neither constructions nor plants, but sometimes will act like one or both. Figurative language, if used thoughtfully, adds meaning.

(Some companies grow like Tetsuo at the end of Akira.)

I'm betting this is the answer our marketing guy will give us. I still think some wording could be improved.

Speaking of, here's our Marketing guy after an 80 hour week:

It also gives me a moment to brag about the chess set from Kuwait, it's made from bone!

Not every bus ride involves boobs... Ok, well, most do, but still... And those videos are in my private collection

Must remember to budget vacation time for RAGBRAI.

What kind of bone? That is pretty, please don't kill me.

The salesman in Kuwait City said ivory and animal bone to my friend until she said she didn't want anything with ivory then it magically became made of only animal bone.

"Diction" has two definitions.

I have never seen that before. I am now a happier person.

Hi guys! Here's a picture of zero and me from last nights festivities:

Nice costumes! Though I can't recall Dexter having that gleeful a look...

I want to know what crime Luna committed to merit Dexter's attentions.

See Cartoonin's sig.

That dress doesn't look like it breathes very well, Luna. It must have been really humid under there.

Great costumes, both of ya!

It was a bit humid, yes.

Happie Halloween!

Man, Luigi has REALLY let himself go!

Luna, is that dress 100% plastic wrap? Pretty neat if so. I wouldn't have expected it to get opaque enough to be modest.

Yup, it was just regular plastic wrap. She was wearing pasties and flesh toned underwear, but yeah, with enough layers it actually was opaque enough that you really couldn't see enough detail to tell what was skin and what was not.

I like to think that he'd have been gleeful in my position.

Since when is Lunabean modest?!

No offense, Jonman, but Donut looks better in a Mario outfit than you do. Of course, that may be my heterosexual bias showing too. On the bright side, you are the spitting image of a hero of mine, Phil Plait, the Bad Astronomer!

Based on the hand gestures, I think Donut isn't just Mario, she's [em]Sailor Mario[/em].

Psh. Donut's costume is no match for the power of my inflatable belly!
