GWJ OOTP League Thread

I can make it. I usually make my moves in the morning before work.

I'm with tboon. But I dont mind if we skip a sim or two, especially with the trading deadline coming up.
I wouldn't mind some extra time.

Either way is fine with me - skipping Friday or early afternoon sims.

I'm fine with skipping--since I just remembered I didn't take a look at the most recent file

I'd also be fine with skipping next week as well

Noooooo!

I mean yeah, that's fine. You can move the sims to whenever, really and I'd be fine with it.

I'm good with the sim proposal (either way; skipping Friday or simming Friday afternoon).

I actually also have a request: with Pencon coming up the weekend of the 20th, my availability to "check in" with OOTP for several days (that Thursday through Monday) is really questionable. How do I set up that "vacation" function for my team during that timeframe? I'll check on the OOTP help documentation, but am curious if anyone here knows any particular pitfall I can avoid.

Wait, is it the 20th, or the 26th? I thought it was the 26th?

EDIT: Yeah, the 26th. Either way, I will need to know how to set that up as well.

Whatever works best for Pred is more than fine with me.

D'oh had the wrong weekend in my brain

Hey folks, iOOTP is just 99c this weekend (for all you iPhone 4+ owners). Great game for the mobile. Plus MLB at Bat 12 is free for the Play-Offs. Another great offer.

I'm sure this has already been mentioned but I can't look through this ginormous thread.

OOTP is currently on Steam Greenlight!

I don't play OOTP anymore myself but when I saw it pop up while I was greenlighting I thought I'd drop in here and let you guys know. I frankly was shocked that the game wasn't already available on Steam since it's the best sports sim like...ever.

So if you want to support the developers head on over to greenlight and give this game a big fat YES.

Right, apologies. Chores. Looks like i'm gonna have to say we'll pick things back up Sunday.

Doesn't matter to me, any day is good.

Woo! New file!

Everyone say hell to pizzaaddict and peedmyself, the new GMs for Phoenix and San Diego!

In other news, Brian Burke is still batting over .400. .413 to be exact. It's almost August, and the rumblings, those rumblings... are getting louder.

Oops. Looks like I missed a sim and my team really suffered because of it. Three of my top players come off the DL (and rehab) to fill 3 slots for three more of my top players.

Injuries on my team this year and last have been absurd.

I agree, the injury carousel is nutso.

Well, I wonder how much of the injury issue was from the HBP = injury issue that should have been patched out in the most recent release?

Oh man I hope none of it was. I've had injury issues for the past two seasons so I'm use to it.

I certainly hope not, but I can't rule it out entirely.

New file! Only three days down, I'm stopping on July 31st, the trade deadline, to give everyone a chance to see if they can wheel and deal one last player onto their teams. Remember, any trades made after the deadline, both players have to clear waivers for it to go through.

Trading Deadliine?!

Fire sale on my end, I need to get some value for my SP Woody Wallace since his contract is up at the end of the season. Woody has been Pittsburgh's front line staff ace for the past few seasons and has been a reliable war horse for me.

Hit me up with pitching prospects, cool? Lower level okay.

New file! I finished the week of the trading deadline, and went another week to give us some more games under our belt.

I am THIS close to yanking my closer. He's blown four saves in twenty opportunities, and has an astronomical 4.67, even though his FIP is a full two runs lower.

Funny note, did you know that only two teams in the NL East has more than 100 HRs? And one of those teams (Pittsburgh) leads the NL in homers?

Dallas is batting .294. AS A TEAM.

Other funny notes. Las Vegas is dead last in their division, but their starters have pitched a SL league-leading 4 shutouts. The NL West is the best pitching division in baseball. Three teams with ERAs under 3.30, noone over 4.90.

This is someone everyone doesn't think about, but the all-time record for triples is close to being broken. Atlanta's Leonard Ward has 11 already, and the all-time record is 13.

Oh, and a question for everyone. Are there any under-the-hood changes anyone would like to see in the off-season? Changes to revenue sharing (teams currently share 20% of all income), changes to the playoffs, changes to the league's strategic tendencies?

Chicks dig the long balls.

Pittsburgh is nipping at Baltimore's coat tail. We had a pretty solid July. Looking forward to the rest of the season coming down the stretch.

3-11 as a manager so far. I might get fired before the season ends It will be fun to see how long it takes me to turn this awful team around.

40 team active rosters all year long because everyone on my team keeps breaking?

Hey, I know a real life manager that is probably thinking the same thing. Just be sure you make that decision before the playoffs. Wouldn't want that closer blowing a save during a clinching division series game would you?

In Portland news, I may have risen in power rankings from 22nd to 18th, but my hope for having some kind of miraculous turnaround and at least getting to .500 before the end of the season is all but dashed. Not sure exactly what I'm going to need to do to improve this team, but it definitely needs more help than I initially thought

ALRIGHT, so I said there'd be interruptions, and here's week #2 of em'.

We WILL NOT be simulating this Friday, as I will be out of town. The next sim will be Sunday, and then we'll return to our regular Sun-Mon-Wed-Fri schedule.

Can I place players on revocable waivers in OOTP13 or does it still only support irrevocable waivers?

Well, after spending pretty much the entire previous season laying about injured, Ward had to earn two years' worth of pay this season.

I think theres an option to pull a player back off waivers if another team claims him, but I can't remember exactly. Maybe someone smarter than me can help?

There are revocable waivers and irrevocable also. Irrevocable happens when you demote a player to the minors and they're out of minor options. Otherwise they go on revocable waivers

This league allows both.
