Soccer Gaming Catch-All

Just put FIFA 13 in. Player career mode has national call ups! OH LAWDY LAWDY HAPPY DAY

Just requested a loan transfer as a young player on Arsenal. Loaned to Walsall for season. This is pretty sweet.

I had a chance to test PES. It's pleasant and snappy. Scoring is hard (played four, scored three goals, two 0-0 draws). Review on Eurogamer (9/10) does very good job of describing the game. Might buy it, might not.

That was indeed a great review. I like how Konami made the controls more responsive, but after ending 90% of my games on a 1-0 or 0-0 in 4 consecutive PES iterations, I started to think that maybe it wasn't me. Sorry, FIFA is just more entertaining.

Especially if you can finally be called to the national team, that's ten flavors of awesome!

bigred, do you know if they fixed the rotation system in this iteration? In FIFA 11, when fatigued at the end of the season, the coach still insisted he 'needed me to play' in a league we won five games before.

I cannot wait to pick up Fifa on Friday after work. Can any of the North American players tell me any details on the online pro clubs mode? Easy to level up? Player starting stats? Etc

Also is there a written list of vp accomplishments for both online and offline pros?

Reference rotation, I've read that the manager will sub you off if exhausted.

I keep drawing nil-nil in both PES and FIFA.

I've been subbed out in a number of games so far. Basically, if you hit the point where your guy has his hands on his knees when not running, he's most likely coming out.

I can confirm that there is a list of offline virtual pro accomplishments but haven't tried the online mode yet. It seems they've split it though. You don't seem able, I could just be misunderstanding this, to just have an "offline pro." The only way I see the ability to create one is via the career mode. I can't just create one and use it for whatever careers or online games I want.

Has anyone heard anything about FIFA 13 on Vita? Is there any reason to give it a look? Assuming it's just roster updates, no national teams, etc. I'll pick up the 360 version instead.

Its very cool. Online only achievment unlocks this year, either through a Drop-In game or ProClubs. Phsysicality is top notch, and new first touch controls are cool. Word of advise. If you played the early release and created a VP, when you put the retail disc in and you choose ProClubs it will bring you to a VP creation screen that makes it appear that you lost everything, but once you advance beyond the basic setup screen it will synchronize with the servers and al your accomplishments and unlocks will download.

I just played a little bit of career mode so not much to say yet but the few minor tweeks they have made so far seem very cool.

FIFA 13 has been fun. I did not pick up FIFA12 so it's been a big upgrade from that. There are a lot of game modes which is interesting if you get bored with the normal modes. I've only played about 6 to 8 hours of it, but it's been pretty good so far.

BTW, the sports games that are able to carry on the seasons is one of the main reasons why I want a Vita.

I am playing FIFA 13 on 360. Loving it. Would love to join an EA SPORTS Club with GWJers for online play. Anybody playing on the 360?

I'll boot someone.

Is anybody playing a player career?

How is it going?

There have been big improvements this year.

I started as a left forward at Vancouver Whitecaps. They put me up for loan immediately but due to injuries I never went out and became a starter. I scored a couple of goals before joining the injury list myself for three months.

I never played for the whitecaps again as I was sold to Levante in La Liga for £1.4m before I came back from injury. I was again immediately listed for loan and ended up at English league 2 side Morecombe. Not before I played for and scored for Levante in a friendly v Aston villa.

Morecombe play me left mid which is frustrating as I can't influence the game as much as I'd hope. We're expected to finish midtable but were currently 4th after 8 games.

Two highlights so far are giant killing Charlton in the league cup and my international debut.

We beat Charlton on penalties but I was subbed off between the 90 and extra time so I missed out on the glory.

I was called up for Chile for the games v Argentina and brazil. I didn make the bench for Argentina but due to an injury I started against brazil. I caused the Brazilian right back no end of problems for the 90 minutes. We were dominating brazil and I smashed a 30 yard screamer against the far post after cutting inside. Totally against the run of play we found ourselves behind to a neymar goal. Things didn't change though and we continued to dominate. I cut inside again and ran onto a great through ball only to be brought down on the edge of the box. Fernandez stepped up and fired it into the top corner. Then ten minutes later as the right winger ran down the wing I ran across the 6 yard box the nod a header against the post. I was already set for an 8+ rating on my debut when the ball fell to my 12 yards out and I buried it to make it 2-1 to chile. We managed to hold on despite brazil going on to hit the post.

I played a season as a manager and then started a season as a goalkeeper for the LA Galaxy. So far, so good. I've been listed for transfer, but have gotten a few starts and have only been scored on once. Fingers crossed.

DSGamer, will add you later tonight/tomorrow when I am next on.

Great. I made space.

Getting online to add you now. Excellent.

In case anyone hasn't pre-ordered FM 2013 yet, over on GMG they have it for £29.99 (25% off RRP), plus with code:

GMG25-EVFWS-4Z4ZN

gives you another 25% off that, bringing the cost down to £22.50

Not bad for a pre-order discount! Hopefully it's not region related..

Now I just have to wait til some kind of deal springs for fifa 13 and i'll bite that as well. Does anyone else play Fifa on PC (with controller)?

Been playing as a striker for the Houston Dynamo and just like Viktor was loaned listed but due to injuries I moved up to starter. Haven't been traded or loaned out yet, but I've only passed half way through the season. Definitely enjoying the career mode.

I really like that when I retire I can become a manager and continue my career there. Pretty awesome.

Sega is one of the worst for regional pricing on Steam. FM13 is $80 US for me. With the 25% off code it'd be $30US from GMG.

Finished first season under Arsenal while loaned out to Walsall in Npower league 1. Nothing much to discuss besides a few 3-4 week knocks. Helped them get promoted though! Get loaned out in second season to Leicester City in the championship, score goals in the first two friendlies, and then tear a muscle and out until October. Come back and finally get a national call up where I played ok for the US but it was definitely the b squad. Haven't been called up again since. Struggling for goals and form this season. I dislike 4-4-2 with an LCM and a RCM. I much prefer the 4-1-2-1-2 where I can play as CAM and semi-striker.

I also started playing online pro mode. My guy has a long way to go but I scored two hilarious goals in my second match. First one I applied pressure on a ball half way between the last defender and their goalie (both human players). Keeper panicked, collided with defender, ball bounced to my foot for an easy open netter. Fast forward to 89th minute, game at 2-2, I'm open in the box and receive the cross. I head it right into a mess of 2 defenders and the keeper who simultaneously collide, the ball careens off the defenders back and in!

Hmm, looks like everyone gets loaned out...and I thought it was just me

Started in my usual striker position with 1860 Munich - who promptly listed me for loan AND signed a new striker. So off I went to Stevenage - played a couple of games so far, notched the winner with a close range header in the opener against Oldham, then we beat Sheff U 2-0 in the Fizzy Pop cup or whatever it's called now. Only spotted one problem....my season objectives have me down to notch 22 goals this season, which is going to be a little difficult when I run like a deep sea diver.

Oh, and some of them mini games before kick off are HARD. That chipping the balls into the dustbins one is a right pain.

won promotion with Morecambe, finishing first. 3 out of the last four games were forfeited because we didnt have enough fit players. That almost cost us the league.

We also won the J. Paint Trophy too. Another highlight was taking West Ham to a replay in the FA Cup.

I won player of the year and the golden boot finishing the season with 31 league goals

Ive returned to Levante to find they have been relegated from La Liga. I put in a transfer request because i want to be playing top level football now. It was declined and ive just scored a brace in my Levante debut.

if you preorder FM13 from gamesplanet (http://uk.gamesplanet.com/buy-downlo...) and put in the code FM13GAME at the checkout you get 40% off. This works in the UK. Not sure about anywhere else. Youll pay £22.49

In fifa13, Be a Pro career - is there a way for me _not_ to take full team control if/when my pro gets substituted? The whole idea to me is that I want to be one player, and one player _only_. I don't want to take full team control when my pro gets substituted.

Really irks me. Especially as once I've been playing Be a pro for a good few hours, my tactical awareness for other positions is way off, and once I get dumped in control of the whole team, I often lose a goal and end up drawing games I would have no doubt won if it'd just sim'd the rest of the match..

I can't agree more. I had a look yesterday after being subbed if I could just switch the game to full AI in the controller select screen but you can't access that screen from the pause menu. I don't know if you can do it by turning your controller off which automatically brings up the controller select screen as that didn't occur to me until now.

If you get sent off, the rest of the match is just simmed. Should be the same for sub
