GWJ Chess Club/Tourno?

I actually couldn't get it to work properly on my Droid. I could highlight the piece I wanted to move, but I couldn't actually move the piece itself

The mobile app for Chess.com is pretty neat, I was able to keep up with my games while traveling this weekend.

Yeah, it works pretty well. I use it at work. ;)

Excellent. Good to know my opponents are distracted by travel and work when they make their moves

Good game Mortalgroove.

Thanks. I was struggling.

You're holding up better in the other one. I just offered up the easy knight setting you up for that trap at the end.

Good games Cybardian, You were doing better than you thought. I'm really suprised you resigned both of them.

Only four hours left, Michael, don't time out!

Won one and lost one against CptDomano. Definitely on my way to one more loss against PezHead (lost my queen, dammit). Rough start.

Never! I'll lose promptly!

Good games, Trichy! I thought you had me both games and I almost missed that mate! Hope to play you again!

Definitely! I think we're well matched. I'll friend you up on chess.com.

SodaGremlin? Did you let that game expire on purpose?

More to the point, if I make a move in our other game, will you be able to respond or are you out of town or something?

Well, I was down at least a piece in both and trust that you would eventually force simplifying to exploit the advantage - and I was frustrated at my somewhat blundery play. Hopefully I'll get through to the next round and focus a bit better

Good luck!

Thank goodness for auto-pause. Sorry for the delay, folks.

Haha, I'm SO BAD at chess. I'm losing queens like it's my job.

Well get to work then, you haven't lost any to me yet

nope, I feel asleep without making the last move. I had my move plugged in and never clicked submit I think. It puts me in a tough position in our group.

Given that that's the first game I've won, I'm not so sure...

GGs Cybardian. Thanks for chasing me around the board on that last one until I could get home to resign.

I lost my queen in a game with Copingsaw, that means she goes back to spawn, right?

I think there's a turn cooldown for spawning queens

I clearly wasn't paying attention and lost a knight early in that game. Two turns later you do the same and lose your queen. I get the feeling from how long you are going between moves that your not able to put your full mental capacity into these games. I recall our games from the last tournament were a lot more challenging.

Yes, I'd agree with that assessment. Some days I just need to get in a buzzer beater and these are my first games in a few months. Last tournament I had been playing quite a bit more in the preceding weeks. It's amazing how my game goes south without practice.

Ugh...Dropped both games to PezHead. Still beating myself up after letting my Queen get captured instead of doing some strong pressure (and possible checkmate). I need to learn to take the full 48 hours to check the board! Great games, man!

Good game Polliwog. I was lucky to come away with a draw!

Okay, so three of the four brackets are complete. As soon as SodaGremlin finishes the three games he has outstanding, we can move on.

...Soda? Sooooodaaaaaaa...

Yes, GG! If I was more observant, I could've really given you trouble in that last one.

FYI, The next round of the tourney has started. You have 48 hours to get back into the swing of things.

You people in bracket four blew my careful planning all to hell. Now there's going to need to be two more rounds instead of one since a 3-way tie for second advanced all four of you.

Sorry, got offered a new job, while someone tried to buy my current company and now my job offer was resended because I couldn't get there quick enough so I am starting a new company. It's a lot of freaking work! I gotta get my priorities straight. Chess, then work! Life has gotten the better of me. I have to set alarm just to remember to play my chess moves and they are on my phone. I will try and do better this round.

I'll echo Minarchist thoughts! Our whole group moved on because of a timeout I had last night (made the move, forgot to click submit. Birthday beer is to blame). which resulted in a 6-2-2-2 tie. OMG, I can't believe that. I haven't seen that in any chess tournament that I have every played (only about 30, but still).

Sorry again guys for making things take so long. I will strive to make at least one or two moves a day especially if it's just an obvious one.

Cheers,

SodaGremlin

Dammit!

Life got in the way and I timed out both my games with Cybardian. Minarchist, do you know if 1 or 2 players go through from this round?

Also, I thought I read somewhere that you can get holiday time to auto kick in if you run out of time? anyone know what level of membership you need for that? I may have to invest.
