Recommend an old white guy some Hip-Hop.

R.A.P Music is my Hip-Hop album of the year hands down.

better than Cancer 4 Cure even.

I thought Cancer 4 Cure was a little anticlimactic. I don't think it's bad, I just didn't like it as much as El-P's previous stuff.

I also liked Killer Mike's album but Aesop Rock's Skelethon is so good I forgot other music existed for several weeks after it was released.

I just met Lupe! He was in Baltimore for an album signing so I stopped by after work, picked up Food and Liquor 2, and met him. He's really relaxed and pleasant. I talked to him for all of thirty seconds but he still made it count.

Also, some raw hip-hop for the thread. I love narrative in my music:

Sorry, it was "Tell Me More", not Fresh Air. Still a good interview.

Ah, good, cause I was tearing my hair out a bit not being able to find it. I figured I'd give it another shot tomorrow.

[i]I"ve been really digging Serengeti lately. [i]I could take or leave the Anticon crew for the most part, but he's just great.

Arise thread! Big Boi finally dropped "Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors", and....

...it's a mess. But it's a big, sprawling, entertaining mess. Would recommend.

While Das Racist recently broke up, both guys have been putting out some quality solo stuff:

Kool AD - 51

Heems - Wild Water Kingdom

I've also been enjoy Lakutis' new EP. Das Racist fans may recognize him from a few tracks on Sit Down Man.

It is old and filled with hate and violence but I love this track:

Cannot stop listening to this track ...

There are some others on my rotation that may interest ...

Large Professor

JR and PH7

Quakers

Wax Tailor

New Demigodz in 2013...

Vinnie Paz latest solo...

Been listening to a good deal of K Rino from Houston.. probably what "down south" rap should really be.. He's a bit out there but solid lyrics.

Is it redundant to mention Kendrick Lamar in this thread?

The Kendrick Lamar album is not blowing me away, but Female Doggo Don't Kill My Vibe is incredible.

Via The Guardian, here's a awesome, free mixtape featuring female MCs from across the globe.

I ended up tripping across Chance the Rapper recently, and holy hell I can't wait for this kid to drop his full album.

Oh, and if you'd like to take a fun trip through the history of hip-hop, Ed Piskor's Hip Hop Family Tree has been amazing so far. I'm embarrassed to say I hadn't heard of the Funky Four Plus One or Sha-Rock until now, and lo behold, they're just as good as you'd expect.

Seriously, "Rescue Me" and "Got To Be Real" may be the two most influential tracks/samples in hip-hop history.

Acid Rap by Chance the Rapper dropped a few days ago. I mentioned him upthread, and the mixtape does not disappoint. There's an alleged bidding war going on over him by the major labels, and on this evidence, it makes sense.

Good call Prederick. I picked this up last Friday and listed to it a few times over the weekend. "Favorite Song" is great but the whole album is good. Looking forward to hearing more

A permanent fixture in my record bag for party sets.

Take Killer Mike, El-P and throw out a ~30m album?
Yes.

Saw them in concert.. incredible.

nel_e_nel linked me in IRC yesterday.
The 36" chain video is also not to be missed.

H/t for the download link. I've heard nothing but fantastic things -- my friend said he almost lost it listening to El-P's verse on Job Well Done, which I promptly had to look-up. But I'm just glad to see Killer Mike excelling -- I really dug "Monster."

This is late, I know, but I hope everyone here took the opportunity when De La Soul offered their entire discography for free a few weeks ago.

EDIT: Oh, and Kendrick managed to make the grossly overplayed "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons tolerable again during the Grammys.

Yeah, I like his verse.

I'm pretty sure that was the most popular thing I've ever posted. Everyone jumped on that deal.
