GWJ 360ers: trueachievements.com!

Last month I thought it was lame that they picked Looper as the opening movie of TIFF -- it's the epitome of a Hollywood blockbuster, does it really need more exposure? And now Looper's blanket advertising is interfering with my video game stuff! Bruce Willis, you cocky son of a Female Doggo!

AdBlocker?

I thought they removed ads for the paying members. Is that not the case?

Good God, finally. Um, that sounds sarcastic, but it isn't. Not that 2% off is much, but then it's not nothing. I wonder why it MS five+ years to roll out something like this?

They've been doing this rewards thing for a bit now. You do a short monthly survey and get 20points; a couple of months back I got 300 for doing stuff like watching netflix and playing online.

Yeah, I've been doing that since I was able to. But having your GS affect your MSP balance is an idea that probably sprang up the moment GS was announced. It's nice to see that stupid arbitrary number finally offering a material benefit (if only marginal).

Now they've found a way to make SURE you have an odd number of space bucks available, so you feel compelled to buy more to make new purchases with those lingering increments.

Spoiler:

Lingering increments sounds like some kind of medical term to describe hemorrhoids or a garage band...

Leaderboard is set to completion % this week.

Also, thanks for whoever posted the link about the Rewards program -- didn't even know about it! Signed up so I can reap that precious, precious 2% back on every purchase.

It's suprising how quickly those little rewards add up, especially when combined with the Bing rewards. Over the past year, it's added up to at least $30 of space-bucks!

(Now just need to find time to play the games it bought me!)

Too true.

Since September last year when it launched 'down here', I've managed to be awarded 1,290 space bucks for doing nothing more than I do usually (which is buy games I'll never play and give my opinion on things to people who do not care).

I've made 850 points, mostly from the monthly surveys and Live renewals. I never qualify for the "spend 10 hours with such-and-such app" since they're either not available in Canada, or I wouldn't use them anyway. But I've got no lower limit for when I'll accept free money. This month's survey was nicely to the point.

Bond, James Bond.

Speaking of Legend: after grinding all last weekend and what hours I could this week I am finally 100% in Skyrim again (not reflected on my TA page yet).
To Bethesda I say "Come at me bro!!!" (i.e. more DLC please).

What level were you? /secretly hoping it's less than 78

Sadly I wasn't. Info I found is that they start showing up regularly at level 75. But I didn't get one until 80 at the Skyborn Altar dragon wall I think.

I'm proud to announce my team has made it to the terrible top twenty in the GTASC. Time to play even more garbage games so we can try to stick around a little longer.

Congrats?

Nice!

I am looking at my pile trying to decide if I want to do GTASC next year. Is there interest again?

I'm interested, as it was a lot of fun, but at the moment I have no idea where I'll be in terms of the work/kids/Uni/freelance/gaming ratio for 2013.

This past month has been abysmal for gaming for me.

I'm in!

Yah on one hand, I am a bit hesitant to do GTASC again as it becomes such a time sink, but on the other hand - I have a pretty big pile and there is really only about a year left for the 360, supposedly. It would be nice to clean up the pile a bit before the 720 gets here, and the competition would give me an excuse to burn through all the easy 1k titles I have just waiting to be played (looking at you, Jurassic Park).

Congrats honeycut and good luck!

I'd be down for it again. Nothing quite like the drama of the Dandies constant near-eliminations to keep the crowd on the edge of their seats.
