Borderlands 2 Catch-All

I need to find an upgrade to my bouncy tesla grenade.

Just curious, for everyone at their current level: What is your go to weapon/grenade/shield you have for OH SH*T situations?
Mine (at level 21)? :

Shield completely gone. Health in the critical. Run to a corner to recover, chuck one or two into the air and listen for the aftermath :D.

I've also learned the hard way that 0 fuse mods with elemental effects hurt you more than they hurt the enemy. I briefly ran a corrosive grenade mod with 0 fuse, and just throwing it would instantly deplete my shields.

I believe 0 fuse means it explodes on contact. I used them exclusively for quite a while. Maybe you were throwing it into enemy fire?

From what I can tell the elemental grenades work differently to standard grenades. I had a lightning grenade that started pulsing out electric novas on a regular interval as soon as the timer ran down, so presumably a 0.0 timed elemental grenade would start pulsing the moment it leaves your hand, assuming they all work in a similar fashion to the lightning one I found.

So what cool customization options has everyone found? I'm a fan of the current "Cyan" look of my Siren:

Let's see yours!

I had a rough time trying to solo tonight while

Spoiler:

trying to defend the beacon to travel to now floating Sanctuary. I died at least 3 times, losing over $10k in the process.

It really felt like this encounter was meant for co-op. Thus far I have only played solo, trying to take in the story and dialogue, which more than made up for my frustrations tonight.

Spoiler:

For that spot I did coop, but taking on the robots I find is easier with a shotgun than a corrosive gun which is what I assume you used. The spread really helps with hitting the eye for the crit damage and it's more brusty than a pistol or machine gun.

Spoiler:

I started using my shotgun, but ran out of ammo. When I tried to pick up more I was bombarded by Loaders and finished off quickly. I eventually broke the encounter by luring all the mechs outside where I had my rocket launcher equipped runner and blew them all away quickly.

Yeah, that mission is almost guaranteed to kill you multiple times. I just re-did it tonight and had the same experience. Don't feel bad.

Personally, I currently have no interest in the skins, other than them being just another thing to sell. The only time I can see my character (while actually playing) is when I open a menu, at which time I'm looking at the information on the menu, not my character. Plus, BL2's default appearance options are a lot more numerous than BL1.

Maybe if you're interested in showing off/looking unique while playing co-op, I can see sort of see the point. But when I play co-op, I'm not spending any time looking at my teammates' outfits; I'm looking at the enemies that need to be killed and the loot that they drop.

Spoiler:

For the robits, it's easier for me (as a sniper) to shoot the arm joints. One crit shot usually takes the arm clear off, and it's VERY satisfying to shoot twice and have a hobbled, armless robit trying to walk your way - if it's still alive. I agree, though, that sequence was HARD.

I hate you. Now everytime I see a robit in Borderlands, I'm going to think of Zoidberg.

This is precisely the case. If the grenade says "makes a Standard explosion" then a 0 fuse explodes on contact. A lot of elemental grenades also pulse out an effect, like Redwing pointed out. 0 fuse on these begin pulsing the moment you throw them, so you're guaranteed to get hit by at least 1 of the pulses if not more.

After playing around with everything except the bouncing betties I still gravitate towards Longbow/Sticky - Element + Transfusion. Longbow if it has a short fuse and sticky if it has more than a second.

Do the weapon stab animations play the same for the various characters? Zer0 does a bayonet style thrust. Which means he will need to stab pretty hard to have this blade do any good:

While simple assault rifles are nice, super high-tech advanced alien merchandise is good too. In Chrome. IMAGE(http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/576716632285172975/2C3C6C0E2739105F9A2E1A0E70A33141C0E37866/)

I found Micheal in the PC version.

It's a nice, and touching initiative about those Gearbox fellow.

I totally get that mindset, with the limited amount of time you actually see the changes. I think I just naturally gravitate to cosmetic items of any kind. I like having small options to make my mark on whatever avatar I'm controlling. I do love seeing my decked out character on the game startup screen before each session- helps get me pumped up to shoot some robits, as it were.

While playing my main character (lvl 24) and once again unsuccessfully searching for Michael, I remembered that a lot of people on the official forums said that there seemed to be a higher spawn rate early in the game...

Spoiler:

...before Santuary's lift-off

So I switched to my lvl 9 gunzerker (who I had used to search for Michael at least a few times) and there he was, standing next to the news stand.

He gave me a decent blue sniper, which I have equipped in the sreenshot. So I've basically given up hope that he'll spawn for my lvl 24 commando, but I'll still look around whenever I'm in Sanctuary, just in case.

That's only on consoles, where it's a known bug that's going to be fixed. He was only supposed to have a 10% chance of spawning, but on consoles, he has a 100% chance of spawning before your spoiler. On PC the spawn chance is 10% both before and after the spoiler.

Ah, that makes sense. I used corrosive or shock 0 fuse grenades pretty much exclusively for my first playthrough, but never the ones that have the "does constant damage in an area" effect. So those must be the ones that do it.

What I've noticed is that elementals are more likely to have 0.0 fuse, and as Crinkle mentioned. I had a Bouncing Tesla with 0 fuse at one point, and it would bounce indefinitely until it hit an enemy, the pop immediately. With a sticky fire grenade, it would explode on contact - with anything - but you usually got enough distance that it didn't damage me.

For the sprayers (XXX damage per second), I've found that corrosive and fire damage the player that threw them, but the electrical ones do not - they smartly engage only enemies.

I'm currently running with a Homing Singularity grenade right now, and it's pretty BA.

I think I might have found my first relic that has me considering swapping out the 5% MF pre-order relic: purple Tenacity Relic that I got from Tannis after the side quest in the Preserve.

I'm a slightly-less-crazy Tannis in Gecko colors:

I've used singularity grenades almost exclusively so far. It's just so useful for guaranteeing the grenade is going to hit a bunch of enemies, and it groups them up nicely for splash damage from explosive rounds, rocket launchers, or more grenades.

I am also a Tannis. After demanding the ability to play as Tannis in the first game, I couldn't NOT pick that head.

I'm Tannis too. 8:) Speaking of skins, can anyone on PC take me to Eridium Blight? I want to get Axton's gasmask.

What... how does that even work!?

My current grenade is a homing corrosive singularity grenade. I had a lot of fun with the slag MIRV transfusion grenade and the sticky longbow incendiary too.

Serengeti wrote:

Seems like the washing machines in the HQ in Sanctuary have a really high Eridium drop rate; I seem to get one or two bars each time I open them. Or it could just be coincidence.

The washing machines always seem to have shotgun ammo for me. To me it seems like Varkid piles are very high in Eridium drops.

Thought I was hitting the finale last night, but then it threw me back to Sanctuary and opened several more quests. I never played the first Borderlands, so I guess it's a surprise how long this game is. Not complaining, but wow.

Dawww... the poor dear doesn't have a trigger. Don't worry though, I'm sure that doesn't say anything about your abilities as a lover.

He shouldn't fire prematurely, then...
