DDO Orien server catch all - Static Group nights Tuesday and Thursday 8PM EST

Free to play does not grant you Gold storage or shared bank unless you purchase it separately. If you did purchase it separately, you'll always have those things available to you regardless of VIP or free.

Not familiar with what LOTRO has done.

Did you folks get through with the tapestry stuff on Tuesday?

We did but will need a few more runs of it until everyone can get their helmets. I think everyone got around 6 or 7 taps.

Thinking about giving the raid a shot again next Tuesday if we can get enough people on at once.

Tonight we might try to do some of the desert quests.

I might have to run through on my Sorc to catch up on tapestries then, think I had 3 of em when I had to drop. Trying to schwack that dragon tuesday sounds awesome, so people! Pony up! Let's git er done!

I seriously hope I can make it this time. I am getting sick of missing my DDO nights thanks to not-fun things.

So I rolled up a human cleric a few days ago. He's still... Level 1 (Rank 5). His name is Telsten and I'm pretty much not sure at all what I'm doing. But I'm enjoying it so far! It is currently sharing time with Borderlands 2 and I have a book chapter due on Monday.

I'll be traveling next week, though, and I think DDO can run fairly decent on my lapper, so maybe I'll be around a bunch next week and figure some stuff out.

So, I can't get the game to start up, keeps crashing every time I try loading it up. I have even tried uninstalling/reinstalling the game and it gets to the screen after you login and checking the file status, then comes up with an error.

I know a while ago I had problems because I deleted the program and tried to re-load and install it, and it kept failing. Check your list of programs on your machine to see if there is still a program called Turbine Download Manager. It is apparently no longer used, and if it is still there, it interferes when you re-download. Turbine customer support said to just delete it (from inside the control panel in Windows) and then try to re-install fresh from the beginning. Don't know that this is your problem, but might help presuming you are on Windows.

It was giving me errors before I deleted/redownloaded. I'll give it a try though.

Still stuck at work, last minute surprise. Might not make it for tonight's game.

Tried removing it from my system again, also made sure the installed was completely uninstalled. Still no luck in getting it to run, that was the high res graphics version though. Maybe I'll try to download the low res version tonight:(

Whats the error you are getting? Are you using the steam version?

It just says stopped working and gives the option of searching the web for solution or stopping the program. Searching the web does nothing and stopping the program is what I choose. I downloaded the game directly from www.ddo.com.

Did you restart your system after uninstalling, but before re-installing?

I don't recall. But that error came up before I ever tried uninstalling/reinstalling, that is the reason I tried uninstalling/reinstalling. I started having issues after my video card started acting up/crashing and I replaced it.

If you have Steam, I'd recommend installing it from there. Much easier than futzing with the Turbine installer.

Agreed. One more thing to check, have you updated your graphics drivers recently? That might be an issue as well. I typically don't update my drivers until some thing crashes, and usually that fixes the crash 70% of the time.

Yup, upgraded my graphics driver after swapping out video cards last week. Will try the Steam install tonight.

I've got a flight out tomorrow morning at 5am so I'm going to try and sleep really early tonight. If I'm awake I'll be on to play, though.

I might be pretty late or not able to make it at all tonight. Don't wait for me, if I do make it before 11 I'll join in if there is room.

I presume we're not raiding tonight then, so what's on the agenda? More desert quests?

If you want a good call back to the harbor quests try "Hiding in Plain Sight" it level 10 and free to play. Get it from Inquisitor Ingram in the Wayward Lobster.

I give up. Uninstalled game, uninstalled installer, restarted pc. Attempted to download and install trhough steam, same issue, sigh.

Does DirectX need to be reinstalled if you replace your video card?

Are the characteristics of your new card significantly different than the original one? I'm thinking in terms of did your original DDO configuration specify video settings that aren't compatible with your new card? When you uninstalled, did you go in an manually delete the remaining files, including your configuration files? Typically uninstalls will leave configuration/save/user-generated files alone, as well as any files that may've been updated post install.

Are you having problems with other games?

Have you posted your problem and DXDiag report to the support section of DDO forums?

Also, what error is it throwing at you? I went back and looked at your posts, but didn't see anything specific about it. Kinda hard to troubleshoot it without specifics or a screenshot of the error.

It doesn' give an error, just says program stopped working.

New video card is 1gb vs old video card was 3 gb. When you reinstall DDO, it installs directx 9xc I think.

I have had no problems with any other games.

Were you using DX10 with the old card?

Ah, ok, so the windows error. I searched on that, couldn't find anything concrete. Some folks think it's to-do with the memory leak in the executable, some have said that it can happen if you're not using the launcher but loading the client directly.

I think so and not sure the new card supports DX10, how do I go back to DX9?

You should have a Dungeons and Dragons online folder in your My Documents. Delete that.

Edit: Here is a Dev quote on resetting graphics settings

Open up the “Documents” > “Dungeons and Dragons Online" folder and look for "Userpreferences.ini" and rename it to "OldUserpreferences.ini" and relaunch.

On the main launcher at the “server select” list click the third button in the row in the upper-right corner (the one with the single down arrow on it) and choose "Options". In there under "Repair" click to enable the "Reset game display settings" option, click ok, then log in again to test.
