Thanks for joining us and continually pulling my butt out of the fire.

Small army indeed. (I'm a bad dad.) Hope you grabbed some loot, seemed like you were shy about grabbing stuff. Gotta be fast with my little hoarders.

I can't understand why Gearbox hasn't gotten around to individualized loot drops for this very reason. Even better, they could tailor your loot drops to your class or your currently equipped weapons so you get guns you will actually use rather than stuff you'll just sell.

In an interview with one of the design leads, their excuse was that competing for loot was more in line with the world they created than individualized drops. For me, fun almost always trumps everything else when it comes to game design, especially something as wonderfully crazy as Borderlands. That response saddened me. Basically, authorship was more important to them than the player. Of course, it's very subjective because a minority surely does want to fight over loot. ;p

Handling loot the way Guild Wars 2 does would be awesome. I'm happy that I get weapons that aren't tailored to my class though. While you have some skills that benefit only specific weapon types, there are situations where guns you don't normally use are helpful, more so now that they did away with the proficiency levels.

Do you have a link to that interview? That answer is just baffling. So the folks at Gearbox believe that after working together to complete an hour long quest, the logical thing to do is for everyone to rush to the loot room and see who can grab the goodies first? Duping the good loot is one possible workaround, but that's kind of lame.

It seems that Guild Wars 2 handles loot and some other things in a much more player-centric manner though.

I'm inclined to echo the disappointment expressed in that article hannibals linked to. My commando is currently level 20, so I'm surely past the halfway point of the game, and I've only seen a fraction of the powerful "wow" items that I did at the same point in the first game. Besides the items I got from the Sanctuary chest, I haven't looted anything higher than blue so far. No purple. No pink-purple. No orange. And the few blues that I have gotten weren't good enough to replace the greens I was already using.

That said, I'm still very much enjoying BL2, but I may be moving over to Torchlight 2 sooner than I expected.

Really? I've gotten a number of purples, and even an orange from Boom Bewm (a really awesome grenade mod, of course).

All the crap loot and the loot midgets jumping out of chests or wandering around has me thinking of Diablo III. Glad Diablo at least didn't make group looting a free-for-all.

Do orange guns even exist? Are they the sexy gold and black guns I see during the loading screens?

See the loot midgets just remind me of the gnomes from Golden Axe. They are fun to beat on and watch treasure pop out

This is what I got from the Gold Chest

There have been screenshots in this very thread!

Has anybody done the Goliath-related side quest in The Fridge? That's the last non-timed side quest I have left and I can't discover that one.

I got an orange from one of the small cardboard boxes. Surprised me.

I think I opened the gold chest without realizing what I was doing. I can't remember for sure if I opened it or if someone else did, and I don't think there's anyway to check to see if I ever even got it (I know there were issues with this at first). I'm assuming I may have opened it which makes me sad since I planned on saving that for a much higher level. sigh.

While playing with Dyni the other day I found an orange shotgun. It has the Tediore reload thing except that it hovers around and actually tracks and chases enemies and it shoots at them a few times as it closes distance. It's entertaining.

I got an orange level 7 Dahl submachine gun at level 9. If anything, the guns at low level in BL2 are much more interesting. I had no compunction about junking random green guns in BL1. I'm not that cavalier in BL2.

Clearly you're all just part of the conspiracy against me.

Started a second character, and found out, the Badass unlock carry over to all your characters.

that's nice, as, everyone got fresh challenge to start with. Made my second play somewhat easier.

Had a good time doing some unplanned co-op with Hannibal and SGP last night. Three Zero's in a party made some of the boss fights a bit more challenging than perhaps a more varied team would have done, but oh well.

I definitely opened my golden chest by mistake I thought it was just a regular chest in a room and only afterwards did I realize what I had done. The weapons seem only kind of good. Maybe I'm still getting a feel for the game and weapons, though.

Will probably continue with Zero until level 10 or so, then may try another for variety. I really enjoyed Lilith in BL1 so might need to do Siren again (even though the abilities are different). Never got into the other BL1 characters but maybe this time variety will be the spice of life.

I got that exact same gun from Flynt twice. I thought he just dropped it every time you kill him or something.

*it showed up once but doesn't seem to work anymore.

Edit: Hmm, is that image showing up? Usually Steam image links work fine.

That's the link you need to use : http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/...

A pick of my orange gun. The damage isn't amazing by any stretch, but with a quick reload and infinite ammo it works in a lot of situations. It's good for my current low character level.

Also, I just need to join others games for a while I think. I've been wanting to stick with the story but A) I don't really care and B) I'm planning on new game+ing the game anyway.

I've decided to save my second gold key for the beginning of Playthrough 2.

Has anyone found an artifact compelling enough to switch away from the Pre-order 5% loot-drop buff?
I'm a little disappointed that there still isn't a way to quick-switch the equipment slots... going to the inventory to swap into my "Oh sh*t! Need Health!!" gear is enough of a pain that I just leave it equipped and don't even mess with the various boosts available.

Rezzy wrote:

A +27% Health relic, or a +20% Max SMG Ammo and + 1 Max Grenade carried relic, those two are the best I've found.

Got an orange SMG off one of the assassins, forgot which one, been quite nice for my Zer0, since he tends to fight in closer ranges than my commando. The commando got an orange off the end fight, a Pele fire sniper rifle, its been very handy in the 'True Vault Hunter' playthrough. Crits for 15k on a headshot, which often isn't enough to drop the targets and I'm still on the glacier. And I've gotten an orange grenade mod as a mission reward, the Lobbed Storm Front is a really nasty weapon - visually appealing too.

Rezzy wrote:

I found a +4.6% XP one early on that I used for quite a while. Honestly, it didn't seem to make a difference because I was still leveling at the same pace as the people I was playing with. I've been using a +30% health one lately but I think I'm going to go back to the +5% MF one since I've been disappointed with the loot for a while.

I think I figured out how you get that quest. First you need to do the Scooter quest in the area where you collect pizza and flowers, which opens up a new section of the map. After you do that, a Goliath will spawn with the normal Tunnel Rats down near the crystalisks. When you kill him he will drop an ECHO recorder that will start that quest.

It goes back into the new section of that map, so I'm pretty sure that Goliath doesn't spawn until that Scooter mission is finished.

I used the +5% MF relic for quite a while, but it didn't seem to help, at least not with finding purples and oranges (see my previous post). So when I found the +4.6% XP relic, I switched to that and will keep using it until I find something better.

Did Amazon have preorder bonuses? I got a 4 pack from Amazon and I don't have a bonus

Just the generic pre-order bonuses every place gave out: a gold key, the gearbox guns, the relic, & Mechromancer. Only Gamestop had anything in addition to those.

Anyone on xbox friend me up if you need another for Co-Op on XBL. XBL id = Snowmando

Hurray, now all I have left other than the next story mission are the stupid mail delivery missions. I'm sure I'll get more side missions but it's nice to have a clear list for now.

I found this was actually a lot of fun because Zero isn't quite as powerful early on and as a result the game is less forgiving of mistakes than with other characters.
