NFL 2012 Week 3 Thread

Bills at Browns

Jets at Dolphins

Patriots at Ravens

Buccaneers at Cowboys I like the Bucs to cover, but since we're picking straight up - Cowgirls.

Jaguars at Colts

Maybe Minase could shed some light about them but so far this year they have allowed 3 sacks to the Cards and 2 to the Cowboys. I will be watching with extra special interest to see how much pressure Mr.Capers is able to apply to Mr.Wilson. Mr.Rodgers can carry the team to the playoffs alone the question is can the D get back to a reasonable level of QB pressure or even maybe back to the 2010 level.

It should be a great matchup - what's looking like a top 5 defense vs. a top 5 offense. I'll say this up front - Seattle can beat any team in the NFL at home, so don't count them out!

Wilson has done an exceptional job against pressure, considering the crappy pass blocking he's getting (Flynn probably take 2x the sacks with the abysmal pass blocking against ARI). Also, it's still a little early but Arizona's defense looks legit, with perhaps one of the best all-around players in the NFL in their secondary (Peterson) and some freaks of nature up front (Campbell and Dockett). That said, Seattle's offense is still maturing, especially in the passing game. If they don't make mistakes and focus on stopping Matthews, they can do enough to win, especially at home.

What Green Bay should be scared of is the defense - Seattle is looking like a top 3 run D already this year, though we know GB isn't a running team. GB should also be scared of the pass defense. Seattle's secondary is very physical and just plain bigger than the GB WRs (Nelson is close, but only Finley is bigger than Seattle's 2 starting CBs), AND they can pick off the ball. Rodgers will have to be on top of his game and throw his speedy receivers (Cobb/Jennings, should he play) open.

I've got to say, the replacement refs are also helping Seattle's D - it feels like much, MUCH less 'illegal contact' and PI are being called, which only benefits Seattle's style of play.

I'll be at the game Monday night - go Hawks!

My Week 2 thought is that the Eagles have shown that they are more than capable of beating themselves. Sometimes all it will take is the other team to just show up and wait for the Eagles to implode. For example.. take a look at this formation before the snap

IMAGE(http://imageshack.us/a/img341/7163/eaglesc.png)

You would think that Vick and the offense would recognize that a quick draw to Shady would result in at LEAST a 7-8 yard gain.. and Audible out of the pass play that was called.. HELL just Vick doing a QB Draw would probably gain that much yardage.. BUT NO!!! they leave the play alone and what happens predictably enough?

4 Lineman are in Space trying to block 1 Defensive player while Vick gets sacked by 3 DLinemen for 7 yards and another 4 and out. BLEH!!!!

Bills at Browns. Poor Cleveland.
Jets at Dolphins. Unless they start Tebow, Sanchez will keep finding ways to lose.
Patriots at Ravens. Tough call, going with the home team.
Buccaneers at Cowboys. Never know which Dallas will show up. Hopefully the bad ones.
Jaguars at Colts. Home team again, seems like a close one.

To be fair that was a pretty gutsy blitz by the Ravens. They overloaded both sides, rushed everyone on the weak side while dropping Ngata into coverage which is a large reason why there were 4 people on one man. That and Courtney Upshaw completely blew past the right tackle and guard.

They were confused and it shows. Vick should never have let that ball get snapped, but the offensive line was hoodwinked pretty bad there.

hoodwinked? They lined up several seconds before the snap like that.. it wasnt a sudden shift.. I'm not sure hoodwinked is the right word.. that would imply that they fooled the Eagles.. Basically Vick and the coaching staff just being 1) dumb and/or 2) over confident that they could still get a pass off.

I don't think anyone is using that formation against Peyton Manning or Tom Brady...

1) dumb and/or 2) over confident

equivalent to fooled.

Home sweet home cookin' except in the case of the Spillin' Bills...Browns are inept and bland...

Bills @ Browns: I don't think I can root for the Browns. Baltimore thing.
Jets @ Dolphins: Jets. Tebow just wins. ;P
Pats @ Ravens: I don't like our history in this match, but we kick ass at home.
Bucs @ Cowboys: Still can't pick Dallas.
Jags @ Colts: Colts; picking against Legion works now and again; this is probably a now.

Bills at Browns
The Browns would have beat the Bengals last week if it weren't for the Haden suspension, which continues. They have a good chance this week.

Jets at Dolphins
Sanchez stinks. Tebow time!

Patriots at Ravens
The Patriots turn it around against the league's most mediocre self-proclaimed best QB.

Buccaneers at Cowboys
Barf.

Thx for the info its appreciated. I hope you enjoy an entertaining game but a loss. ;P

I think it will be close as this year might be the year of super parity. Random stat I heard that I have 0 will to check is this is the most 1-1 teams ever. I think I've become indifferent to parity. Assumption being that the quality of entertainment is so high and everyone is so good type of parity. I won't be watching replacement refs Indy vs Jags type of parity

I'd be very tempted to pick the Cardinals this week. It's gonna be a rough game for the Eagles unless they get the OLine back up to snuff and stop the turnover bleeding.

Gabbert is the lame redneck, florida knock off of Todd Marinovich.
Except he can't make a damn throw to Blackmon.

Cameron Bradfield still out, Eben Britton too.

God help me, I don't think I can survive another Whimper season. Nor will Gabbert.

Let's talk clock and down management:
What the hell were the Rams thinking, spiking the ball after a 1st down with 30 seconds left in the half, and 2 timeouts?

The officiating in the Chiefs-Saints game is made even more laughable by the fact that the baby-talk speech impediment of the ref.

The Jaguar receivers are going to be the death of me.

Blackmon needs to get his ass in gear. The go-to receiver right now is undrafted rookie Kevin Elliott, who himself just blew what should have been a TD catch.

The only people that catch worse than the Jaguar receivers are the Jaguar back 7. It's amazing how many should-be interceptions Andrew Luck has bounced off the hands of Jaguar defenders.

Thought Cincinnati was going to give away this game, as they often tend to, but here they are up by two touchdowns again. What a weird game.

Wow, the Rams should just punt on 3rd and long. I don't think there's been a single attempt today that hasn't ended in a sack.

I lived through Rob Johnson, Brian Griese, Chris Simms, and Bruce Gradkowski's rookie year, but Josh Freeman is possibly having the worst game I have ever seen a Tampa QB play. This game has been BRUTAL to watch; everybody except the defensive line on both teams has been simply terrible.
